well, it all started when i sold that thing on wednesday. said i'd ship on friday. got too busy doing stuff yesterday and today, so i was unable to ship today. then, this evening, when i did have some time to pack this item, which is two small plastic sleeves which i had placed in a plastic bag so they would not become separated, i could not find them. i looked outside, i looked in several boxes where it "could" have been. i looked in a specifc box where it "should" have been. i could not find it, for about 20 minutes. finally, i went through the box where it "should" have been, unloading everything out of the box, and sure enough, the small bag had wedged itself between the wall of the box and another item that was in the box. i packed the plastic sleeves in a padded envelope. then i had to make a box for an item i sold this morning. not a big deal, but i cut one of the ends too short, so i had to make and glue in a separate piece of cardboard to make up the small gap (about 3/4"). i could not find sufficient packing material, so i used some padded envelopes instead of packing paper. that's ok, because i guess it will provide a bit more packing insulation, as the item is about 2lbs and it's best if it does not move around in the box too much. then i came upstairs, weighed the packages, printed the labels, affixed the labels, took pics of the packages with labels on them, on a scale, to show accurate weight in case of any discrepancy with USPS. then i set up a pick-up for tomorrow on the USPS website and waited for the confirmation email.
all in all, it took a little over an hour, when it 'should' have taken about 15-20 minutes. i was hoping to be done well before 6pm, but i really did not get finished until about 6:10. way longer than i thought it would.
