Sounds good here.

I remember LOVING this song when it came out. I didn't have the album, but I would hear it at the skating rink, and on the radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm

it's quintessential 80s pop

When this would come on at the Skating Rink, I would stop playing whatever arcade game I was obsessed with, and skate around to this song, then go back to the arcade. That is my memory of this song: skating and video games of the 80's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
postconsumer:

I wish I'd gone to skate nights with music like this, when I was a kid. Sounds like bliss. As you'll hear, this hour, I was trapped in a very conservative religious bubble which I was only STARTING to escape...
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Austin Rich:

↳ postconsumer @8:07
My mom worked at the Bowling Alley, and was able to get us into the Skating Rink as part of a trade she worked out between the businesses. If I was at the Skating Rink or the Bowling Alley, it was because my parents were working, and I was being "watched" by some teenager with an after school job. So one escape for some is another prison for others, so to speak...

Some people DO consider Star Trek to be a religion; I remember my mom telling me about the extreme Trek fans she would meet at conventions. There was an episode of Joe Dante's podcast, where all the guests were talking about driving past drive-in's when you were bored, in the event you would catch something "exciting" as you drove by.

There were all of those fears, plus the fact that I'd never seen a game like that before... I'm still pretty slow, when it comes to games like that. ↳ Song: "Never Let Me Down Again" by "Depeche Mode"
Seeing Depeche Mode on their "Songs of Faith and Devotion" tour was a HUGE DEAL for me, as it was one of the first shows I paid for, with money I made at my job, and made the choice to see THEM, on my own. I was a fan of Depeche Mode and the Cure from the early days for both bands. Oddly enough I didn't begrudge them the fame that came to them afterward. I still loved the music. I never saw DM live.
