Artist Track Album Label Year Comments New Approx. start time
Monsieur Blumenberg  Dancing With Myself   Favoriting Divertissement avec du Punk Rock  Irma Records  2017  Monsieur Blumenberg is side solo project of Federico Montefiori spliting up from "Montefiori Cocktail" in his "Wunderkammer Music" style. Montefiori Cocktail are Italian major representative of. the easy listening evolution and one of the most. important of the world. Their style is inspired by the 60's and the beginning of. the 70's, cult soundtracks, music from tv commercial. Monsieur Blumenberg brings a little more jangle, a little less polish and a little more goofiness to his sound...absolutely delightful and a perhaps, more mild form of musical fromage....    0:00:00 (Pop-up)
Hott Sexx  Long Dogs   Favoriting Long Dogs Single  Self Released  2024  A song about gay weiner dogs. Hell yeah. Hott Sexx are from Brisbane (of course!) They are "Music inspired by The Coorparoo Bowls Club" Which is a lawn bowling club where apparently, everyone knows your name. This is Hott Sexx's second single and I cannot wait to hear more!  *   0:05:30 (Pop-up)
Viagra Boys  Secret Canine Agent   Favoriting Welfare Jazz  YEAR0001  2021  Nobody loves weiner dogs like Viagra Boys. Viagra Boys arrived like a hurricane. In a moment that saw an increasing amount of “post-punk” or punk-adjacent bands coming out of Europe, the Swedish group was like a whole other beast: Sardonic and snarled lyrics, all manner of skronking and screeching saxophones, big slithering riffs, all of which turned into a complete storm of noise and pent-up chaos onstage. “Secret Canine Agent” is this idea that all these dogs have some elaborate plan and they’re listening in on everyone. Yeah, it’s a continuation of that first poem I wrote, “This Old Dog.”    0:08:57 (Pop-up)
The Hives  The Bomb   Favoriting The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons  The Hives AB  2023  The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons is the sixth studio album by Swedish rock band The Hives, released on 11 August 2023 through the band's Disques Hives label. The album marks the first studio release in over 11 years, since 2012's Lex Hives, marking the longest gap between two Hives albums. We’re sharks,” lead singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist told Rolling Stone. “Sharks have been the same for billions of years, and they still rule. You have no need for development if you’re a shark. You don’t evolve since nothing kills you.” Their formula is both stupid and sublime: sledgehammer guitars, drums that sound like they’re being punctured as they’re being played, obtuse lyrics delivered at a steady Scandinavian scream. Look elsewhere for maturity and subtlety. The Hives have only one goal: a bloody good time.    0:10:50 (Pop-up)
pandagolff  LEGO DE GO   Favoriting LEGO DE GO single  Galapagos Studio  2024  Pandagolff hail from Tokyo, Japan. "The delicate taste of post punk that would have swallowed psy-ambient in a minimal lo-fi soundscape. The stillness of a reptile and the junk food flavor of Japanese ramen cohabiting in one sound. Danceable, though. And pop"  *   0:13:00 (Pop-up)
The Evaporators  Waaaa!   Favoriting I Gotta Rash  Narduwar The Human Serviette  1998  The Evaporators won't be taken seriously. They slide down tables. They knock down speakers. They yowl and pound and thrash and… squeak. The Evaporators work hard for their funny. For well over ten years, The Evaporators have earned a reputation as one of Canada's most entertaining live bands, blending rollicking garage rock with some persistent onstage energy, side-spitting humour, and some very snazzy outfits. Their live shows are not simply concerts: they are raging, out of control parties that make the film Animal House resemble a church picnic. Led by the boundlessly enthusiastic Nardwuar the Human Serviette on vocals and organ, the shows also include an abundance of audience participation and spontaneous stunts that keep the crowd grinning from ear to ear.    0:16:20 (Pop-up)
PUSHER174  Deus Salve O Rei   Favoriting Monstros  PUSHER174  2024  There is nothing about this band online, no bandcamp, no bio, no reviews, no nothing. They are likely from Mexico or Spain..but they deliver dirty synthpunk that is timeless and timely. I love these secret bands...  *   0:17:43 (Pop-up)
Sweat Like an Ape!  Deceptacon   Favoriting 40 Days 40 Nights Single  Platinum Records  2015  Sweat Like An Ape! hails from Bordeaux, France and is composed of British singer/guitarist Sol Hess, guitarist Pierre Guignard, bass player Arnaud Pierret, and drummer Jérôme D'Aviau. Their music evolves in that special place where the urgency of punk and the sparkle of pop and dance music cross paths. Although new-wave and post-punk influences are unquestionable, these four boys like to mingle with all kinds of groove, be it that of the Nigerian king Sir Victor Uwaifo, or the funk-punk of James Chance. As well as having considerable experience with bands past and present, the members of the band also excel in other domains such as those of graphic novels, visual arts, video-work and script-writing and thus enjoy injecting a sense of intrigue and mystery into their repertoire. In an avalanche of frenetic piercing guitar riffs and intense grooves, their live shows indisputably live up to the bands name. Their last release was 2019 so hopefully more to come....    0:19:35 (Pop-up)

Oneida  La Plage   Favoriting Expensive Air  Joyful Noise  2024  Full album out July 19! "A song is a song until it isn’t, until it’s pushed to its limits and beyond to become harder, faster and more dissonant. The music on Oneida’s 17th full-length album, Expensive Air, all started as tightly structured, melodic rock songs—very much in line with the non-stop bangers of Success from 2022—but along the way, they changed. //// Bobby Matador sketched the structures of these songs from his home base in Boston, then sent the demos to Oneida’s New York contingent: Kid Millions, Hanoi Jane, Shahin Motia and Barry London. “We were working out the songs in New York without Bobby. We would start out riding the riffs, and then Shahin and Jane would add wild, out-of-tune licks,” said Kid Millions. “It seemed so perfect.” //// Oneida has long straddled gray-area boundaries between the NYC punk/psych/rock world and the art/experimental world, playing at gritty rock clubs and elevated cultural institutions, including the Guggenheim, MoMA PS1, ICA London, MassMOCA and the Knoxville Museum of Art. The band has been known for extended live improvisational performances, collaborating onstage with Mike Watt, members of Flaming Lips, Portishead, Boredoms, Yo La Tengo, Dead C, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and many others. Oneida’s members juggle a wide variety of other music projects. Drummer Kid Millions has played with Spiritualized, Royal Trux and Boredoms and releases solo compositions under his own name and as Man Forever. Shahin Motia founded noise-punk’s Ex Models and currently plays in Knyfe Hits. Kid and Fat Bobby perform and release music as People of the North, and Bobby's outside projects New Pope and Nurse & Soldier each released new albums in 2023." /////// "Oneida are gearing up to release Expensive Air, their new album and the follow-up to 2022’s Success. They shared lead single “Here It Comes” back in May, and now we have another one called “La Plage.” “La Plage” is on Oneida’s darker side, complete with psychedelic surf-punk guitar licks, fiery blasts of drums, and some bastardized French. “That’s a tune that we just kind of embraced the chaos on,” the band’s Bobby Matador explains. “It has a specific form, but are we going to follow the form? Maybe some of us.” Watch director Baby Jane’s goofy music video for “La Plage": Oneida - La Plage (Official Video)  *   0:30:45 (Pop-up)

DEADLETTER  Relieved   Favoriting Hysterical Strength  SO recordings  2024  "Yorkshire post punk band DEADLETTER have shared their new single “Relieved“. ///// The song features on their forthcoming debut album ‘Hysterical Strength‘, due to be released on 13th September via SO Recordings. //// ‘Relieved’ follows lead single ‘Mere Mortal’ and the incendiary follow-up ‘Mother‘, the track finds its motivation in discomfort, the band delivering one of the album’s saxophones-to-the-front heavy hitters. //// Speaking about it, lead singer Zac Lawrence explains: “Ever been collared by the most bizarre person in a smoking area and wondered how to escape? Too polite to simply turn your back on said oddball? Relieved is about this very British problem of over-minding one’s manners and the inability to remove oneself from an encounter that oozes discomfort.”"  *   0:44:54 (Pop-up)
Barry Adamson  Manhattan Satin   Favoriting Cut To Black  Barry Adamson Incorporated  2024  17th May 2024. "The album swaggeringly embraces Adamson’s trademark genre hopping compositions, covering Pop, Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop and Gospel. Adamson taught himself to play the bass overnight and joined Magazine, Manchester’s most influential band of the late 70’s. His establishment as a solo artist came after a three-year stint with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds with the release of his classic first solo album, Moss Side Story – the ultimate soundtrack to an “imaginary film” – raising Adamson’s name as a composer of diverse complexity." https://barryadamson.bandcamp.com/  *   0:48:27 (Pop-up)

Minny Pops  1234 Satisfy   Favoriting 1234 Satisfy Single  Blowpipe Records  2024  New single and video '1234 Satisfy' is laying the groundwork for release of new Minny Pops album Stockholm_1974 on 17 July 2024. This is Minny Pops' first full length album in 40 years after release of their highly underrated 4th Floor album in 1984. '1234 Satisfy' is all about instant gratifications, fulfilling your desires and connecting with your loved ones. The song is uplifting with Mark Ritsema and Louise Woodcock the catchy "Satisfy – Satisfy" chorus. As for the new Minny Pops album, frontman Wally van Middendorp says "Stockholm_1974 is based on the year 1974-1975 when I was an exchange student in Brunna, Sweden about 40 minutes outside of Stockholm. It brings back memories of my new family and my own family; and I felt privileged that I had two dads and two mums that year. And a new brother and sister. At times I was homesick and lonely, I missed my dad, and I missed our dog, but that year and this experience helped me become who I am."  *   1:01:52 (Pop-up)

CSS  Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above   Favoriting Cansei Der Sexy  Sub Pop  2006  "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death from Above" is the first international single by Brazilian band CSS, taken from their debut studio album, Cansei de Ser Sexy. The title is a reference to Canadian band Death from Above. The song's video was directed by Cat Solen and the track was later commercially released in several formats. It reached number 39 on the UK Singles Chart after it was re-issued in May 2007. The song was rated as the sixth best track of the year 2006 by the NME magazine and named the 299th best song of the 2000s by Pitchfork Media. In October 2011, NME placed it at number 94 on its list "150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years".    1:09:18 (Pop-up)
Mt. Sims  Good Service   Favoriting UltraSex  International DJ Gigolo  2002  This Los Angeles-based electroclash outfit is the brainchild of Matt Sims, who comes a close second to Beck in terms of pulling off a quality Prince imitation on this, his debut full-length. More than anything else, Ultra Sex puts across the imagined personality of Sims, promoting his erotic fantasies and adventurous musical vision without ever letting the listener peek behind the curtain. The lack of personal lyrics may leave some cold, but the raw sexual honesty of tracks like "Come and Get It" don't require any introspective touches to remain effective. In his debut album, Mount Sims manages to kick down some boundaries and offer a throbbing, sensual slab of neo-electro that isn't afraid to offer some self-aware laughs.    1:12:44 (Pop-up)
Acid Klaus feat. Philly Piper  Aerodromes   Favoriting PTSD By Proxy  Golden Lion Sounds  2024  Adrian Flanagan (The Moonlandingz / Eccentronic Research Council) and his pals a.k.a - ACID KLAUS - return to bring their latest offering 'PTSD By Proxy'. The first single ‘Aerodromes’ (featuring Philly Piper, one member of his current Live collective that you may know from his last single ‘You’re A Freak’) is a pulsating Italo style track with synthetic arpeggiations. Piper's haunting vocals explore the working class struggle and the death of conversation. The full EP drops July 15th, with all digital purchase proceeds going towards Medical Aid For Palestinians. The EP is my artistic response to the horrific vista forced upon me as the earth wobbles perilously on its axis like a drunk and foul mouthed broke and broken auntie. It’s dance music you can cry too - or if you point blank refuse to look out of the window - just for dancing too whilst remaining in a state of ‘pig ignorant’ bliss!’ ‘For me as an artist it’s important that someone documents this time of great historical mess by utilising heavenly voices, robotic sonics, bangin’ beats, street poetry, space chants and nifty synthetic arpeggiations whilst still remaining deep in the ice cold moment of reality.’  *   1:16:15 (Pop-up)
KNEECAP  Parful   Favoriting Fine Art  Heavenly Recordings  2024  Kneecap, who named their band after the IRA practice of doling out kneecappings as punishments for pushing drugs during the Troubles, happily embrace the ire from all sides. They ultimately push a politics centered around working-class people, and their music is more invested in how those people — themselves included — live their lives. Aside from politics, the band cite Desmond Bell’s Dancing on Narrow Ground: Youth & Dance in Ulster, a documentary from the mid-Nineties made for British TV, but never aired. It eventually made its way online, its samizdat aura heightened by its content: a bleary, ebullient depiction of how raves (and copious amounts of MDMA) helped bridge sectarian divides among young people in the North of Ireland during the final years of the Troubles. Kneecap sampled interviews from the film on “Parful” and are striving to cultivate that same spirit around themselves....  *   1:21:26 (Pop-up)

Horace Andy’s haunting vocals have been a defining element of his music since the late '60s. Joy Division  A Means To An End   Favoriting Closer  Factory Records  1980  "Closer is the second and final studio album by the English post-punk band Joy Division, released on 18 July 1980 by Factory Records. Produced by Martin Hannett, it was released two months after the suicide of the band's lead singer and lyricist Ian Curtis. Today, Closer is widely recognised as a seminal release of the post-punk era. Following the release of the non-album single "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in June 1980, the remaining members re-formed as New Order. //// The songs on Closer were drawn from two distinct periods. The earlier guitar-driven compositions were written during the latter half of 1979: "Atrocity Exhibition", "Passover", "Colony", "A Means to an End" and "Twenty Four Hours". All were played live during that year, with some being recorded for various radio sessions. The album's other songs were written in early 1980, and included more prominent use of synthesisers: "Isolation", "Heart and Soul", "The Eternal" and "Decades". Most songs were written or structured during jam sessions in the band's practice room. //// Regarding the album's lyrical content, Bernard Sumner recollected: "We'd go to rehearsals and sit around and talk about really banal things. We'd do that until we couldn't talk about banal things any more, then we'd pick up our instruments and record into a little cassette player. We didn't talk about the music or the lyrics very much. We never analysed it." //// "While we were working on Closer, Ian said to me that doing this album felt very strange, because he felt that all his words were writing themselves. He also said that he had this terrible claustrophobic feeling that he was in a whirlpool and being pulled down, drowning." Bernard Sumner, recollecting on Ian Curtis's mindset during the recording sessions for Closer. October 2007."    1:42:09 (Pop-up)
The Breeders  Meta Goth   Favoriting All Nerve  4AD  2018  "In 2012 Kim and Kelley Deal decided to commemorate the upcoming 20-year anniversary of the Breeders' 1993 album Last Splash by touring in 2013 with the albums original recording personnel and made contact with Josephine Wiggs and Jim MacPherson. At this time Kim and MacPherson had not spoken since their acrimonious split during their time together in the Amps, however both he and Wiggs were interested and their record label, 4AD decided to release a deluxe 20th anniversary version of the album titled LSXX. The tour began in the US, continued in Europe, Australia, and South America, and included the Deerhunter-curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival. A teaser video was made by the band showing the reunited lineup in rehearsal. Reflecting on these rehearsals Kim said of the experience "It feels really natural, but at the same time there is adjustment. Like when Jim set up his drums and I started playing with him, I had to turn around and crank my amplifier up like two numbers. He's pretty loud." At the conclusion of the LSXX tour the band realized how well they were all getting along and decided to record new music together. During the recording at their Ohio studio Courtney Barnett, who was in town for the Nelsonville Music Festival, recorded some backup vocals for "Howl at the Summit". For the duration of the recording process, Wiggs stayed in Kim Deal's attic at her Dayton, Ohio home to avoid having to drive the 10 hour journey to New York."    1:46:08 (Pop-up)
Kim Gordon  It's Dark Inside   Favoriting The Collective  Matador  2024  Released Mar 8, 2024. "The Collective is the second solo studio album by the American musician Kim Gordon, released on March 8, 2024, through Matador Records. //// The album was inspired in part by Jennifer Egan's 2022 novel The Candy House. Producer Justin Raisen sent Gordon several instrumental tracks, over which Gordon sang vocals and added distortion effects. Gordon also said that she wanted the album to be "more beat-oriented" than her last album, 2019's No Home Record."  *   1:49:20 (Pop-up)
Twilight Circus  Electric Africa   Favoriting Dub From The Secret Vaults  Roir  2004  AKA Twilight Circus Dub Sound System AKA Ryan Moore. "Currently based in The Netherlands, Twilight Circus ringmaster Ryan Moore grew up in Canada and was immersed early on in Dub & Reggae. Moore first learned to play instruments by playing along with classic Jamaican recordings, spending countless hours as a youth playing deep reggae grooves. He has been active in the music world since 1981, appearing as a musician on over 60 albums with various artists in numerous genres..." [I came to find out about him through his time as a bassist in The Legendary Pink Dots!] "...A Dub fanatic of the first degree since teenage days, his first studio experiments took place in the mid 80's and when he moved to The Netherlands in 1991, virtually unlimited access to recording studio equipment allowed his knob twisting tendencies to develop to the point of no return. In the studio multi-instrumentalist Moore plays and mixes all the tracks himself"    1:52:56 (Pop-up)

Right?!! Wobble stopped and gave instructions to the soundperson before playing it last night... Essentially to turn his bass up until the audience said it was good, then put tons and tons of delay on his Vocals, then on the snare, then pan the mids throughout the song to bewildering effect... It was great... Everything got twice as much of everything!!!!
