The voice actor on the human gas piece was George S. Irving. He was the voice of the Heat Miser, narrated Underdog, and so on. I slowed down the tempo of that slightly.

The real start was Jacquard's loom cards. We used to have punched notecard where the key info was nipped on the sides with a notch cutter . Then you could search / sort with a kind of knitting needle. en.wikipedia.org...

I was actually programming in the paper tape and punch card days! There is a building on 31 st, the Greeley Arcade, and one floor in 1980, you'd get off the elevator and it would be 1961, with spinning tape reels in enameled cased machines with instructions taped on with yellow cellophane tape, and card readers, and rooms full of little old ladies punching cards, and the line printer making a lot of noise in it s own room, with printouts moved to racks outside the door. Wires and racks all over the place. Run by fully decked out Orthodox Jews. (This was the garment district after all). Sorry I didn't take a picture or two!

I monitor the stream using my iPad connected via Bluetooth to my TEAC CD/Radio. It has a great subwoofer. I stream the show on my laptop. I can comment here, but I attach links via my Android phone because I don't want any errant noises to interrupt the stream.
