	7:11pm Dean: Word has it that Meredith Willson made efforts to attend as many productions of The Music Man as he could. For example, Downey Community Theater staged it more than fifty years ago, and legend has it that Willson attended a performance. Downey is in Southern California, home of The Carpenters, The Blasters, Pat Benatar, and the amazing Wenzell's Music Town.

	7:18pm Dean: Here's David Mason Greene in Fanfare, May/June 1994, on Dahl's Bernstein: "Listening to her rendition of the Candide aria, 1 thought 'This is a tiny voice.' But what followed suggests that that apparent diminution is a product of faulty balance. Bernstein's wonderful spoof is a special favorite of mine (has any other soprano included it in such a recorded recital?), and I have never heard it done better. Oh yes, I've heard others sing it as well, but no one in my experience has gotten inside this ultimate gold-digger as Dahl has—and this not by exaggeration or vocal mugging, but by subtle touches."
