Saw Os Mutantes at the Prospect Park bandshell years ago, and it was in my top ten worst concerts I ever witnessed. Rita Lee wasn’t with the band, and listening to these tunes now I’d say Rita was the (not so)secret ingredient that made the band hum. She’s fantastic

This is precisely what happened. They played a cursory version of Bat Macumba early on then went through a dull, half hearted set list of new material that no one had heard before. Which is fine, but play with some spirit! Anyways I lasted twenty more minutes then bailed. Took the train to Coney and had clams on the boardwalk.
