Their first album is a blast - it's a lot of Folk Music set to very Progy grooves. They are not great singers, but they make it work. Their Chess Concept album is more synthy but a lot of fun. I think they have some very new albums that just dropped after they got back together? I don't know how those are.

I'm engaged in some very delicate parking monitoring right now. Trying to delay until at least after the Roud since the one spot where my Bluetooth can reach has a delivery truck in it right now. But as the exclusion-zone spaces fill up, I have to get the machine into one before they're all gone. Lotta ins. Lotta outs. Lotta threads for the old Handles to keep track of.

South Sudan it is.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
Handy Haversack:

I just finished an article in The Baffler about a Nuer guy rainsed in Nebraska but deported to South Sudan in his twenties and his encounter with the failed state there and the impossibility of his progressing given the networks of corruption and violence that were allowed to take over the country after the United States told itself "job well done" and smugly walked away.

What a terribly sad story in every aspect.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Handy Haversack:

↳ David Dichelle @2:06
Pretty bleak. 400,000 people killed in this most recent civil war so far, I think? No civil services, so everyone just burns garbage all day. The Nuer speakers are apparently the least favored language group, so the Dinka- and Arabic-speaking authorities feel free to beat them and rob them individually and collectively.

But since the U.S. considers it a government, we will deport people there who have lived in the States since before South Sudan even existed.
