Franco, just doing some background reading on the subject, and that razzberry for Mr. Krasnow's production additions are indeed part of the bigger story of those blues jams finding homes on other/subsequent recordings, though I gather in different forms.

I lived right down the street from KROQ in 1978. One afternoon, Don Van Vliet was a guesting on Jed the Fish. I would usually just walk down to the station, but on this day I drove so I could sit in my car and listened to the show. When Don, his wife Janet, and Bruce Fowler came out the back door I was ready. As Don signed my copy of Trout Mask Replica he said "Hey, I like your jacket!"(A filthy thrift-store rag) He paused for a moment then added "You know, I invented punk rock."
