Brian, I worked on an interesting book a couple of years back trying to find a terroir of whiskey (and whisky) and looking for spirits made with identifiably local grains (hard to come by in the states since grains are a commodity and tend to come from central silos). Brucchlaidh on Islay got some attention. Is your rye all harvested from one spot?

Oh ok. I just realized Freddie Mercury is a famous person who also was caught up in that movement. He was born in Zanzibar to (it seems) Farsi-Indian parents. He then moved to India and lived their for some years. Then he moved back to Zanzibar briefly before moving to the UK.

Although technically Bantu, it has some grammar (still mostly bantu) structures of arab/persian, and loan words from all over.... it was a constructed lingua franca b/tn the interior bantu peoples and the arab traders of the coast...
