	♥ 2:55pm Mike Sin: Looking at all three of the Yardbirds' stellar guitarists, Beck has always been the most "otherworldly," as it were. What separates him is the way he used his influences to very quickly move into unexplored styles and technological directions. Unlike say, Clapton or Page, who spent a longer time harnessing and stretching direct influences and expanding "worlds," Beck was downright amazing in the way he quickly created his own new "world" of guitar playing.

Drawing on a wide array of influences - maybe hearing some Hawaiian slack key guitar and thinking, that’s good how can I adapt that? Seemed to embrace the weird in their influences and practiced constantly. Like coming up with a new language.

That same day they played Tulsa and Cherryvale, Kansas. No wonder Beck split shortly thereafter. What separates him is the way he used his influences to very quickly move into unexplored styles and technological directions. Unlike say, Clapton or Page, who spent a longer time harnessing and stretching direct influences and expanding "worlds," Beck was downright amazing in the way he quickly created his own new "world" of guitar playing.
