💖 Hi everybody!!!
  3:02pm
Kittimu:

Whenever I show up a few minutes early I always catch the weirdest/worst stuff on the autoplay
Avatar 3:05pm
Debbie Davenport:

Col Sanders haha
Avatar 3:08pm
Debbie Davenport:

Apologies to Don. I"m still confused about some instagram things. It says I sent him a message 15 minutes before air time. I would never distract my favorite dj like that on purpose right before the show starts. I guess tagging him in a comment to tell people to listen makes a message too?
When I opened the message I supposedly sent it just says to read it I have to download the most recent version of Instagram. I haven't figured how to do that either.
Avatar 3:10pm
Debbie Davenport:

I just wanted jan jorgensen to know who to follow. so I tagged in a comment isntead of just writing out the name. I'll figure it out. trying
  3:11pm
Kittimu:

It gives a notification saying "[person] tagged you in a comment", I think that's all
Avatar 3:12pm
Debbie Davenport:

Oh thank you Kittimu. it's been making me nuts wondering what all these messages are that I cannot read.
  3:13pm
Kittimu:

It's been a while since I got tagged in a comment so I'm not 100% sure on that but I'm pretty sure that's it
Avatar 3:13pm
Debbie Davenport:

I'm sure that's it because it has happened with other people too. In sync with them tagging me or me tagging them.
  3:15pm
Kittimu:

I don't use Instagram much, mostly just following a couple friends' art accounts and keeping tabs on all the bands I like lol

Hello lala lu!!!

IG just started doing that in DMS don't worry.. I think Don knows you're not tryin to chit chat before a radio show
Avatar 3:17pm

I noticed you weren't very active on there kittimu. I"m less active on fb and more on IG lately. I love the vinyl obsessed people. They are all over that place! I don't know as many through fb.
Avatar 3:18pm
Debbie Davenport:

Thanks for the reassurance lala lu.
  3:19pm

I never know what to post lol. I don't have a record collection like you do, and I sure don't have an interesting life

this abba song's a good one
  3:23pm
Cheree July:

Yeah, even Don thinks it's pretty good too.
Avatar 3:23pm
Debbie Davenport:

I'm sure your life is more interesting than mine Kittimu. I'm like an old married person who watches tv with their husband at night instead of making the club scenes. Looking at records and talking about them is the only interesting about me.
  3:23pm
Skinny Robbie:

That picture sleeve is a bad fit for that song.
  3:24pm
Kittimu:

I'm not much of an Abba enjoyer but this is still a bop
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:24pm

Walked straight into ABBA, which shouldn't be too much of a surprise on Wired Up.
  3:25pm
Kittimu:

Debbie, all I do in the evenings is watch tv too, I don't leave the house a lot, not much going on around here 😔
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:28pm

And hey all from Sunday morning down here
Avatar 3:29pm

I guess it's easy to assume other peoples lives are more exciting.

I could never get up at 6 to listen to this, for me it starts at 1 PM and even then I've slept through part of it once or twice 😅😅😅
  3:32pm

I just woke up at noon ish pacific standard time... work odd hours n also fluuuu ..this is good cheer up zone vibe .. huts alright I got a snow ball!! ❄️

That wouldn't necessarily need to be in NYNJ??

This Rocket summer song is super sexy. But still with a goofy vibe.
  3:46pm
Cheree July:

Debbie, I was telling Don it's a perfect roller skating/Summer song, but Don isn't super into it. 🤷‍♀️

I've been meaning to take up roller skating
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:48pm

Beach Boy vibes a plenty
Avatar 3:48pm
Debbie Davenport:

I'm glad he plays it for us anyway. That was one thing I didn't like about being a dj. Listeners wanting to hear songs I didn't like. IN the 80's people wanted to hear "Punk Rock Girl" by the dead milkmen all the time. Then I thought I had escaped that request in the 90's at a different station in a different state. Nope. I got requests for that eery fucking show for years! I finally lied and said it wasn't at the station anymore.
  3:49pm
Kittimu:

I could never be a dj, then. Nothing gives me a superiority complex faster than being just slightly annoyed
  3:50pm
Skinny Robbie:

Punk Rock Girl *IS* a classic, though.
Avatar 3:50pm
Debbie Davenport:

haha Kittimu. I love that comment.
Avatar 3:51pm
Debbie Davenport:

It is Robbie.
  3:51pm
Skinny Robbie:

Try being a DJ at a classic rock station...ugh!
  3:52pm
Kittimu:

My local classic rock station plays Enter Sandman by Metallica every three seconds and I'm getting sick of it
Avatar 3:52pm
Debbie Davenport:

Kittimu, my friends and I would request this Sweet song from the roller rink djs. That is totally my timing when it came out.
Avatar 3:53pm
Debbie Davenport:

I hate that about commercial stations.
  3:53pm
Skinny Robbie:

I worked at a classic rock station in Cali...and I regularly played the Dead Milkmen just to buck the system, lol. Ironic.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:53pm
Aitch:

Sweet was huge in primary school, also here in OZ ABBA and AC/DC. Hush and Supernaut were a couple of local glam bands, Skyhooks too to some extent.
  3:54pm
Cheree July:

Debbie, that sounds like classic rock stations from where I used to live in PA.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
Aitch:

And Suzi Q and egads Bay City Rollers
  3:55pm
Kittimu:

My local classic rock stations suck. Whenever they play a david bowie song it's always Fame or Space Oddity. Mostly Fame. I didn't hear Suffragette City until, um, coming up on three years ago, early 2020, they were playing it cause it was his deathday, and I was like "wait, this guy's GOOD?" Don't ask how I got from just getting into Bowie to being here so fast. I'm a very efficient person.
  3:56pm
Kittimu:

side note this suzi quatro song is so good 😌
  3:56pm
Cheree July:

Kittimu, where do you live where you have sucky classic rock stations?
  3:56pm
Skinny Robbie:

Our local classic rock station occasionally plays "Panic in Detroit" (!) to my astonishment.
  3:57pm
Skinny Robbie:

That Suzi Q documentary is awesome!
Avatar 3:57pm
Debbie Davenport:

I remember picking out rick rack for an outfit my mom was making me. I thought it made me look tough like suzi. A simple fabric store notion made me feel bad ass and ready to chase and tackle the boys. Kids are so funny!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Aitch:

Why are you listening to classic rock stations anyway????
  3:57pm
Kittimu:

I'm from Colorado.
  3:58pm
Kittimu:

I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car lol
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Aitch:

Funny how Colorado is more socially remote than Oz, but I have been to the USA a few times so I get it.
  3:59pm
Skinny Robbie:

In my parts, our stations are modern pop / hip hop, country, classic rock. Only in car listening. Often, it's so bad, I choose silence.
  3:59pm
Kittimu:

It's pretty boring around here unless you drive up to a big city, but that's how all places are
  4:01pm
Kittimu:

Dang Robbie, I hope you've invested in some CDs/cassettes/digital music (I don't know how old or new your car is so I'm trying to cover all the bases)
  4:02pm
Skinny Robbie:

I have a CD player in car, but have overplayed everything to death. I actually buy stuff like Jack Jones to mix things up.
  4:03pm
Kittimu:

Oh man.
  4:03pm
Cheree July:

Really, Colorado classic rock stations suck?
Avatar 4:03pm
Debbie Davenport:

Kittimu, we all have different places and timings. I wasd afraid of David Bowie when I was like 6 because he was doing the ziggy stardust look and I was confused and thinking he worked for Satan. it's a long story I won't get into beyond that. Then as a teenager I had a boyfirnd who whipped out his acoustic guitar and sang to me every song on ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars album. so got more familiar before college where everyone who was cool was into him.
Don't ever feel lesser than someone else over when and where you learn things.
I learned about punk when I was isolated in a forest. I will fucking fight any jerk who thinks I don't deserve to be part of that because I wasn't in their place at their time. They can "go die" as folks used to say.
  4:04pm
Kittimu:

Cheree, the stations aren't the worst, but some of them definitely aren't great. At least there's a few of them so I can switch back and forth sometimes.
  4:08pm

I can do it I can really Rock 🤍🤍

Avatar 4:10pm

Hey Becky! Is your mouth healing well?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:10pm

Best thing about WFMU is there are folks that have devoted their lives to some sort of music and actually curate it for us. The more you hear the less you know in this place.
Drummer stream you're lucky if you've ever even heard of the artist let alone the track they're playing, but because they picked it it'll be a good one anyway.

Becky Ebenkamp:

Hey, Deb!
I suppose as well as can be expected. It’s hard to get used to the gaping hole.

Reading your previous comment: I was the perfect age for that first wave if Ramones/Sex Pistols punk—about 12. It seemed so silly and juvenile—you know, for kids. We wouldn’t tell other kids at school we liked it tho. That was Aerosmith Country.

A favorite pasttime out here is for men to relive their glory days when they were “the only punk rocker at the school.” First, no you weren’t, bc I’ve heard that story so many times you kids would have been the majority. They go on about how how they were prescient pariahs. They make a trip to the cafeteria sound like D Day or something.

Yes! There is also the zines who say you are inferior so don't even try or you are a poseur. Well, does that mean you do not want us to buy your zine or see the bands or buy the band merch? ONly for people who participated in the 70s then why are you telling us 80s kids to stay away. I don't want to argue that my timing was 1979, and I"m from California, etc. It's flawed. A flawed argument and they might as well seal themselves up in a time capsule somewhere if they are that rigid.
One dork keeps sending me facebook friend requests and then says are you even from Los Angeles. what an asshole! I keep blocking him then he sends me another request on a new account. He is the one contacting me. to tell me I don't deserve to like punk? so sillyl

I once once in a band (crappy, albeit) and a well known rock magazine slammed us. With photos. The ethos of this very mag seemed to be anyone can pick up a cheap guitar, learn three chords and be a “band.” But they were snobs. Maybe not everyone there. They did have a legendary writer who sang the praises of BG.
