Hello HD!!

Looking forward to at least part of your special program... and what a nice start. Have a meeting at the 30 minute mark.
Avatar 4:03pm

I am going to try not to cry during today's show. At least not on mic. (My mom is alive and well, but it's all so nostalgic and emotional!)
Avatar 4:03pm
Mr Fab:

Hi DJ RBG, and all groovy moms!

Ah, your mother is alive. that's good - this seemed like a tribute show. Nice to get a tribute while you're still around to enjoy it!

Muddyrich:

Hey RBandG
  4:14pm
Muddyrich:

How are they arranged in the bucket?
  4:15pm
Muddyrich:

Did you scratch them up as a child?
Avatar 4:17pm
Rubberband Girl:

They are just all thrown in on top of each other, stacked for decades.
  4:18pm
Muddyrich:

My parents had no Beatles records, but for some reason they had Between the Buttons. And then they friends of friends or family of Jorma K and the Creedence guys

Hey DJRBG and all. Doing a jerry-rigged show remote today. Hope it works!

weird to think of someone's mom owning a Seeds record, haha.

I was surprised when I first came across it, lol!

As we'd say on The Perfumed Garden, SEEDS EVERY WEEK!!!
Avatar 4:25pm
spacebrother:

I can totally see these from a mom's bin. My mom's 45s were songs from 1950s and '60s Japan. Hence the influence on my lists.
Avatar 4:25pm
Rubberband Girl:

I recently learned that this is a song by Roger McGuinn & Gene Clark – a Byrds throwaway!
  4:25pm
Muddyrich:

Which Byrd wrote this?
Avatar 4:25pm

Roger (Jim) & Gene!

You guys wanna guess what year she was born?!
Avatar 4:28pm
David in California:

RBG, it's great that your mother kept buying singles. Some teens, as they got older and got more money, started buying albums and developed a condescending attitude toward singles.
Avatar 4:28pm
Domenic:

1958?
Avatar 4:29pm

Of course with this one. Love it.

Hi, have been listening but busy with work. I was wondering why you are playing something different than usual. Your Mom has a great 45 collection! These are all vintage original 45s she bought back in the day?
Avatar 4:31pm
Mr Fab:

I was closest! what do I win?
  4:32pm
Muddyrich:

‘52-‘55
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
WR:

Either she has excellent taste or she bought hundreds of 45s and you are being selective. What part of the country did she grow up in?
Avatar 4:33pm
HyperDose:

I would never guess a woman's age #MaleFeminist hehe

LOL! Mom should join the comments and answer back here.
Avatar 4:36pm

I think this is the first time anyone has entered this one into the WFMU database.
Avatar 4:36pm

Ha! Blondie's label!
Avatar 4:38pm

Might be swooning over that Nancy & Lee number for the rest of the afternoon 😳
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm
WR:

I'm around you Mom's age but no 45s survived from before I left home and by then I was an album guy.
  4:39pm
Muddyrich:

You used to be able to get great 45’s in the 10 cent bin at Longs Drugs in California. My mother picked up Who, Kinks, Dr. John, Creedence, Bobby Freeman, Dr. John, the Crystals from there just to name a few she got for my kiddie turntable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
Feldy:

When I was a kid I thought they said "Medieval Woman"
Avatar 4:42pm
Mr Fab:

Feldy: don't give Weird Al any ideas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm
Feldy:

LOL Oh no
  4:43pm
Muddyrich:

I still think he’s singing Medieval Woman
Avatar 4:43pm
Rubberband Girl:

I did, too, Feldy, and my mom told me the other day that SHE did, too!! One of the reasons why I chose to play that one. XD
Avatar 4:44pm

This would be a great playlist for any decent party!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm

Are you playing live from the 45s?
Avatar 4:45pm
Rubberband Girl:

No, sadly – hers are all pretty trashed, but we keep them for sentimental reasons.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm
Feldy:

@HyperDose, where can one view the Jeff Lynne doc?
Avatar 4:52pm

When I hear this Madonna song, all I can think of is that Weird Al "Polkas on 45" parody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
Feldy:

"I made up MY mind" she said
Avatar 4:53pm
HyperDose:

@Feldy I got it off a torrent site. Would be happy to upload it to Google Drive and email a link if anyone wants.
