OK. the Magic is coming
Avatar 4:00pm HyperDose:

Receiving transmission loud and clear!
Avatar 4:01pm Rubberband Girl:

Hi Dom!!
Avatar 4:01pm Rubberband Girl:

Hello HD!!
Avatar 4:02pm Domenic:

Looking forward to at least part of your special program... and what a nice start. Have a meeting at the 30 minute mark.
Avatar 4:03pm Rubberband Girl:

I am going to try not to cry during today's show. At least not on mic. (My mom is alive and well, but it's all so nostalgic and emotional!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Mr Fab:

Hi DJ RBG, and all groovy moms!
Avatar 4:04pm Domenic:

((((heart))))
Avatar 4:04pm Rubberband Girl:

Greetings and salutations, Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Mr Fab:

Ah, your mother is alive. that's good - this seemed like a tribute show. Nice to get a tribute while you're still around to enjoy it!
  4:13pm Muddyrich:

Hey RBandG
  4:14pm Muddyrich:

How are they arranged in the bucket?
  4:15pm Muddyrich:

Did you scratch them up as a child?
Avatar 4:17pm Rubberband Girl:

They are just all thrown in on top of each other, stacked for decades.
  4:18pm Muddyrich:

My parents had no Beatles records, but for some reason they had Between the Buttons. And then they friends of friends or family of Jorma K and the Creedence guys
Avatar 4:21pm spacebrother:

Hey DJRBG and all. Doing a jerry-rigged show remote today. Hope it works!
Avatar 4:21pm Rubberband Girl:

Fingers crossed!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Mr Fab:

weird to think of someone's mom owning a Seeds record, haha.
Avatar 4:23pm Rubberband Girl:

I was surprised when I first came across it, lol!
Avatar 4:23pm HyperDose:

As we'd say on The Perfumed Garden, SEEDS EVERY WEEK!!!
Avatar 4:25pm spacebrother:

I can totally see these from a mom's bin. My mom's 45s were songs from 1950s and '60s Japan. Hence the influence on my lists.
Avatar 4:25pm Rubberband Girl:

I recently learned that this is a song by Roger McGuinn & Gene Clark – a Byrds throwaway!
  4:25pm Muddyrich:

Which Byrd wrote this?
Avatar 4:25pm Rubberband Girl:

Roger (Jim) & Gene!
  4:26pm Muddyrich:

Whoa! She had Walkers!
Avatar 4:26pm Rubberband Girl:

Just this one, but yeah!!
Avatar 4:27pm Rubberband Girl:

You guys wanna guess what year she was born?!
Avatar 4:28pm David in California:

RBG, it's great that your mother kept buying singles. Some teens, as they got older and got more money, started buying albums and developed a condescending attitude toward singles.
Avatar 4:28pm Domenic:

1958?
Avatar 4:29pm spacebrother:

Of course with this one. Love it.
  4:29pm Muddyrich:

1952?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Mr Fab:

1947
Avatar 4:30pm Rubberband Girl:

1949!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:30pm WR:

Hi, have been listening but busy with work. I was wondering why you are playing something different than usual. Your Mom has a great 45 collection! These are all vintage original 45s she bought back in the day?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Mr Fab:

I was closest! what do I win?
  4:32pm Muddyrich:

‘52-‘55
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:33pm WR:

Either she has excellent taste or she bought hundreds of 45s and you are being selective. What part of the country did she grow up in?
Avatar 4:33pm HyperDose:

I would never guess a woman's age #MaleFeminist hehe
  4:33pm Muddyrich:

On Preflyte
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm WR:

LOL! Mom should join the comments and answer back here.
Avatar 4:36pm Rubberband Girl:

I think this is the first time anyone has entered this one into the WFMU database.
Avatar 4:36pm spacebrother:

Ha! Blondie's label!
Avatar 4:38pm HyperDose:

Might be swooning over that Nancy & Lee number for the rest of the afternoon 😳
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:38pm WR:

I'm around you Mom's age but no 45s survived from before I left home and by then I was an album guy.
  4:39pm Muddyrich:

You used to be able to get great 45’s in the 10 cent bin at Longs Drugs in California. My mother picked up Who, Kinks, Dr. John, Creedence, Bobby Freeman, Dr. John, the Crystals from there just to name a few she got for my kiddie turntable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Feldy:

When I was a kid I thought they said "Medieval Woman"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Mr Fab:

Feldy: don't give Weird Al any ideas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Feldy:

LOL Oh no
  4:43pm Muddyrich:

I still think he’s singing Medieval Woman
Avatar 4:43pm Rubberband Girl:

I did, too, Feldy, and my mom told me the other day that SHE did, too!! One of the reasons why I chose to play that one. XD
Avatar 4:44pm spacebrother:

This would be a great playlist for any decent party!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Feldy:

So validating, RBG :)
  4:44pm Muddyrich:

Lynne is definitely singing something before evil
Avatar 4:44pm Rubberband Girl:

When I start doing weddings, yes, this will be my core.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:45pm WR:

Are you playing live from the 45s?
Avatar 4:45pm Rubberband Girl:

No, sadly – hers are all pretty trashed, but we keep them for sentimental reasons.
Avatar 4:45pm HyperDose:

The Jeff Lynne doc is fantastic. Was watching it on a loop while putting a new bed frame together.
Avatar 4:46pm Rubberband Girl:

A lot of them play OK for home enjoyment...
Avatar 4:46pm Rubberband Girl:

I would like to watch that, HD!
  4:46pm Muddyrich:

I used to sing THIS song to MY daughter while dancing to get her mesmerized and ready to sleep…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm DJ Guin:

I am smokin' a Kool while skating..
Avatar 4:48pm Rubberband Girl:

My mom was a roller skater!
Avatar 4:48pm Rubberband Girl:

In fact she continued to skate while pregnant with me...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm DJ Guin:

i feel so Jurassic now
Avatar 4:51pm HyperDose:

@RBG This is it: www.imdb.com...
Heya Guin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Feldy:

@HyperDose, where can one view the Jeff Lynne doc?
Avatar 4:52pm spacebrother:

When I hear this Madonna song, all I can think of is that Weird Al "Polkas on 45" parody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Feldy:

"I made up MY mind" she said
Avatar 4:53pm HyperDose:

@Feldy I got it off a torrent site. Would be happy to upload it to Google Drive and email a link if anyone wants.
Avatar 4:55pm Domenic:

"Origin story" Love it. Like a comic book character..
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:55pm WR:

Great episode! Your Mom rules!
Avatar 4:55pm HyperDose:

Thanks for sharing mom's secret stash with us, RBG!
  4:56pm Muddyrich:

My daughter roller skates now..,
Avatar 4:56pm David in California:

RBG, I really enjoyed today's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Feldy:

Thanks Rubberband Girl! Pretty mom
  4:56pm Muddyrich:

Guessing your dad was a bit older…
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:56pm WR:

Hoolie Hoolie skirt?

Thank you, great episode!
Avatar 4:57pm Rubberband Girl:

There will be an awkward few seconds, Greg, but I will fill it! @MR: My dad and her are the same age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Feldy:

@HyperDose very kind of you would love a copy
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:58pm WR:

This is a record her Mom's Dad had. Grandpa's record.
Avatar 4:58pm Rubberband Girl:

Thanks for sharing in this, friends!!
Avatar 4:58pm Rubberband Girl:

Did I say her dad's dad? It was her dad.
Avatar 4:58pm spacebrother:

Thank YOU.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:58pm WR:

+1 Hyperdose on the Lynne doc.
Avatar 4:59pm Rubberband Girl:

This is the exit music...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:00pm WR:

OK, we got it now, her Dad, your Grandad.
  5:00pm Muddyrich:

Sorry misheard on the dad
Avatar 5:00pm Rubberband Girl:

Oh MY grandpa, yes! LOL
Avatar 5:01pm Rubberband Girl:

  10:57pm Tom Lynch:

  11:19pm Frances:
