A bagbipes and bombard show with musicians from Brittany playing music from composers from Japan, Austria, Lebanon, and the US. Bagpipes at the Japanese cultural center, it did make sense as the opening piece was a prayer about the earthquake 10 years ago. Japanese musicians can't come here yet (well, they can, but then they can't go back), so they rely on expats

OK, too many shortcuts there. A Japanese composer had been living in Brittany for a while when the earthquake hit. He wrote a piece about it for a bagpipe player he had worked with and trusted. That guy wanted to play Glass' "Music in similar motion", but some parts were too low, so he got a custom baritone bombard made. Because the pandemic shut down everything with Japan, it happened. It's a weird good thing to come out of it.
