There were predecessors to bittorrent, focused on sharing live and OOP recordings of particular bands.Not like the blogs being discussed.

I participated in some Livejournal blogs, I participated in a couple that were Japanese music focused. When? I dunno, pre-2007, after 2000.
Avatar 🇰🇷 Swag For Life Member 7:38pm

Looks like 2002-3 was when I learned of music blogs. I recall I found the 365 day project in March / April of 2003, The LJ based blogs sometime after that.

@Webhamster Henry
It was exhausting to produce. I usually did my writing for those posts 1-3am. I just couldn't sustain it. I bet fewer than 10% of the download links are still active.

We desperately need to wrest the Interwebz from Monopolies. But if I discover a Station - I want its stream address to put on a playlist in iTunes. That also has my EQ settings for every pair of speakers in my trap... If I discover a Podcast - I try & Subscribe - & get it delivered automatically - thru iTunes... If I wanna communicate ...crapdammit ...Evil Zuckerland is where the most people are. Blogs are a bit more like the Decentralized promise it was all supposed to be - but getting my attention there @ the right times would be the hard part...

Jacob! I should have added those links in when I was creating the playlist. I'll tell you what, I'll go back to this after -- this weekend if I have a chance -- and do just that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
Gary:

Okay, I'm trying to add a few of them now ...
  9:26pm
peter:

WR - yeah, many of the musicians whose music i've shared are still performing, and in speaking with several them they've told me that as regards their old recordings, they got paid once and maybe a second time when their song hit, but never saw anything past that, so they had no qualms with it circulating in this way (i even had a. tinnakorn attapaiboon in for a guest post!).. i've spoken with a couple of labels who own the rights to my posts, as well, and they had said with their limited plans to market outside of thailand, they had no problem with it either.. i think it's probably a different story sharing newly released music that artists are still hoping to earn money from, but i haven't gotten involved with that.. i know that Sahel Sounds have a model (for their WhatsApp series at least) where i believe basically all the earnings go straight to the artists.. but they're a real live label now, so
