  1:31pm Morgan from Philly:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm OtisSondy:

Both at the same time HyperDose, superhero underoo action there!
Avatar 1:33pm ironybread:

Hi Morgan! That guy sneerin' at the protest singers is no match against the glory of Summer Pop Power
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:33pm OtisSondy:

Happy to be tuned in on a rainy Saturday here eating toast with strawberry jam, sending cool weather to Rich.
Avatar 1:36pm ARB:

Good morning!

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm chresti:

Good Morning ironybread and puzzlers!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm OtisSondy:

Hi chresti (and franco if about)!
Avatar 1:40pm ironybread:

Hi chresti! We're spinnin' the discs and pushin' the bits to give you all the hot hot hits!
Avatar 1:40pm HyperDose:

I'd wear a belt on my head if it wasn't trademarked by Quailman
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Rich in Washington:

This music makes me feel existentially doomed and I LOVE IT.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm chresti:

Hi OtisSondy! Franco is around here someplace.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm OtisSondy:

Rich, with the heat it must feel like the 2nd or 3rd plain of hell's inferno.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Rich in Washington:

I am sort of used to and liking the heat now - plus, bonus free feeling of existential doom.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm OtisSondy:

I will send Flight F-I-N-A-L your way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Hey Otis. looking at the records you played last night, I can only guess that is was some kind of a smut fest.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:48pm chresti:

So far we're getting the 90s for this heatwave. The Inland Empire will get the hundreds, I imagine. Talk about hell!
  1:50pm Morgan from Philly:

cooling down in the frozen hedge maze with these hits!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm chresti:

ironybread, I appreciate the hot bits with these top hits.
Avatar 1:51pm ironybread:

Hi Franco! Hi Morgan! We're the greatest game in town, so why not come play with us forever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Franco Twinkie:

I think the graphic design for The Shining album cover was swiped from The Obsession album cover by Bernard Herman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Irony, I hope you got your bike ride in early.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:53pm OtisSondy:

Franco, it was a wild cover ride for sure.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Rich in Washington:

Pitching a new reality series, Dining With Deezen. Wish me luck. Eddie's between managers, so maybe an easy catch.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chresti:

I'm wearing worn out cotton knit lounge pants that I bought at the cvs in Pasadena, and a men's short sleeve poplin button down shirt from Out of The Closet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Franco Twinkie:

Otis, I was at Poobah Records yesterday, and I have to go right back as soon as they open because I left my camera there.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:57pm OtisSondy:

Hope you find (or found) some good record finds Franco and get some more plums on the way back for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Franco Twinkie:

I thought of hitting the Pasadena famers market first, but it's already too hot.
Avatar 1:58pm ironybread:

good old Poobah, last time I was there I bought this sweetie www.discogs.com...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm chresti:

I missed the "visuals" last night on the Torch, OtisSondy, not the same experience with just the phone.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm OtisSondy:

Oooooh, the album with Dead Puppies. Love that album.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm chresti:

Oh my, ironybread!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm OtisSondy:

Leland did not look either chresti, he could not take it.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:02pm OtisSondy:

Just looked up Poobah Records in Pasadena, looks like a really cool spot.
Avatar 2:02pm ironybread:

soooooooooo much exposed skin on that playlist, Otis, not a sight for the innocents of this world
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Mr Fab:

Hello Mr Bread, and fellow puzzle-masters. There was an entire Ogden Edsel album?! Don’t know much beyond “Dead Puppies” and their New Wave-y “Daddy’s Money.” What’s the rest of it like, kinda Barnes and Barnes-esque, I imagine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Franco Twinkie:

There is always tons of stuff to squander your money on at Poobah. Last week I got a copy of The Complacent Americans, a Civil Defense audio melodrama about getting incinerated by the H-bomb.
Avatar 2:03pm ironybread:

Hi Fab! It's really good, help yourself taylorjessen.blogspot.com...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm spodiodi:

greets, ironybread and everyone
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm spodiodi:

hearing the robot, eh?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm OtisSondy:

Poobah makes me wanna venture out to record shops today.
Avatar 2:04pm ironybread:

Hi spodi! We're rockin' and rollin' our way to cool times with your hot hit parade on the Internet's #1 hit music station
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:05pm OtisSondy:

Hi spodi !
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:06pm OtisSondy:

All this Penderecki goes well with the rain and windows open.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:06pm spodiodi:

👍🎶🔥🔥🔥
(forget my mention of listening to the robot... user error (again)) :-B

hi OtiSondy!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:07pm OtisSondy:

Shining soundtrack is a fav (score + songs).
Avatar 2:09pm Arb:

I was going to take a bath but now I'm second guessing....
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm spodiodi:

Mr Fab, it took me years to realize Dead Puppies was a a cover, after the only time i'd heard it was being performed at a battle of the bands... coincidentally, it's been on my mind -- i forget how or where, but yesterday, i think, it or something related to it came up... and now you just mentioned it. i'm going to need to exercise this thing... dead puppies really aren't much for (for most people)
Avatar 2:10pm ironybread:

hee hee, yes Arb today's soundtrack is going to provide some rather disturbing images to distract from the pleasure of your bath
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm chresti:

I need a shower, soon, today.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm spodiodi:

"people say i'm crazy, just a little touch. but maybe showers remind me of Psycho too much"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm chresti:

The only time I think of Psycho in the shower is when I'm alone in a motel.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm spodiodi:

touched*
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm chresti:

(hi again, spodi)\\//
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm spodiodi:

one of my recurring nightmares involves my walking up the steps to the Psycho house and opening the door :S
Avatar 2:14pm Arb:

I stayed at a motel in Fort Bidwell a few years ago that was straight out of Psycho, a shared bathroom and the doors to the rooms didn't lock. Coffee was 25 cents.
Avatar 2:15pm Arb:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm spodiodi:

hi again, chresti! \\//
Avatar 2:17pm ironybread:

All right folks, here is where things get interesting - I want everyone to listen carefully and see if you can tell me what particular effect has been applied to the source recording for this performance
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:18pm spodiodi:

turning things up to 11 to try my best
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm chresti:

I took my toddler son to a motel in Lake Elsinore that said the water was from a hot spring, when I drew the bath, the water was black and smelled like sulfur.
Avatar 2:22pm ironybread:

black water isn't a confidence-builder in the let's-get-clean department
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Mr Fab:

I believe PooBahs Records was ground zero for the formation of the LA Free Music Society, hey trivia fans.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Rich in Washington:

I hear some phase shifting going on.
Avatar 2:25pm ironybread:

I think you're right, Rich
Avatar 2:26pm ironybread:

I've been working for some time to determine exactly why the Shining soundtrack LP went out of print so fast, and has never been reissued
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:26pm chresti:

Fab, Tom Recchion worked there. I'd say Potts Plumbing and a studio they had in Old Town Pasadena was ground zeros, too.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Rich in Washington:

If I ever find a copy of The Shining out in the wild, I will likely scream out loud and will also have to buy a pair of pants, so hopefully it'll be at a Goodwill store.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:26pm spodiodi:

had to stop mid-face-shave to see the anser. nice going, Rich! (i didn't stand a chance)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

I can't believe some smartypants hipster labels hasn't reissued it yet. i suspect the reasons not are the same reasons it went out of print so fast. Either and ancient curse or publishing. Or both.
Avatar 2:29pm ironybread:

This may have nothing to do with the issue, but long story short, I went looking for every available version of "Awakening of Jacob" that existed at the time the movie was made, and there is an "Awakening of Jacob" performed by the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra as conducted by Penderecki, it's included on this LP: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 2:29pm ironybread:

...but that performance is NOT what's in the movie, or on the soundtrack
Avatar 2:31pm ironybread:

Which is interesting, but it takes me no closer to figuring out if the old story about "licensing problems" is true, or why
Avatar 2:31pm Arb:

I would like to stay in a blackwater baths hotel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes Mr. Fab. Last night I was there with Rick Potts under the premise of doing some songs. We wound up talking about everything under the sun. No music was made. After, we went to El Super Burrito for shrimp enchiladas, and he told me a hilarious story about going to Disneyland with Monitor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Franco Twinkie:

See what happens when I actually try and do some work and I'm away from the screen? I have to tell a story after the fact.
Avatar 2:38pm Arb:

Franco, I scored a 28lb box of organic dried apricots yesterday, you interested?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Franco Twinkie:

YES!!!!
Avatar 2:41pm ironybread:

This album is highly recommended, it's truly batshit - it got a great CD reissue a while back: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 2:42pm Arb:

This is fabulous Taylor, really loving this set today and this Zmartwychwstanie in particular
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:42pm chresti:

ARB, it was listed in a book on hot springs, that I had, not sure if it's still in it's derelict state that it was when we were there in 90-91. Seems like (if it still existed) it would be a "spa" or "resort" by now?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:44pm chresti:

What ARB said, ironybread.
Avatar 2:44pm Arb:

I can drop off the apricots at the tennis court one day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Franco Twinkie:

I was working at Universal Studios on a TV commercial, and one of my tasks was to put drapery in the windows of the Psycho house. It was a miserably hot day and I was up on the catwalks sweating like a pig and below me sitting in the dirt was an anvil case with a tape loop of the shower sequence music inside. Every time the tour tram would pass by the stabbing music would start. The place was filthy and full of racoon shit. That was so much fun.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chresti:

Oh, that would be great, ARB! I'll be off this week though, I'll be at the studio off and on packing stuff up to move.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Franco Twinkie:

Alina, if you come over to the studio I'll buy you a pizza at Hail Mary.
Avatar 2:53pm Arb:

You're moving your studio in Atwater Chresti? That sounds like a plan Franco.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:55pm OtisSondy:

Thanks Ironybread for the lovely soundtrack this afternoon. Sailing down a river, with all of you.
Avatar 2:56pm Arb:

IronyBread again, huge props for this episode, I feel like I just walked out of a movie theater after a breathtaking picture.
Avatar 2:56pm ironybread:

A summer day, a parasol, a punt, a river of blood and thou
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm chresti:

Yeah, I was supposed to be out by next week, but my landlady gave me 15 more days.
Avatar 2:57pm Arb:

You've had that studio for decades right? That's a big deal
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:57pm spodiodi:

bloody good show, ironybread! thank you!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm chresti:

Hail Mary is open Wednesday.
It's a monster, ARB! Since 1998.
Avatar 2:58pm Arb:

I can't come on Wednesday but next Friday?
Avatar 2:59pm Arb:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderful show today! I feel like I'm snowed in a cozy resort with my existential dread for company!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm spodiodi:

Avatar 2:59pm ironybread:

Thanks for listening everybody! Stay cool! Just not frozen outside a haunted hotel!!!!!

Avatar 3:00pm Arb:

LOL Rich!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:00pm OtisSondy:

We fell off the boat in the red water. Going to swim to shore. Feeling wired up now.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:00pm chresti:
