Rough translation of lyrics to "Nafas"

Even If the only distance between us is one breath, then take my breath
To become one, if my death is enough, then take my breath

Oh, dear you, who lives under one roof with me
Oh you, who always cry with me

Even crying was a distance, so our last crying was the end of love game, was the end of this caravan

Imagining you, burning in fire of each breath
It's a sorrow but not that endurable

Your new companion in vigil
Quivers, full of love spears
There is not even a rifle-pit

Yesterday is good, still
a pattern of me on a cross, sew it on your garment
In the time of love's nakedness, with this worthless pattern, burn in fever

There are probably two post-Revolutionary musics. One from inside Iran and one from those currently in exile.

Saffron absolutely does have a flavor. It has to, given the expense. (But no, really, it does.)

I keep pushing for other local stations to emulate the WFMU radio engagement model. WFMU has a project, The Audience Engine, that's supposed to help with that, although I don't know how active it is. But most stations don't even have the rudiments of real-time information: live playlists, live schedules, mirrored social media posts.

I just learned that Quentin Tarantino was an Elvis imitator and he performed on "Golden Girls" and the residuals from that were what allowed him to make Reservoir Dogs (looking at older comments). I guess yesterday was Elvis's bday.

Za'atar on a sitar, the Persian stylings of a well seasoned clavier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 10:52am Webhamster Henry:

The WFMU chatboard cleverly keeps it simple: no pictures or bold text, mostly hidden URLs that don't auto-fetch, etc. and of course, ad free and WFMU doesn't do anything much with your song, show or DJ likes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 10:52am Doug Schulkind:

I'd like some link shortcuts, like @playing which would be replaced with a link to what's playing now in the playlist, so you'd more easily know what I'm commenting on.
  🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 11:04am Listener Gregory:

@Webmaster H, you are a genius. That would be fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 11:05am Doug Schulkind:

This Hawes-Mingus-Richmond trio makes me think (for obvious reasons) of the amazing Money Jungle trio Ellington-Mingus-Roach.

Speaking of Max Roach, HAPPY 96TH BIRTHDAY, MAX ROACH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 11:05am WR:

Still on the phone but awake and logged in. Mingus take me gently into the day.

@L Gregory, it falls to Kenzo to implement these extra features. But, in the words of the Haggaddah, Dayenu.

@Dean ....and. Did you see God, oh no that was Black Sabbath @78.
  🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 11:07am Listener Gregory:

The Money Jungle trio became kind of a competition to see who could play most aggressively. It was interesting but tiring. This Mingus trio piece is just beautiful.
  Fri. 1/10/20 11:08am Dean:

Backwards "Rev'n 9"? Sounds like a Telemann cantata.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Fri. 1/10/20 11:08am Webhamster Henry:

You can possibly turn on text to speech options, although something less distracted by other things on the page would improve the experience.

Can't believe it's almost four years since Marco Eneidi died. Still so sad.
  Fri. 1/10/20 11:11am Dean:

Shortly before he died I attended a Brotzmann show in SF. The opening band was going to include Eneidi, along with Ben Goldberg and others, but they reported that he was out with stomach flu.

Soon, it will be time to warm last night's leftovers:

Tarragon Rigatoni and Cheese, with Vermont aged cheddar, good parmesan, and Délice de Bourgogne. Six-year-old gave a double thumbs-up.

This Manu Dibango track is from a "library" record, the very essence of exotica fetishism.

There's a good series of solo guitar compilations called "I Never Meta Guitar," with excellent contemporary guitarists. All the cuts are new. On the Clean Feed label.
