the snow came on hard early, but quickly eased back to tiny, pretty flakes being driven by the wind down here in northern nj. it's windy here but not icy icy cold out. snow's sticking to turf but melting on macadam. i'm sure that will change.

You are not incorrect that there is a particular model of guitar that is called a parlor guitar, but (according to many sources, including the liners to "Rural Parlor Guitar"), it is also a style and repertoire of a certain style of finger-picked instrumental playing.

I don't have any Butch M cued up for today's show. I am not much of a "memorial" programmer, though I dearly loved Butch and his music. (That said, some times I DO play music of a recently departed artist. Not sure what leads me to do or not. I just follow my heart.)

I guess a part of me feels unhappy with the opportunistic aspect to memorial broadcasts. (Though of course I applaud WKCR's amazing efforts.) I contradict myself because I sometimes do it. I never feel opportunistic about honoring a departed artist. In fact, it would be easier not to bother. They all have birthdays every year but they only die once and often, attention should be paid. Usually it's the acknowledgement and one track....just to say it matters. That's how it is for me.
