Slightly related...on Sunday I was in a genuine dungeon. I visited the utterly magnificent Warwick Castle, which dates from the 11th century. You can go down into the dungeon, where some of the - ahem - original fitments remain. Let's just say you want to see them as a modern ticketed visitor, not as a contemporary recipient.... Blleeeeuurrrghhhh.

Despite having that Dungeons and Dragons–related artwork, I have only the vaguest idea what the game is all about, having never played it. Similarly, I have never been in a real dungeon, either as torturer or as victim.

@12:16 @David (in London): Shudder. I've not seen dungeon "hardware" except in a museum. Seeing it in context must have a bit more impact. I had similar experience when visiting a plantation and they had "restraint" hardware in a cell. Human flesh being in contact with the various heavy iron collars and headpieces, even in playful, gosh how does that go on imaginings, I only had images of severe pain and disfigurement.

I visited a castle in Italy once... the tour was in Italian, which I don't speak but my friend translated for me. One of the stories was so insane I'm sure he was fucking with me, but then again it was so insane he couldn't have been making it up. Not exactly a dungeon story, but related.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
David (in London):

The dungeon I visited on Sunday housed the prisoners taken after the battle of Poitiers in 1356. Eventually, they were ransomed back to France for almost $1bn in today's money. I was thinking 'One minute you're a French lord living the high life, the next you're trapped in this stinking hellhole'. Them's the breaks. Zoinks.

  2:17pm
Dean:

That word "posse" has occurred twice today in my experience in radioland. This morning I listened to Poor Man's KOCI broadcast out of Costa Mesa. He premiered a recording of a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Angel," featuring Hendrix's guitar, and he made a point to mention twice that "Hendrix's posse" approved of the recording.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

I wouldn't say that Dean. Though I think there has been some progress on the extreme cruelty reduction front.

Now if we can only figure out how to slow down time....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm

...or even make it go backwards
  2:24pm
Dean:

It's easy to slow down time. Visit a DMV or go to church.
Avatar 2:24pm

Going backwards in time could be dangerous. We could be back in the Middle Ages before we know it and end up in a dungeon.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm

Let's stick to forwards, then
