Re: PH - I have seen the Matt Damon Ripley movie, saw Purple Noon a number of years ago, and Strangers on a Train ... saw Carol - but never read any of the books! Starting with 'Salt' and then likely some Ripley novels.

@jason: i love especially Edith's Diary, which perhaps a bit lesser-known, same for People Who Knock on the Door which is pleasantly unsettling. Love Salt and all the Ripley books too of course though the first is the only one i'd probably re-read at this point. Carol is wonderful but i think the film may have bested it.
