There was one person in my neighborhood who would play the trombone, not-reeeeally well, and I wondered why he/she never got any better as the weeks went by, heh. Just blurts of notes, maybe trying to play a tune, but it never improved. Maybe it was supposed to be a poopy trombone tribute?

	🛎 ♥ 12:45pm Handy Haversack: I had kept meaning to ask the Hivemind whether it continued in general or was localized to this block. This same bldg. was running an unlicensed video shoot for weeks in the fall that took up a ton of parking spots and frequently had trucks idling for hours at a time. It was the first of the new yuppie condo bldgs. on the block. It's a confusing place. A friend's car once broke down in its driveway, and a stayed with him while he waited for the AAA tow truck. And I guy from the bldg. came up and asked us how long we were going to be blocking his driveway. I asked him if he needed to get his car out, and he said, "No, but what if I decide I want to later? You going to make me call a tow truck on you? Because I will tow your ass away." I told him if he thought his would get there faster to go for it but otherwise to back the eff off. I've taken our local piper out canoeing at our public events a few times, Ike! And several times came upon him playing on the creek as we returned from evening paddles, with the sun setting behind Manhattan behind him. Dynamite! He would practice under the Pulaski for the echo.

The two women next to us were awestruck, and I overheard them talking, and they said they were too shy and nervous to speak to her, but one of them wrote a note and gave it to the waitress and asked her to give it to Patti, but wait til after they'd left. So they left, the waitress handed Patti the note, who gave it a cursory glance and then promptly crumpled it up and kept talking to her friend. I loved her more than ever.

	2:48pm Mark R: Mary, who was it who circulated that story recently entitled "Charles Mingus's Eggnog Recipe Will Knock You on Your Ass"? The recipe called for A LOT of alcohol, but the author claimed it was delicious, which of course makes it much more likely to knock you on your ass, since you can easily drink more than you ought to. Remember when John Lennon got thrown out of that Smothers Brothers club date? He said he'd spent the afternoon with his usual L.A. crowd of drinking buddies (Nilsson, Elton, Ringo, Moonie) and he'd never had a Brandy Alexander before (I found that hard to believe, but whatever), and they tasted like milkshakes, so he was slamming them down, and by the time he and Harry got to the Smothers Brothers show, he was totally plastered and just spouting off really loud in the middle of their show, saying stuff like, "Dickie Smothers is an asshole."

There was one person in my neighborhood who would play the trombone, not-reeeeally well, and I wondered why he/she never got any better as the weeks went by, heh. Just blurts of notes, maybe trying to play a tune, but it never improved. Maybe it was supposed to be a poopy trombone tribute?

	🛎 ♥ 12:45pm Handy Haversack: I had kept meaning to ask the Hivemind whether it continued in general or was localized to this block. This same bldg. was running an unlicensed video shoot for weeks in the fall that took up a ton of parking spots and frequently had trucks idling for hours at a time. It was the first of the new yuppie condo bldgs. on the block. It's a confusing place. A friend's car once broke down in its driveway, and a stayed with him while he waited for the AAA tow truck. And I guy from the bldg. came up and asked us how long we were going to be blocking his driveway. I asked him if he needed to get his car out, and he said, "No, but what if I decide I want to later? You going to make me call a tow truck on you? Because I will tow your ass away." I told him if he thought his would get there faster to go for it but otherwise to back the eff off. I've taken our local piper out canoeing at our public events a few times, Ike! And several times came upon him playing on the creek as we returned from evening paddles, with the sun setting behind Manhattan behind him. Dynamite! He would practice under the Pulaski for the echo.

So they left, the waitress handed Patti the note, who gave it a cursory glance and then promptly crumpled it up and kept talking to her friend. I loved her more than ever.

The recipe called for A LOT of alcohol, but the author claimed it was delicious, which of course makes it much more likely to knock you on your ass, since you can easily drink more than you ought to. Remember when John Lennon got thrown out of that Smothers Brothers club date? He said he'd spent the afternoon with his usual L.A. crowd of drinking buddies (Nilsson, Elton, Ringo, Moonie) and he'd never had a Brandy Alexander before (I found that hard to believe, but whatever), and they tasted like milkshakes, so he was slamming them down, and by the time he and Harry got to the Smothers Brothers show, he was totally plastered and just spouting off really loud in the middle of their show, saying stuff like, "Dickie Smothers is an asshole."
