Today's playlist art is by NYC artist William Scharf. It's from around 1970, and is part of a series called Red Angel.

Off to the dentist before your show starts today, Tony. Do you know the collage work of Hannah Höch? She worked in other media, too, such as crayon, here:

Hey, Dean! Don't let 'em take all your teeth.

I do know Hannah Höch -- love her stuff.
  11:01am
Dean:

My thought is that even if they do take all my teeth I can deposit them nightly, one by one, under the pillow, where the fairy pays good cash for them. And then I can live off beer.

Höch came up in an art-history book I proofread for college-level courses, so I'm glad her work will reach yet another generation of possible artists.

Seems to me that Camel is *almost* a Canterbury band (style-wise, I mean). But in the end, they're not.

Good for you, Sem.
Here, we are told not to go into others houses over Christmas and the New Year. But the virus is having a day off on the 25th, so it's allowed then.

Oh, Stanley, there will always be an England w/ policy-making like that. Hope you both are well there.

Funny you should say that, Sem because that decree came from London. The Scottish Government are agin it. There'll nae be Christmas in Scotland, do ye hear?

Hi Tony and tape hissers. Work break and wondering who I am hearing. This Courtyard Music Group recording is a remarkable message from that time.
Avatar 1:36pm
Tony Coulter:

Hiya, WR!
Avatar 1:38pm
Tony Coulter:

Can't tell you much about Courtyard Music Group, other than that they were an obscure British "acid folk" band. Their one LP is ridiculously rare, but fortunately the band itself reissued it on CD.
Avatar 1:41pm
Tony Coulter:

A copy of the original LP is now on sale on discogs for $3,048.78, in case you want to pick it up. www.discogs.com...

Back from dentist.

Höch was the subject of a touring museum exhibit around twenty years ago. It was an eye-opener for me at LACMA.
Avatar 1:43pm

I'm collage crazy, so I have to like her. Plus, she does have a really personal and unique take on collage.
  1:46pm
Dean:

Have you seen Ashbery's collages? They're quite fun, maybe more so because they suit his poetry.
Avatar 1:47pm

I haven't, no. Should investigate.

By the way, this is not the (relatively) well known Evensong. It's a homonym band.

So happy to have seen Camel during this tour and then again later with Richard Sinclair, both times at the Roxy in Hollywood.
Avatar 1:54pm
Tony Coulter:

Never saw Camel -- but I did see Richard Sinclair with his band Caravan of Dreams.

Thanks for the Ashberry link -- will peruse post-show.
Avatar 1:55pm

The Caravan of Dream show I caught was in the '90s, so, much later.....
  1:56pm
Dean:

Would have loved to have seen the reformed Hatfield & the North in 1990.

The Ashbery link is just a description of the book. This is better for examples of his work: https://www.artnews.com/art-in-america/features/whispers-time-john-ashberys-collages-60134/

I spent 2 months talking to unemployment representatives (I had three claims in the last year, hence the technical difficulty). I would call at 8am, get a representative at noon, then maybe a supervisor at 3pm, but I never got the manager, as they shut down at 6:30. I finally got a manager who gave an eff last week before closing time.
