Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm david w:

Maroney has the ability to play multiple tempos/meters at once. Mystifying gift.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm doctorjazz:

His hands are completely independent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm david w:

Sir Schell! Kinda true ain't it?

Compare say 'Up From the Skies' by Hendrix with electric gittar...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm david w:

@WR: how strong do you make your coffee?
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

@david: Here's their homepage: www.centerforexperimentalethnography.org
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm david w:

@RevRab: did Hendrix every play with a trumpet player? I think there was a Miles/Hendrix conspiracy brewing, but never happened.
Swag For Life Member 6:15pm spodiodi:

i'd like to hear that!
Avatar 6:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

No recording of Jimi with Trumpet I'm aware of - though it must have happened including Jams with Miles - probly quite private ? Their collaboration halted by money negotiations according to some (getting the story straight can be a challenge with most things Hendrix) - & by death as we all know...
Avatar 6:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Of course McLaughlin (jams of him & Jimi are extant) tells of meeting Miles & ripping some Bop for him - & 1st thing Miles does is walk over turn his amp up & say play like Hendrix !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm david w:

Delicious.
Swag For Life Member 6:23pm spodiodi:

RevRabbit, thanks for the good (and entertaining) info, and the new-to-me (and very useful word, "extant". i really should read more :D )!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm doctorjazz:

This was great! Gotta run now, thanks, David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm david w:

Take care, doc.
Avatar 6:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...if nothing else today spodi !
Avatar 6:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Jimi did try things with the Brecker Brothers for horns now I think of it - arranged parts really while Jimi kinda Bops (as it happens) in a clean tone...He wanted to write for bigger ensembles...lots of things...Jimi & Gil Evans was something to look forward to...
  6:35pm ruth:

that was a good one! Love Zs
Avatar 6:37pm northguineahills:

I would love to zee Zs live (just have one of their rekkids, goes well w/ the band A [not to be confused w/ Band A])
Avatar 6:38pm northguineahills:

Is ruth's bird, tutu a cocateau wearing a tutu she got as a two-for-two?
Avatar 6:41pm Schell:

Is that Kenny Garrett on flute?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm david w:

Yes it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm david w:

@ngh: Ruth's Tutu is a trlckster of a creature, but she can elaborate on the provenance.
Avatar 6:47pm northguineahills:

record sale is going well, got a good price on a Wolf Eyes lathe (1/15) and Marclay's "Record w/o a Cover".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm david w:

I've taken good care of my copy of the Marclay which, if you know the legend, is the wrong approach.
  6:50pm ruth:

Tutu is an African Grey!
Avatar 6:50pm Schell:

Late 80s Miles may not be vintage Miles, but it's still better than Doo-Bop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm david w:

The video document of this is pretty fun, Miles has a cool jacket.
Avatar 6:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's kinda choreographed - Miles On Ice ...but definitively of course. He came back & was active while he could...
Avatar 6:53pm northguineahills:

@david: I had mine in a sleeve, but I met and talked to Christian, and he gave me the impression that I shouldn't, so, I took it out of the sleeve.

danks, david auf ruth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm david w:

Thanks, everybody! You know I had to end with this after the opening tease.
Avatar 6:55pm northguineahills:

Never heard Miles so late.... (and I have everything from him from the early 80s beforehand...)
Avatar 6:55pm northguineahills:

That's Dame Vera Lynn!, thankyou very much!
Swag For Life Member 6:55pm spodiodi:

thanks, David!
