My high school friends and I would see them there often, they being the house band and where they recorded their first album. I also saw them at the Wayne State Free Concerts held at Tartar Field, which one can now be seen on YouTube, plus other smaller venues in and around Detroit. When they played with the Stooges,... well, the roof came down!

I think I noticed a poster for a performance of Blue Cheer, MC5, and the Stooges at the Grande Ballroom. You didn't by any chance catch that gig (and if you did do you still have your hearing)?
	4:05pm WM: Yes, the MC5 lived up to and beyond my expectations. They performed Ramblin' Rose (of course), Tonight, some "new" songs (this was just before the release of High Time) including Gotta Keep Moving and they closed with Black to Com. Wayne Kramer still sounded great in 2018. He still plays guitar as good or better than ever.

	4:23pm Betsy O: @ WM,... you were indeed fortunate to see both incarnations of the 5. No, I did not see Blue Cheer the night they payed with the MC5, but did when they opened for Cream!!! Indeed the ears did ring overnight often when seeing those early concerts. Also saw the 5 open for the Yardbirds, Mother’s of Invention and Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis. We were just kids, 16 years old and had no idea that what and who we were seeing would end up Rock Royalty of sorts. It was just a matter of luck to living close to such a venue and having that youthful curiosity in that time period.

Side note, the poster of the 5 and Blue Cheer was designed by the late Gary Grimshaw, who created those psychedelic handbills and posters for the Grande Ballroom, and a regular attendee of the venue, and believe me, my female friends and I had our eyes and hearts on him, though he was a little older and already had a lot of ladies around him. WM, I saw Sun Ra at the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz festival in 72’, with Howlin’ Wolf and others. Those years were filled with the new artists and revivals for many an older Blues and Jazz performers. Thanks again for your creative ideas to write and share those experiences. Growing up in Detroit meant seeing Motown acts performing around town, often free, or seeing Mitch Ryder, Aretha Franklin and the Temptations before the MC5, Amboy Dukes, Stooges and Alice Cooper took over the scene. Fun times, as today has been here! Happy Holidays to you all, and keep rocking and can’t wait to see live music again next year!

My high school friends and I would see them there often, they being the house band and where they recorded their first album. I also saw them at the Wayne State Free Concerts held at Tartar Field, which one can now be seen on YouTube, plus other smaller venues in and around Detroit. When they played with the Stooges,... well, the roof came down!

They performed Ramblin' Rose (of course), Tonight, some "new" songs (this was just before the release of High Time) including Gotta Keep Moving and they closed with Black to Com. Wayne Kramer still sounded great in 2018. He still plays guitar as good or better than ever.

Indeed the ears did ring overnight often when seeing those early concerts. Also saw the 5 open for the Yardbirds, Mother’s of Invention and Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis. We were just kids, 16 years old and had no idea that what and who we were seeing would end up Rock Royalty of sorts. It was just a matter of luck to living close to such a venue and having that youthful curiosity in that time period.

WM, I saw Sun Ra at the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz festival in 72’, with Howlin’ Wolf and others. Those years were filled with the new artists and revivals for many an older Blues and Jazz performers. Thanks again for your creative ideas to write and share those experiences. Growing up in Detroit meant seeing Motown acts performing around town, often free, or seeing Mitch Ryder, Aretha Franklin and the Temptations before the MC5, Amboy Dukes, Stooges and Alice Cooper took over the scene. Fun times, as today has been here! Happy Holidays to you all, and keep rocking and can’t wait to see live music again next year!
