Hi Sam and handy horses!
Avatar 10:01pm TDK60:

Sam, I made it over the time line into your cruel show. Exhausted. Can you lead me to water?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm doctorjazz:

Talk about horse races...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Sam, stablemates, unstablemates...
that one in the middle looks like a daily driver, to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm coelacanth∅:

water over there
< TDK, right next to the palm trees and naked nymphs and that mcdonald's there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Sam Segal:

Coel, Doc, TDK, and Chresti! Welcome! Let's see if we can cultivate enough spiritual momentum to carry us through the next 24-36 hours!

Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

i'll be alright. let's see if we can generate enough power of sanity to sway the crooked arm of justice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Sam Segal:

RW! Thanks for stopping by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm chresti:

Is that Mt. Hood in the photo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm coelacanth∅:

anybody here into Phillip K Dick offer me a recommended starting point?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Sam Segal:

I don't think so, Chresti. All I know is that this photo was taken somewhere in Colorado around 1972.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Sam Segal:

@Coel, I am not a PKD expert by any means, but I really enjoyed his book "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said." It felt pretty accessible, but still weird and druggy like you would hope for from him.
Avatar 10:14pm TDK60:

I was thinkin' Mt. Hood would probably have more evergreen trees around it.

Thanks, Sam. Get these listeners some spiritual fortitude for their future. I'm out. // Out! Demons Out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm coelacanth∅:

Sam i have a friendly acquaintance recommended the author and a starting point book but i don't remember what he said.
it wasn't that; but i'll consider it.

-getting ready to place a book order

'night TDK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Sam Segal:

Be well, TDK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Sam Segal:

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" could be a good one too, Coel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm coelacanth∅:

that's it! Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Sam Segal:

I believe Blade Runner is based on that book. I haven't actually read it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm coelacanth∅:

...actually i'm not sure! maybe that one was mentioned because of the blade runner connection so it stands out in my mind.
hmmm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm chresti:

Sleep well, TDK60.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm coelacanth∅:

i never saw blade runner either, but the idea that an actionadventure movie was based on this book makes me apprehensive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm doctorjazz:

Great first day, AAC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm doctorjazz:

(... First set...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Sam Segal:

Glad you dug it, Doc! One of my absolute favorite Art Ensemble recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Sam Segal:

For what its worth, Coel, I think Blade Runner is a pretty loose adaptation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm coelacanth∅:

thanks Sam i just read plot descriptions and it still looks good. probably more serious than what i prefer but maybe there's humor in it too?
anyway i'm ordering Vonnegut and Tom Robbins short stories collections so i can always take breaks from a serious book if i need to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Sam Segal:

I could use some Tom Robbins in my life. Loved "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" when I read it many years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

Sam that was the first Tom Robbins book i read as well and i loved it. then i read jitterbug perfume and i was really glad i'd read cowgirls first. jitterbug is pure Genius! and as good as cowgirls is, it might've disappointed me if i'd read it after.
-then i read 4 others and immensely enjoyed all but one; and even that one i loved... villa incognito is his last novel (? - hopefully not) and the story is his usual Brilliant, but at a certain point when it seemed like it should've gone into yet more weird twists- it just wrapped up. so not like him. also there are many loose ends; things never clarified. also not like him. (it's also much shorter than his others) even so it was very powerful and aspects of it stick with me to this day.
i have 2 more of his novels to read... i'm ordering a short stories book that i doubt the library will have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

jeez
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm Sam Segal:

Ah I'll have to check out Jitterbug Perfume. Thanks for the rec, Coel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm coelacanth∅:

(really at least his first 5 books are amazing)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm chresti:

Thanks Sam, great selection of horses!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm Sam Segal:

Thanks for riding along, Chresti!
  11:59pm rw:

Thank you Sam!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am coelacanth∅:
