Hi Grave!
Avatar 1:39pm chresti:

Halloween is a big deal around here, back to back with Day of the Dead.
Avatar 1:42pm ironybread:

Halloween just isn't feeling very Gay-Christmas-y this year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Rich in Washington:

You just compelled me to buy Decasia. I hope you're happy.

Avatar 1:43pm chresti:

Hi coel, ghost goat!
Avatar 1:44pm ironybread:

That's what we're about here on Sheena's Jungle Room, it's movin' units, baby
Avatar 1:45pm coelacanth∅:

'morning chresti!
Avatar 1:46pm ironybread:

Hi coelacanthø, great god of not-quite-extinction and special characters
Avatar 1:46pm Franco Twinkie:

That's funny, Irony. I was just thinking about how Christmas and Halloween are such profound markers. And here we are again!
Avatar 1:48pm Martinibomb:

heeeelooo Irony!
Avatar 1:49pm ironybread:

It's ironic
Avatar 1:49pm coelacanth∅:

haha ironybread...
4 weeks in, i didn't know
-digging this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Grave in Vermont:

wow- this piece
Avatar 1:52pm ironybread:

Yes please help yourself to my distinctive back catalogue of episodes if you haven't enjoyed them already
Avatar 1:57pm Mr Fab:

Sounds like rush hour on the 405! Hi ironybread, and fellow Boxers.
Avatar 1:57pm ironybread:

Hi Fab!
Avatar 1:58pm chresti:

Xmas kind of lost it's luster for me, (except parties),many years ago.
Avatar 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

my mother begrudgingly participated but was adamant about halloween not being a holiday. so for me growing up halloween was like a minor marker, after the big 3, the ones we got time off from school for.
as an adult halloween gradually became the only holiday i sorta care about.
Avatar 1:59pm ironybread:

We're on the train to GrindYourTeethTon, USA, which has been the only available destination for some time now.
Avatar 2:00pm ironybread:

coelacanthø - same here. Seems like Halloween is a celebration whereas Thanksgiving and Christmas are designed as temporary caves in which we are all expected to crouch and hide while we wait it out
Avatar 2:04pm coelacanth∅:

for me too chresti -until i hated everything about it -except the party at the bar. i rarely show up for the other parties.
Avatar 2:05pm coelacanth∅:

ironybread i like that description
Avatar 2:05pm Franco Twinkie:

Maybe. But at this point in my life I see big holidays as time to look back and reflect. Lame, I know. But the sun is setting in so many ways
Avatar 2:07pm chresti:

New Years eve and Halloween are where my spirits get activated.
Avatar 2:08pm coelacanth∅:

my sister did try to make thanksgiving a holiday of actual Thanksgiving. it never worked very well though, as she married a piece of shit and raised 2 spoiled, unappreciative brats.
Avatar 2:09pm ironybread:

that's never fun
Avatar 2:10pm coelacanth∅:

Franco i won't call that lame at all.
i can't let myself reflect on the past much though.
Avatar 2:11pm chresti:

coel, me neither.
Avatar 2:12pm coelacanth∅:

ironybread on the bright side she's now separated from and divorcing her husband and her boy turned out sort of okay; her girl i haven't *completely* given up hope on.
Avatar 2:13pm chresti:

How old is her girl?
Avatar 2:14pm Franco Twinkie:

When my mom could no longer handle the turkey about four years ago, I took over. Now she is in a facility, and it looks like this year is a wash. But having said that, I am truly thankful this year.
Avatar 2:14pm chresti:

I love this Decasia!
Avatar 2:19pm ironybread:

In context with the film, this soundtrack is a hell of a thing
Avatar 2:24pm coelacanth∅:

chresti she's 21 in a few weeks. in college, that's part of the problem! self-righteous, narrow-minded, aggressive, selfish. there's a good chance, i think, that in a few years she'll be pretty cool.
Avatar 2:27pm coelacanth∅:

weird to say that, when just 1 or 2 generations ago being a college student usually made people more open-minded, not less.
Avatar 2:31pm chresti:

Has she traveled or lived away from home? That usually expands the young ones' minds a bit. What is she studying?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Hello Ironybread and fellow fiends!
Avatar 2:33pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, we have one young person in our family right now who drives his mom(my cousin)nuts. That's her problem. But for the rest of us he is charming, hilarious and good looking. I love been around him.
Avatar 2:33pm coelacanth∅:

she's in la now.
Avatar 2:34pm chresti:

Hi Frankenfodder!
Avatar 2:34pm ironybread:

Hi F F!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Happy Halloween my friends!
Avatar 2:34pm Franco Twinkie:

Otis! The plums I got on Thursday are beyond belief. You want some?
Avatar 2:35pm coelacanth∅:

hey Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Frankenstein Fodder:

I would love that, let me fix this teleportation device and Sondy and I will get on our masks and bring over stuff for supper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Howdy Coel!
Avatar 2:35pm coelacanth∅:

that piece was Amazing!
Avatar 2:36pm chresti:

Send her over, coel. She might be humbled by the abject poverty we live in.
Avatar 2:36pm Franco Twinkie:

Seriously, I was thinking I could mail you some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Ha! I will live vicariously through your plum pastimes.
Avatar 2:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, but if you change your mind, they'll be around a few more weeks.
Avatar 2:40pm chresti:

Maybe we could send them via Greyhound bus, Franco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Frankenstein Fodder:

One day when the newer new happens, we hope to visit LA to see friendly faces.
Avatar 2:45pm chresti:

Yes to the newer new nice world!
Avatar 2:47pm chresti:

We got to meet Granny last New Year, January is the last time we saw SF.
Avatar 2:48pm ironybread:

The particular Augustus Saint-Gaudens bronze that inspired Ives here is the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial, dedicated to the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the country’s second African-American regiment, who marched out of the city on 5/28/1863 to fight in the South. It’s been defaced multiple times in the last four years
Avatar 2:49pm ironybread:

Fodder-y one, you must definitely try to arrange such an L.A. trip and we SoCal Jungle-ites must all meet for beers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Maybe in 2021, probably 2022 though, Tiki Oasis with Sheena's could happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Really want to make that trip Irony... was planning on it for Tiki Oasis this year but we are where we are. Patiently awaiting the next step.
Avatar 2:53pm ironybread:

Charles Ives, the original mash-up king.
Avatar 2:53pm Mr Fab:

Just imaging a socially-distanced Tiki Oasis, drinking thru our masks. Er, no...unless we make special tiki masks with straw holes. Maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Frankenstein Fodder:

Happy Ghouls Day Fab!
Avatar 2:55pm Mr Fab:

Thanks, and it's gonna get happier - Herk Hiligard claims that he shall rise from his crypt to play Halloween rekkids all night after Wired Up! is over. So he claimed yesterday in da chat. Hoping so!
