Handy, saw your closing thanks to Ken. Hope you're ok. Stuff is tough. Wishing you well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm YETI BOB:

Aha, this is why I never see you guys on the Duane Train!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Handy Haversack:

Lisa -- thank you. I'm OK. Days are ... days sometimes. Just having an off one today. But the thought of being able to share it with all of you is an absolute panacea. I appreciate it so much.

  12:10pm Really Lisa:

Understood, Handy. And agree. Panacea indeed. Many shows, dj's, and good people's kind words (such as yourself) have kept me going. (clumsy post.. need editor, know anyone?)

Avatar 12:14pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Hubig, Ken, Sylvia, and S&M&S!

I know we reached the station's goal, so I will feel a little silly asking for more pledges, but let's keep the momentum going! YAY for hitting the goal before the end of the month!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy. Fix my crappy day, Mary. Please.
Avatar 12:16pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Handy @Lisa I feel you. Some days are just about executive dysfunction, and mere sadness. We just have to let it be, and it'll pass, eventually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Michael 98145:

Hello all.

@HH, gotta say those Kate punkins are brilliant!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Station Manager Ken just proved that singing DJ's theme songs can be an effective pledge-raising tool. Maybe that would help?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Stanley:

Hi Mary it's only 4.15pm here. We put our clocks back on Sunday and my usual daily timings with EST are out of synch. It feels very uncomfortable.
Avatar 12:17pm wizard frog:

I loved me some panflutes (if these are indeed panflutes / panpipes)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Handy Haversack:

Comme on dit, Sylvia. En fait.

Hey, Phillippe!
Avatar 12:17pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Phillippe and Michael 98145! I will do my very bestest to de-crapify the day for everyone!
Avatar 12:18pm wizard frog:

@Stanley in the UK the clocks go back a week earlier than in the US I think, so man, yea, weird, huh, life, what a trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Andrew_in_WI:

@Mary Can you de-crapify 2020 too?
Avatar 12:19pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Mary has wings, not a magic wand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm David (in London):

I tried the bedpanpipes once. Messy business. Not doing that again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Stanley:

@wizard frog-man, true dat!
Avatar 12:20pm Mary Wing:

Heh, I want a T-shirt that says "executive dysfunction starts here"--Sylvia, can you get on that design, pronto? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Handy Haversack:

David, you have to know which end blows and which end sucks.

I had a dream a few nights back where Kate and I were antiquing upstate with Angel Bat Dawid. I have no explanation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey Handy, sounds like you are having a rough day, I hope things pick up, my friend. If it's any consolation, I find your presence to be the better part of my day, without fail
Avatar 12:21pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Mary :D
Avatar 12:22pm Mary Wing:

Hi wizard frog and Andrew! I thought they were pan flutes as well, but the bandcamp page is in Spanish so I can't say for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Handy Haversack:

Systems are coming back online, Phillippe -- thanks, friend.
Avatar 12:22pm Mary Wing:

This is a clarinet, for sure.
  12:22pm Really Lisa:

@Sylvia 12:16, I knew you would relate to that. Merci pour chaque fois que vous avez publié quelque chose de gentil. Hope you're well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm YETI BOB:

some really good things happened in 2020 - on a personal, local level, not national politics. but if i try i can find reasons to appreciate it. had at least one amazing, life changing experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm YETI BOB:

not meaning to belittle what a horrible experience it's been for so many people. i hope that comment doesn't come off as insensitive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Michael 98145:

let's hope for some better news next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm YETI BOB:

sad for all the COVID victims and even more so for their families. but there were a few bright spots for me, amid the darkness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Michael 98145:

did he just sing foie gras?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Stanley:

It's exactly one year since I have seen my parents, who live in France. It makes me sad.
Avatar 12:27pm Mary Wing:

Sounded like foie gras to me.
Avatar 12:27pm wizard frog:

@YETI BOB: Ye - I heard at the beginning of this thing, someone said this thing has allowed for a period of pause and self-reflection unlike any other time in recent history so as a result, of course some benefits do come from that, albeit at the expense of a pandemic where so may lives are lost
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm David (in London):

Hey Phillippe.

No Yeti Bob, you're spot on. Highlights in 2020 have to be intimate, personal ones. But they are no less high for that.
Avatar 12:27pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Really Lisa :) Hanging in there, thank you. I haven't left this house since March, except for errands, some days are tough. Power to the introverts, though. But still, we need human contact.
I'm really grateful for internet, and for people like you all, these chats have been a ray of light.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Handy Haversack:

Bien dit, Sylvia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm YETI BOB:

thanks wizardfrog. i'm just looking for the bright spots in the darkness, otherwise i can't survive. the darkness is pretty damn dark.
Avatar 12:30pm Hubig Pie:

Well I gotta lot of work done on me casa cuz didn't go anywheres
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm YETI BOB:

Thanks D(iL). The concern I feel from people here - people I've never met IRL - is incredibly touching.
Avatar 12:31pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Stanley that's hard, I hope you'll get to see them soon.
My boyfriend (who's S&M&S, in case you didn't know) and I haven't seen each other since March.
Avatar 12:32pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Mary & 100%ers
Avatar 12:33pm Mary Wing:

I'm an introvert, and the lockdown nearly broke my brain, I swear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey DiL!
No worries, Yeti Bob. I find myself pausing and giving thanks for some good things that have happened for me this year. Lots of worry to accompany it, but, as DiL most eloquently said, our own highlights should not be diminished.
Avatar 12:33pm Mary Wing:

Hi there coelacanth! How's your day going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm YETI BOB:

@Mary: I felt a few times that I had reached my breaking point. But I'm not broken. So I think this means I'm far stronger than I realized.
  12:35pm Really Lisa:

@Sylvia, <3 pareil ici. I saw my father through a window the day before he was hospitalized. Only leave to get groceries and go for runs in remote spots super early in the mornings. I am angry and raw and depressed most days, sprinkled with moments of laughing (see Ken's archives.. or so many comments boards). Feel rather mood-swingy most days.
Grateful for people like you as well. More than I should say.. It'd seem pathetic (I don't want pity).
Same, Mary! Introvert who thought I'd be fine when lockdown began. Wrong as wrong can be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm YETI BOB:

(Well, maybe I'm a little bit broken. But I've been that way forever)
12:35pm chresti in Griffith Park shitty Internet:

Hi Handy! Listening, commenting is difficile!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm David (in London):

Hey Coela.

I think everyone has a wobble from time to time. It's been such a dispiriting year that it would be weird if we didn't. But this place is one of fun and friendship, and it's certainly helped me immeasurably being here and getting to know you weirdos. And I say that as an emotionally reserved Brit not used to such things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Handy Haversack:

"Well, maybe I'm a little bit broken." -- all the FMUers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 12:38pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Really Lisa @Mary I’ve been doing Yoga or Pilates daily, it’s helping a lot
Avatar 12:39pm Mary Wing:

I mean, staying at home all the time sounded like the best thing ever to me, but not being able to go out, and especially *working* from home was super-difficult. I am so very grateful that I can go to my office a few times a week, even though it's practically empty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Michael 98145:

we walk a lot
  12:40pm Really Lisa:

Allow me to cry for you, David (iL). It gives me an excuse!
Avatar 12:40pm coelacanth∅:

hi David
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm WR:

Hi folks. Quick look at the comments before meetings and work calls fill the day. Nice groove of music and empathy going on.

Mary, I hope your hellraiser goal shortfall does not dampen your spirits. I already twice went over my budget to show support for great WFMU programs and then this morning realized did not include your program in the apportionment. Mea culpa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm David (in London):

Lisa, I'd rather you gave me a smile...
Avatar 12:43pm βrian:

It was beautiful out there. Not a cloud in the sky.
Avatar 12:44pm Mary Wing:

Hi WR, no worries! We are all in the same soup pot here, I know I am not one of the big guns for fundraising so I'm overjoyed that we made it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm YETI BOB:

@Mary: I hear that. I've been working from home for close to 10 years so that wasn't a huge adjustment for me. But I used to make up for the sitting-alone-at-home-all-day by going out to hear live music 3 or 4 nights a week - and jamming with friends, hanging out in coffee shops, going to the record store, etc. That's what made work-from-home tolerable for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Handy Haversack:

Send it east, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Andrew_in_WI:

This reminds me that I need to fix my Underwood 5.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Phillippe Bastille:

This dreary weather on the east coast has been helping no one as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm YETI BOB:

@PB: We had 2 days of snow in Chicago! Sun is out today, it's all melted.
Avatar 12:45pm Mary Wing:

I don't know what is going on, didn't I play this already?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Stanley:

Thanks Sylvia but can see when that'll be. It's worrying as my father is in poor shape. Of course, I'm not alone with this problem. I echo the sentiments shared on the comments boards about the amazing community we have, here. I was so lucky to get out to Jersey City just before the crap hit. WFMU love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Handy Haversack:

Mary, this show is 100 percent appointment listening. I followed the cool kids (Phillippe!) here and never looked back!

Stanley, I *still* can't believe we didn't actually meet up that last weekend before Time Came to an End.

Avatar 12:48pm Mary Wing:

You were lucky to get here and get back home, Stanley! Didn't they begin to stop flights around that time?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

I must be the introvertest of all introverts. I really haven't felt like that part of my life is any different. Comes from working at home for 25 years for people who, for the most part, live in a different state. A couple years back I went the entire year with only 2 face to face meetings. My two best friends live more than 50 miles away, my sister lives in NC (I'm in MD), so I can handle the solitude.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Michael 98145:

i just realized i'm getting hungry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm KimSorise:

The now antiquated sounds of The Boston Typewriter Orchestra. . . all love.

Hello, Mary of the dings and things, and the 100% whatever ensemble.
  12:49pm Really Lisa:

Cheers, David :)
Sylvia, I do need to get a yoga mat. Excuse for shopping in my near future, merci!
Stanley, wishing things improve for your father. Sorry to see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm David (in London):

Greetings to you, oh Sem on the Bay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Stanley:

You're right, Mary. Took the next availble flight as soon as it was announed the UK was off limits.
And it's Sem my 2020 marathon buddy. Hi Sem
Avatar 12:51pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Sem! Jam and jelly on the table!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm David (in London):

Phillippe, I wonder how you'll react then when I turned up on your doorstep at 2am sometime this decade and drag you out drinking!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm KimSorise:

Honestly, I have loved so much having extended time at home - saying this knowing life has been very hard for so many in Louisville. It's a bit crazier now being back working at school. We had our first Covid case this week - 1 person put close to 80 people in quarantine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The lockdown has allowed me to run WFMU 24/7, so there's that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Stanley:

Haha Ken - yeah, there's that.
Avatar 12:54pm Mary Wing:

Ugh, that sucks, Kim! It only takes one sick person to send everyone home and worried.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm KimSorise:

Your skeleton @Ken is dancing perfectly to Sonido Gallo Negro
Avatar 12:54pm coelacanth∅:

hey Sem

Phillippe i'm with you on that. i can handle the solitude quite well. enjoy it.
- but now i'm completely out of money.
Avatar 12:54pm βrian:

My wife loved the lockdown at first, maybe because it was quiet and I cooked for her twice a day, instead of once. But dealing with a 6-yr old has taken a toll.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Huzzah for skeleton powers!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm KimSorise:

I have no kids - my 294 go home with others at the end of the day. I feel for those newly inundated parent/teachers.
Avatar 12:57pm Mary Wing:

I haven't found the berry-producing clouds yet, Sem, so plain old grape will have to suffice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Stanley:

Hey Sem. Im currently looking out over the hills as darkness settles. I'm managing a 50/50 split with Edinburgh at the moment. It's helping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Ike:

Wow @Mary@12:39, I wish I could do that. They're now telling us they're not letting us back into the office building until at least *July*. Sheesh. I miss it, despite the long commute. Only WFMU and my cats make WFH tolerable, otherwise I'd go stark raving bonkers.
Avatar 1:00pm Sem:

FYI, Ms. Wing:
"The Elusive Cloudberry and Cloudberry Jam There it is. An aggregate fruit, raspberry-like (a fruit that develops from the merger of several ovaries that were separate in one single flower), They occur naturally throughout Northern regions, mainly in mountainous areas. Cloudberries grow wild across most of northern Canada, but are somewhat synonymous with Newfoundland." via wikithingy.

That's great, Stanley. Bucolic is a great spirit booster, in my experience.

Hi Asheville Jon! You'd think a man in his 70s would finally learn how to play a damn guitar after *decades* of trying, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm David (in London):

My friend Jon and I introduced ourselves to Jandek in the town square when we played at the Incubus festival, at which he was also playing. He looked right through us, then stuck out a hand and said 'I'm Sterling' in the deadest of deadpan voices. Jon ended up naming his son Sterling after him.
Avatar 1:14pm Mary Wing:

Get out! Heh, at least the kid didn't end up with Jandek as a name.
Avatar 1:15pm Sem:

Meaning to ask, David (IL): did you make that fox mask in your avatar?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Asheville Jon:

I "discovered" Jandek while dj'ing at a college/community station in the late 1980's. Saw these records with really weird pics on the covers, played them, and, well, it's Jandek, what else needs to be said?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm mariano:

Hey, I remember this show. Greetings, Mary, Crew, wingers.
Avatar 1:17pm Mary Wing:

Hello Mariano! I've been a-waitin' on you! (Okay, not really, but howdy anyway!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm David (in London):

Sem, no indeed not. It would have been spectacularly more crap if I had made it myself. It took me ages to find. From a specialist place in Norwich, here in the UK.

Mariano. It's yourself.
Avatar 1:21pm Hubig Pie:

Our rescue cat came with the name Sterling. We changed it to Suds cuz he sleeps in da zink
Avatar 1:23pm Mary Wing:

Does Suds have gray/silver fur?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm mariano:

Aw, thanks Mary! Many thanks to Handy for reminding me that FMU has several amazing parallel dimensions. Hey again David - now I know where some of y'all vanish to after Ken's show.
  1:24pm Dean:

Shoot, I just bought the *last* Lazy Salon and now he has another one?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

When I was age 3 or 4, we lived in a house with no bathtub, just a shower, so I got my baths in the kitchen sink.
Avatar 1:24pm Hubig Pie:

Ja Mary. He sports that classic male tabby look
Avatar 1:25pm Mary Wing:

Hi Dean! This Lazy Salon album is all old stuff, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm David (in London):

Mariano, I know, sometimes it's like being at an old skool house party (remember those?). You stumble into a room and find a load of people you know hanging out there.
  1:27pm Dean:

Oh, I see. Still, gonna have to get in touch with him.
  1:27pm Listener Robert:

Ken, then what's my excuse? We had a bathtub and a shower, but I was bathed in the kitchen sink at age 3.
Avatar 1:28pm βrian:

It's not entrapment if I just *tell* folks that Mary's show is about to start, right?
Avatar 1:29pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

oh, hello this song!! thank you Mary <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Thank you! <3
Avatar 1:29pm Mary Wing:

Heh, Brian. The first hit is free...
Avatar 1:30pm Hubig Pie:

That Tenggar tune tickled my hippocampus
Avatar 1:30pm Mary Wing:

I try to hear Sylvia's comments in this voice, hee hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Handy Haversack:

Bipolar Explorer! Yay!
  1:31pm Listener Robert:

Actually the excuse (other than Mother's not having to bend over) may have been to get a cute picture of me next to my baby sister in towels on the sink counter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@LR - I was going to mention the bending over part. Those were the days, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm David (in London):

Hurray! Bipolar Explorer!
Avatar 1:33pm Mary Wing:

I'd agree on the bending over factor, plus using less water in the sink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Ha! Yes, Mary. Sylvia actually knows the station ID by heart and we recorded it once between takes. Just sayin'... <3
Avatar 1:37pm Bas NL:

Hi Mary & peoples of 100%! Speaking of.. :)

Hello Bas! Thanks for your pledge last week!

The paisley curtains here help conceal wallflowers, as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Stanley:

I'm back, desk tidied away, beer in hand.
Love this Madalitso Band. Definately keeping the sweet sounds of Lilongwe going strong.
Avatar 1:51pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@βrian @1:28 I like it when people mentions that a show they like is about to start, we don't always remember or know the show even, so it's nice
Avatar 1:51pm βrian:

Damn, Stanley. I feel guilty in not joining you in a beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Some monster GIFs from SMK's show this morning - www.mike-gabriel.com... Now to figure out a way to 3D print them for Halloween masks.
  1:53pm Really Lisa:

Also, βrian @1:28, saves clicks when you provide the link. Carpal tunnel is real.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Stanley:

@βrian - I wish you could. Not even six yet and it's pitch black here. Feels a lot later.
mariano - good to see you around these parts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Stanley:

Ken - you found them. Excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm David (in London):

Stanley, the clock movement is rather disconcerting for a while after it happens, isn't it? I keep looking at the clock and wondering if it's bedtime yet, only to see that it's only 8.34pm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Phillippe Bastille:

Been head down in PowerPoints -- sorry I'm not keeping up. David, I will only be shocked if you knocked on my door wearing the fox mask. I would wonder why the neighborhood fox was on two legs and wearing the tape rat WFMU tee shirt.

Hello spodiodi! Let's do the Time Warp again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm mariano:

Ooh, definitely some pre-storm tension in the air... the hurricane's first tendrils have started winding 'round the city. Time to go lash myself to the lightning rod on the roof and imprecate against the gods. Worked last time.
Swag For Life Member 2:00pm spodiodi:

:D indeed, Mary. let's
Avatar 2:00pm Sem:

Yo, spod'di.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm David (in London):

forbidden fruit trees, Mary
Avatar 2:05pm βrian:

Mariano, do you ever cross paths with Ignatius J. Reilly?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@spodi - In college, I was riding a motorcycle across town for some friends and the front brake locked up at a stop sign. Dummies never warned me not to use the front brake. I wasn't moving fast, luckily, and only got some scrapes when I tipped over.
Swag For Life Member 2:06pm spodiodi:

yeah, C∅ i need to fix it! still kept a good clip on the highway. i had to make it back here to catch some art, and i ran outta gas :-B but i made it!
Avatar 2:06pm coelacanth∅:

myrrh? frankincense? aren't those in the bible, for some reason?
Avatar 2:07pm Hubig Pie:

Ignatius in da house,.
Avatar 2:07pm Mary Wing:

Are they plants, or spices?
Avatar 2:08pm Mary Wing:

Granted, spices made from plants, but no longer actual plants.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

@βrian mariano IS Iganatius P. Reilly. And hey mariano, I may be selling my old jon boat. Interested? And hey coel
Swag For Life Member 2:09pm spodiodi:

Ken -- i know how that goes... i faceplanted on a friend's little bike on Van Ness twice! in the same night -- her BF did crappy repairs and put an undersized fender on the front wheel with 50% of the bolts required -- it acted like a front brake INSTA LOCK. bam! onto the pavement. twice. in traffic, at night. twice. (then i realized what happened ,and rode on the back of my GFs bike home... hurtin. but i made it! i have a few more bike stories :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm David (in London):

Ah, Homestead Records, sigh.
Swag For Life Member 2:10pm spodiodi:

ok now really brb. i need to move garbage cans for movers arrival
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yep, with motorcycle mishaps, it's not a matter of if, but when.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Handy Haversack:

Mariano, decrying those sulphurous and thought-executing fires, vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts is always a good call. But mind your white head!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm David (in London):

Bums never really translated into British English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm mariano:

Hey coela! How's tricks? Mary: Acacia is really important in the Bible as a symbol of immortality, since it flourishes in the desert. Cedar of Lebanon too. Interestingly, the Bible never says what kind of tree the forbidden fruit came from. It's traditionally an apple, it's said, because the Latin word for apple (malum) could also mean "evil" (only diff is that one of them has a long A).
Avatar 2:13pm Mary Wing:

I thought bums were hobos in Britain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coel I think the frankincense in the bible is a typo. I think it's related to something about Saint Francis being pissed off about some ecclesiastical slight. I think it's supposed to be "Frank's incensed".
Avatar 2:13pm coelacanth∅:

i met a guy last week who's probably about 70. he said he had his very first bike mishap recently, a very minor one, and took it as a sign to stop riding.
Avatar 2:14pm Bas NL:

Quick bike ride home for me.. see if i can beat the daylight savings; if not, thanks for today Mary!
Avatar 2:14pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar 2:17pm Hubig Pie:

Keep an eye out for those dumpster bums. they nothin' but trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Handy Haversack:

Band name, track name, album name all absolutely pitch perfect on this one.
Avatar 2:20pm Mary Wing:

What I wouldn't give for some viking hair...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm David (in London):

They'd traditionally have been tramps in the UK Mary. A bum is that thing you're sitting on...
Avatar 2:22pm Hubig Pie:

Viking hair was big in the 80"s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Stanley:

You can also bum something like a cigarette off someone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Handy Haversack:

The 980s, too, Hubig.
Avatar 2:23pm coelacanth∅:

Sem, my father liked to tell of when his mother (a beautiful, respectful and respectable and generally cultured person. an antique dealer who was never to be seen looking or acting sloppy) discovered a new beverage at some point in her 70s. she said it was most lovely, now what was it called. oh yes, "night train express".
Avatar 2:24pm Hubig Pie:

That's what I meant, Mr Haversack
Avatar 2:25pm βrian:

That would only be because she hadn't tried MD 20/20.
Avatar 2:25pm Sem:

heh heh heh, coel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Handy Haversack:

Well, this is awful, but I have to take off a bit early for a dr. appt. Thaks for a(nother!) fantastic show, Mary! I look forward to the liner notes.

Be well, friends. Super glad to have had this chance to hang out with you all.
Avatar 2:26pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

oh, I like this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm mariano:

You know whose hair I've always envied, Mary? People from the Andes. Beautiful, black, straight, lustrous long hair that's impervious to humidity. Unlike my Central-American Brillo pad - going bald was a merciful reprieve for me, lol.

Bye Handy! Kudos for the 980s quip too ;)
Avatar 2:27pm Mary Wing:

Toodles, Handy, see you next week!

bye Handy!
Avatar 2:31pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

I like this one, I can't resist a good beat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Stanley:

Sem - my vote goes to Buckfast Tonic Wine as well as 17 percent alc by volume, each bottle contains 281mg of caffeine - the same amount as eight cans of Coke. It's still a popular pastime to get 'bucked up' in certain circles up here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Stanley:

See ya Handy. Take care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

Gotta check out again myself. Tata Mary and fellow introverts (how many INFJs does it take to make up a comments board?)
Avatar 2:34pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

(which is kinda funny since our own songs are drum-less)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Michael 98145:

introverts normally favor justice
Avatar 2:34pm coelacanth∅:

mariano i was with someone (for not enough time) with that hair. i loved it -soft, thick, heavy, straight, black.
it wouldn't look good sprouting from my head though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Stanley:

Deep thoughcus, Phillippe. Stay well
Avatar 2:35pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

haha Philippe, a few and some INFP
Avatar 2:35pm Sem:

Oh, my, Stanley. Awful stuff: I was given the lowdown by Chocolate Monk, on the boards during Fabio's show a few years back. Grisly effects on the populus, as I recall.
Avatar 2:36pm coelacanth∅:

I need to get that Magik Markers album
Avatar 2:37pm Mary Wing:

Bye Phillippe, thanks again for your pledge!
Avatar 2:37pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

speaking of other shows, Jeff Conklin has a new show on another station, 1st show was this Sunday, it was quite good, you can listen here www.mixcloud.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Stanley:

Ha, Sem. Mr Monk, I think, is noted for his selfless devotion to experimentation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm David (in London):

Stanley / Sem - Forgive me if this has already been mentioned:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Stanley:

David - we're a 3 litre bottle of White Ace ahead of you there.
Avatar 2:39pm Hubig Pie:

Buckfast doesn't make the wino list cuz it's too spendy, sos I read somewheres
Avatar 2:40pm coelacanth∅:

yeah that magik markers track is great
- though i've always preferred the original magik markers (with Leah Quimby) but we'll see what this new album does to that preference
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for the Jeff Conklin info, Sylvia. I hope he returns to WFMU someday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Stanley:

Yes, thanks Sylvia. Ditto Ken's remark

Avatar 2:43pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Avatar 2:44pm βrian:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm mariano:

David: Very interesting, Bum Wine. There's a place on Bourbon St called Huge Ass Beers, and I've always wondered if supposed to be Huge *Ass* Beers. In which case they could maybe partner with BW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Stanley:

David - in my misspent youth, one summer, we would pass the time between afternoon closing and evening opening hanging out in the overgrown gardens of Enid Blyton's house in Beaconsfield, drinking 'Gun Dog British Sherry'. Yup, it was as bad as it sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Stanley:

mariano - you make me laugh

Mariano - You can show it to me in person one day.
Avatar 2:53pm Mary Wing:

Got to give props to man who includes the sound of a vibrator in his song, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Stanley:
