Several years apart, too. He has an amazing memory. The first time I saw them was at the Empty Bottle, one of the best shows of my life, J.H-P. jumped on top of an old spinet piano and belted one out a-capella with no mic. Everybody was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Also at one point Zappi wandered off stage and joined the crowd, standing right next to my wife - he explained "I just wanted to hear how it sounded from down here". And they brought a cement mixer to the Empty Bottle. Man, that was a night!!

I experienced Faust on an old East-German fishing trawler; the Stubnitz. The hold was basically the entire belly of the ship, that had all the cooling pipes around. The hold was turned into a stage. And Zappi played the ship. Hitting every pipe, fitting and fixture while dashing around.

I think I may have figured out the Telefunken picture. Those helmets are for pilots, there's a contact microphone in front of the larynx. The fans are blowing air at them. They are testing how well the microphones do in wind (simulating open-cockpit conditions).

Handy... ramen?
...(in order of entry into the soon-to-be-boiling water) thinly sliced carrot, ginger, turmeric if i have some; simmer a few minutes then add celery or bok choy; a slice of onion, chopped -then add the ramen (turn heat off now if it's electric) add a bulbous tablespoon of tahini; "raw" cashew pieces (or whole), a bit of wakame, cayenne powder, a splash of braggs aminos, some good soy sauce (like san-j) fresh parsley.
sometimes a little cilantro, sage, tarragon...
