Welcome to your Aspic Holiday!
Avatar 11:02am Sonderangebot:

Hi Otis, what are you going to serve us today? It looks so mysterious!
Avatar 11:02am Otis:

My mind, Fodder Brains.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Franco Twinkie:

Aspic!?! I though you were going to make a sponge cake covered with old crank case oil.
Avatar 11:07am Otis:

Waiting until we meet up one day Franco, I'll bring the motor oil.
  11:08am Martinibomb:

Otis, Franco, sonderangebot!
Avatar 11:08am Otis:

MartiniPuggyBomb!
Avatar 11:11am Sonderangebot:

Hi MB! Hi Franco! Wow, this guy... I get sinking feeling in my stomach. Ouch!
Avatar 11:12am Otis:

First heard the Con Man on Incorrect Music. Was sent into Irwin and Michelle by a listener, must've been 1999 or 2000.
Avatar 11:13am Sonderangebot:

I think this guy was in love with a buffet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Franco Twinkie:

I would like Margie is to make me a breakfast burrito filled with blood leather strips and cottage cheese, followed by a cup of hot oleander tea. Is that to much to ask?
  11:17am Martinibomb:

Food!
Avatar 11:18am solo mon:

Ever since i became a breatharian, all i want to do is talk about food.
Avatar 11:19am solo mon:

Hmm Meal oriented radio, very on brand here at shenas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Franco Twinkie:

What say we ram it down their motherfucking throat?
Avatar 11:20am solo mon:

The croppings are very intriguing. Nice touch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Franco Twinkie:

Cavalcade of nonsense!
Avatar 11:20am solo mon:

Trademark that Franco.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Franco Twinkie:

Tuesdays was ground beef on mashed potatoes in the cafeteria at Florence Flanner Elementary School.
Avatar 11:23am solo mon:

Look at those little cuties on the cover.
Avatar 11:24am Otis:

Adorable photo!
Avatar 11:25am Ursula1000:

hiya Otis!
Avatar 11:26am solo mon:

Oh, zooming in I see theres "custard sauce" on top of the cold raspberry bile soap soup. Could a berry based dish be more disgusting?
Avatar 11:26am Otis:

Hello U1K... Yay!
Avatar 11:27am solo mon:

I should have said "berry based beverage"
Avatar 11:28am Sonderangebot:

You just need to be persuaded to drink that dessert, solo. Wait until you see the next card.
Avatar 11:28am Otis:

Solo, the berry bev is the only digestible item on the menu today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Franco Twinkie:

This album cover was so subversive when it came out. Everyone else was trying to look like degenerates from hell, and these guys look like catalog models. With a Range Rover in the backround no less. Brilliant!
  11:31am Martinibomb:

I wish Dorthy Ashby and Throbbing Gristle had collaborated on an album
Avatar 11:31am solo mon:

Sondy ~All of the close ups croppings feel vaguely threatening.
Avatar 11:31am Ursula1000:

Towa Tei sampled the opening harp thingy on his track Chrysalis. Dorothy is so awesome!
Avatar 11:32am solo mon:

Dorothy would have LOVED the lyrics to that song.
Avatar 11:33am Otis:

One day I hope they do a proper reissue of The Rubaiyat, until that day, my digital files will suffice unless the gods shine down upon me and I find one in a second hand store for cheap-o.
Avatar 11:35am solo mon:

Ain't nothin wrong w digital, its allabout the music imo. Spread the sounds how ever you can can.
Avatar 11:36am Otis:

You got that right! Just purged over 100 12" singles and recorded most to digital (making new versions mixing extended with dub with bonus beats, etc).
Avatar 11:38am Sonderangebot:

Adult Theme called Enfant? This is wrong! :)
Avatar 11:38am solo mon:

I really love that there is new music that sounds like this.
Avatar 11:38am Otis:

Awkward song title alert!!
Avatar 11:40am Otis:

Totally for the current sounds, like this. El Michels Affair is just all around amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Franco Twinkie:

Seriously, what the hell an I going to eat this morning? I'm afraid I'm going to have to go out into a word that smells like a dead campfire and see if I can find something with cheese melted on top and hopefully a little crispy around the edges.

Hi Carmichael!
Avatar 11:42am solo mon:

Franco that makes me sooooooo hungry. Im gonna bike by franz bakery and sniff the vents. Tuesday they make cinnamon english muffins!
Avatar 11:42am Otis:

I was a little over there, thanks Sond. Monitoring my mic volumes all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Carmichael:

Heya Sond.
Avatar 11:44am solo mon:

HI Carmichael :-)
Avatar 11:44am Mr Fab:

Hey Otis and Friendly friends! I tuned in earlier and heard some Bran Flakes, and thought that was a cool way to kick off the show. But now don’t see it on the playlist. So that was just Sheena introducing you, Otis?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Carmichael:

When you said "Adult Themes", I thought I would hear wah wah guitar and moans of joy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Carmichael:

Heya Solo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Franco Twinkie:

What could they be suggesting here?
Avatar 11:46am Ursula1000:

how are you westcoaters doing? still insane sky situation?
Avatar 11:46am Otis:

Plums, midnight snack. Oh, of course!
Avatar 11:46am Otis:

Indeed, been watching the news. Wish I could send you all blue skies.
Avatar 11:46am solo mon:

midnight snack? muffins is all that comes to mind.
Avatar 11:47am solo mon:

but probably because its breakfast time and im hungry

Avatar 11:50am solo mon:

Yeah smoke is everywhere still, over in PDX. And maybe through the weekend I hear. Its really awful makes everyone feel like shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Franco Twinkie:

Pizza is a good snack at 2AM after a vigorous rut.
Avatar 11:51am Sonderangebot:

LOL franco 'a vigorous rut'
  11:51am Martinibomb:

I'm super tired of this low-grade nausea - just feel like I'm slightly choking all the time or u can't quite get a breath.
  11:52am Martinibomb:

At least we have Sheena and Friendly Persuasion audio to keep it a little less gray
Avatar 11:53am Sonderangebot:

Yeah I bet inhaling smoke all the day must be very tiring :(
Avatar 11:53am Otis:

I can't even imagine the smoke and heat. Music to take your mind off the madness. There's an album title.
Avatar 11:53am Mr Fab:

Hey U1k, LA air still kinda gross, Mrs Fab had a coughing fit that would not quit last night. But still better air than OR I’m sure
Avatar 11:56am Cp304:

Good mornoon Otis, errybody.. tossed salad theme today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Franco Twinkie:

Forget the pizza, this is making me want a chile relleno!
Avatar 11:56am Ursula1000:

Ugh. NY's nice n chilly today. Seeing some of those pics of the red sun reminded me of when I was in China 2 years ago. I knew about the pollution problem but holy crap---to see the sun like that mid day--its pretty freaky.
Avatar 11:57am Otis:

Hi Cp304, just in time for the appetizer... get your stomach ready.
  11:57am Martinibomb:

@OTis it's not hot in PDX the smoke blocked out the sun and dropped the temp to 60's maybe 70s
Avatar 11:57am Cp304:

Mmmmm mmmmm, right before lunch.. can’t wait
Avatar 11:59am solo mon:

See food Moose?!
Avatar 12:00pm solo mon:

WHY is it smiling like that???
  12:00pm Martinibomb:

@ursula I've been thru a couple of forrest fires growing up in rural oregon and this is by far the worst thing I've ever lived thru but it's waaaay worse a little south of portland. At least we didn't have to evac. We don't even know how many are dead yet.
Avatar 12:00pm solo mon:

Yet somehow less gross than raspberry soup.
  12:02pm Martinibomb:

I watched some kids set fire to our property when I was about 12 and it started a huge forest fire - I tried to run up and get it out but it's crazy how fast those things will go. Faster than anyone thinks

solo it's because it's SMILING and it's so CUTE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Carmichael:

@Martini, I know talent and Phoenix were leveled, not to mention Medford. That's incredible and sad. My daughter lives in Portland.
Avatar 12:04pm solo mon:

I spent a few weeks in Shanghai and that was some crazy pollution... This is 100 times worse.
Avatar 12:04pm Cp304:

I bought this cassette from big bear with grass cutting money when it came out. I laid under a folding buffet table listening to it and wrote marker about prince. Mom still uses the table
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Rich in Washington:

I actually saw stars this morning, so thought maybe some of it had blown away. I failed to check my work email before heading out, so the office was closed when I got there. It might be just slightly clearer up here at my house.
Avatar 12:05pm Otis:

Ha, I remember shopping at Big Bear as a kid too.
Avatar 12:06pm Cp304:

Best wishes to those in the West btw.

Avatar 12:18pm Otis:

Sounds like it... that's what dining to food in Sheena's can do!
12:29pm Dave in St Albans UK:

Hi Otis! Just thinking. If I walked into a cafe/eatery playing your show as background music I would stay, order big and ask them to turn it up. Loving listening "live" for once. Always appreciate an FP ....

Avatar 12:38pm Cp304:

Avatar 12:40pm Otis:

Oh yeaaaa, need to play that one on the show here too!
Avatar 12:41pm Otis:

Yes, Dave! So, what 3 artists today all would you mash up together? Past and future apply.
Avatar 12:41pm solo mon:

Oh Altun gun: another great new band!
Avatar 12:42pm Cp304:

Avatar 12:43pm Otis:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Franco Twinkie:

Granny, the sky is the color of a pair of dirty grey sweat pants, but at least it's not a blast furnace, just kind of a warm filthy soup, which all things considered, isn't to bad.

Good luck Solo!

  1:44pm Martinibomb:

Solo's totally getting in :-)
  1:45pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Mx. Grainy Hot Fisch (e/em):

solo mon! huzzah! so exciting!
Avatar 1:46pm Otis:

Really great and 2 volumes. Even Rakim guest raps on the 2nd volume, killer cut.
Avatar 1:47pm solo mon:

Shaheed Muhammed from tribe called quest??
Avatar 1:49pm Otis:

One in the same... Shaheed has collaborated with Adrian on multiple albums. Big admirer of the Linear Labs label out of LA.
Avatar 1:49pm solo mon:

Thanks everyone! I almost don't care if it gets programmed, so am in a gooood place :) Ive had a short film at sundance before like 2004 so long time ago. i gave up film making now IM BAAACK ack ack ack
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Rich in Washington:

I still have never seen Lone Wolf and Cub/Shogun Assassin.
Avatar 1:52pm solo mon:

Im the opposite MB, the festivals are the pain. making it was a dream. I like the process waayyyy more than the release. I wish I had a broker or something Id rather just make another thing but no ya gotta be brilliant and then network and then market. Its exshausting...
Avatar 1:53pm solo mon:

this track is Jam!
Avatar 1:54pm Mr Fab:

Oh, the “baby cart” films! Right, first saw ‘em in, of all places, high school chemistry class. Our teacher was a kung fu enthusiast and used to show movies like before holidays, when he didnt feel like teaching.
  2:06pm Martinibomb:

^I got all the comix
  2:06pm Martinibomb:

@solo process is my fave part of it all as well
Avatar 2:07pm solo mon:

Today is a mousse puree pate kinda day
Avatar 2:09pm Sonderangebot:

Liver pâté served to me as a child... another reason why I'm a vegetarian today.
  2:10pm Martinibomb:

@solo I do like that high you get from showing your film to an audience tho - that is super fun
Avatar 2:10pm solo mon:

its very pretty though, nice try Pate Chef.
  2:12pm Martinibomb:

@sonderangebot gout! why I'm nearly a vegetarian (cheese/milk)
Avatar 2:12pm solo mon:

Yes! showing Art is like exposure therapy for me, tough. But ultimately good. Even the bad screenings. One time I was in the lobby at a screening and a couple walked out of MY film one sid to the other "whoever made this movie should be shot!" I used it as a poster quote!
Avatar 2:13pm Sonderangebot:

That pâté. And flavorless porkchops. And my grandma's grey "chop suey".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Mx. Grainy Hot Fisch (e/em):

solo mon! that is BRILLIANT!!!!!

Avatar 2:14pm Sonderangebot:

MB : gout... awful... I thought only 17th century kings had it... but I know some people who do, too!
Avatar 2:15pm solo mon:

Pate always makes me think of Grey gardens "when the labels fall of its very hard to tell the difference between the cat food and pate."
  2:15pm Martinibomb:

@sonderangebot it's genetics and related to a meteor that hit the earth a million years ago. True story!
Avatar 2:17pm solo mon:

Gran "I went to performance art school! I will re contextualize your insult!"
Avatar 2:18pm Mr Fab:

I would say “whoever shot this film should be made”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Rich in Washington:

A friend in high school noted that cheap canned corn beef hash was virtually indistinguishable from canned dog food, so he switched labels and walked around the hallway eating from what looked like a dog food can. It freaked everybody out and was priceless.
Avatar 2:18pm solo mon:

FAB! LOL
Avatar 2:20pm Mr Fab:

Is the cinematic ouvre of solo and Martinbomb available on some youtube-type contraption out there?
Avatar 2:21pm solo mon:

Rich amazing. I worked for a dominatrix for a little while, filming videos of her ya know doig that kind of stuff. One day she pulled out a can of dogfood and orders her sub to eat it. i was like "ok this is a classic" and all of a sudden shes turns to me and yells "cut!" and swaps the dog food out w chili. Then we resume the "scene". i still dont know what to think about it...
  2:22pm Martinibomb:

^Hollywood Magic
Avatar 2:22pm solo mon:

pretty embossed silver album cover
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Rich in Washington:

Well, I coulda been propmaster on that set. That cheapo corn beef hash looks AND tastes like real dog food. No need to cut and switch.
Avatar 2:24pm Otis:

Hard to take a photo of when they are embossed with a phone camera. Did that a couple of times on Discogs where folks can see my form. Fantastic comps from Daptone, all killer no no no filler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Rich in Washington:

heh, Otis! I was recently searching online how to take good pics of shiny, metallic, or highly reflective covers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Rich in Washington:

That reminds me of the famous naked tea kettle on Ebay image.
Avatar 2:28pm Otis:

I'm the last person to ask, maybe Sond? I am a klutz with photos, for discogs I just lay the cover flat, daytime works good it seems and position the phone above and click. Crop after, but looks a lot better than most Discogs covers, but far from perfect.
Avatar 2:28pm solo mon:

Whe ive had to shoot a flat reflective thing I use a big peice of white foam core and cut a hole right in the center just big enough for the camera lens.
Avatar 2:28pm Otis:

Oh, nice!
Avatar 2:29pm solo mon:

You could prob just do it w a piece of cardboard or even a curtain w a hole.
Avatar 2:29pm Otis:

Gotta say for fellow DJs... the new KenzoDB Queue is killin' it. Time to chat and breathe and load up full playlist bits (most pre-show, but about 25% today during show sourcing Discogs).
  2:29pm Martinibomb:

FreeMusic/Touch Screen Tip-o the day u totally didn't ask for. MPCBeats is free/8ch version. I am playing around with it on my touch screen monitor and it works so much better at touch input than Ableton does. So this I can do 10 points of touch/turn knobs easy etc.. I wish Ableton worked like this
Avatar 2:31pm solo mon:

@Fab I mostly have commercial work online. haven't done much personal work in the past decade but Im aiming to change that!!!
Avatar 2:31pm Otis:

I still use my Novation Launchpad I picked up in 2009. 64 pads... use it every show for talkover, ids, themes. So simple.
Avatar 2:33pm Otis:

Sold my Push though in 2018, but it was version 1. Might get v2 or wait for a 3rd in time if/when I make music again.
  2:34pm Martinibomb:

using the mouse too much hurts my hand so.. I'm always trying to avoid it - touchscreen and a trackball are what I mostly use.
Avatar 2:34pm solo mon:

But heres a link to music vid i did a little while ago thats never got released. Style is bob guccione meets mario bava. www.youtube.com...
Avatar 2:35pm Mr Fab:

Man, Sheena’s has so many artsy types here, we could have our own kinda Tiki Oasis event - film screenings and art exhibits by day, bands/DJs at night.
Avatar 2:36pm solo mon:

Sheenas is a creative hot spot and getting hotter every day IMO :-)
  2:36pm Martinibomb:

@solo that video works with this Olympic Runners track :)
Avatar 2:37pm Sonderangebot:

you're so talented, solo!
Avatar 2:37pm solo mon:

MB totally LOL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Rich in Washington:

I have a big photo booth at work. I should try that peek-a-boo foam core idea, solo! Thanks!
I've thought about bringing my more problematic LPs in and doing a record cover shoot on my lunch break.
Avatar 2:38pm solo mon:

Awwww SONDY thanks, sometimes, yes! Other times its a mess, but its all FUN! xo
Avatar 2:40pm solo mon:

The other think that works well bringing record cover shine down is using a polarizing filer on the lens, it cuts down the dfference between the highlights so u can see more. Usually used for outdoors but good for minimizing reflections too.
Avatar 2:40pm Mr Fab:

Yep, getting hotter. like Otis said: new New NEW show debuting today, following Kitten Sparkles: the exotic sounds of DJ Shangri-La.
Avatar 2:40pm Otis:

MB - Me too. Music apps with Mouse, ugh.... give me buttons.
Avatar 2:41pm Sonderangebot:

and if you're realllllly into perfection, buy two flashes and softboxes haha $$$$$
Avatar 2:43pm solo mon:

Yes sondy is right! Its worth it. I am better versed in what they call "continuous lighting" and dont know much abt flashes. I want to take some classes!
  2:43pm Martinibomb:

@otis so I'd say if u have a touchscreen check that app out. I can actually edit audio in it with my fingers!
Avatar 2:44pm Otis:

I don't have a touchscreen, but I have 5 monitors.
Avatar 2:44pm Otis:

No apps on phone/tablet currently. Balancing my device time as I'm in front of this star cruiser a good 12 hours a day.
Avatar 2:45pm solo mon:

yeah screen time is at a maximum right now, it's uncanny.
  2:46pm Martinibomb:

@otis it also works as a plugin inside ableton I think? so.. free mpc drum machine plugin?
Avatar 2:46pm Sonderangebot:

solo personally I prefer to take crappy street photography with film and a compact 35mm cam, but I remember in photo school we had an assignment to take photos of a piece of art like a painting or something. I wonder if these "portable studios" that you find for sale are any good for things like records.
Avatar 2:46pm Otis:

Try to keep the balance here. Like leaving the house to shop and go places without the phone, unless I really need it.
Avatar 2:46pm solo mon:

On that note, Looking forward to the new show today!
Avatar 2:49pm Otis:

Thanks MB... will check it out if/when I get back into making stuff. Now just using live as a simple trigger for sounds for radio, which is so much fun.
Avatar 2:51pm solo mon:

I LOVE studio photography especially table top stuff. So fun to have small area I can really control. Also I love working in table top because it is a notoriously boring genre, and i like to spice it uppppp.
Avatar 2:51pm Mr Fab:

I remember buying the Three Tough Guys soundtrack, listening and “hey, its the song the Geto Boys sampled for Mind Playing Tricks On Me”! Always a bit if a shock in those pre-internet days to hear the source of a sample.
Avatar 2:52pm Otis:

Yes, that's the sample! Here too, back in the 90s... still want to see the movie.
  2:52pm Martinibomb:

omg! @OTIS when I was watching Solo's film above I was thinking Come on Feet would be another great song to play under it. HAHAH
Avatar 2:53pm Otis:

Like minds... like feet... we are doing our thing!
Avatar 2:56pm Sonderangebot:

This sounds like a title of a scene I'd be working on, ahem
Avatar 2:56pm Sonderangebot:

Alright thank you for ze show, Otisse!
Avatar 2:57pm solo mon:

thanks so much for the interesting meal, OTIS!
  2:57pm Martinibomb:

thanks otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Rich in Washington:

There almost should be a comma in that song title.
Avatar 2:58pm Mr Fab:

Deeeee-LISH! My compliments to chef Otis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Wonderful show, Otis! Thanks!
