Avatar 3:09pm Mr Fab:

Hey glitter kids! Attempting to dance in my mile-high platform shoes. (How DID they dance in those things?!)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Jan Turkenburg:

Just tuned in and I think i hear a Dutch recording :-)
Avatar 3:14pm Mr Fab:

Was that Angel the same Angel that had the cool logo that you could read either upside down or rightside up?
Avatar 3:15pm Kitten Sparkles:

Dizzy Mans Band! Their best one, I think.

Englich Angel. Produced by two guys from the Sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm zivilars:

Hi everyone and thanks for the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Zivilars!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm zivilars:

Hey Jan! Hope everything is well in the Netherlands!
Avatar 3:21pm Kitten Sparkles:

Hey, our pleasure! And Jan - the Dutch really knew how to Glam! We play a lot of Dutch stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm zivilars:

@Mr. Fab: Thanks for giving Double Dip Recess a new home on Sheena's!
Avatar 3:33pm Mr Fab:

The Glammed
Avatar 3:35pm Mr Fab:

zivilars, yes I heard Roger made the announcement today. And we’ll have another Saturday show joining us too. Stay tuned!
  3:36pm Cheree July:

That Grand Concourse record was produced by KF?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm zivilars:

@Mr Fab: Saturdays and Sundays still have DJ show room to grow, so this was great news ... If you ever manage to also get Bill Kelly's "Teenage Wasteland" back, I'd probably light a candle in the church for you, but I guess the end of his show on main WFMU was caused by that he couldn't/wouldn't broadcast from home, so Sheena's probably not the right new home for him
Avatar 3:39pm Kitten Sparkles:

Yes. Kim Fowley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm zivilars:

I'm simply still sad that "Teenage Wasteland" seems to be gone for good – was one of my favorite shows and introduced me to WFMU
Avatar 3:44pm Mr Fab:

Oh yeah, “Teenage Wasteland” was such a great show for a weekend afternoon. I would take my kid to the park, and rock to it on my headphones. Didn't realize he was off because he didnt want to deal with the tech issues. But not surprising, it can be a bit of a hassle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm zivilars:

@Mr. Fab: I exchanged a few mails with him and he explained it to me like that (at least if I understood him correctly) - and said that, although he would come back anytime, if he's not back for next season (the one starting on Monday), "Teenage Wasteland" will probably be history. Breaks my heart – although Suzy Hotrod's show is amazing, too, there would be room for both
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Jan Turkenburg:

BZN, from their best album The Bastard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Jan Turkenburg:

Before they went all schlager with singer Annie :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Jan Turkenburg:

BZN= Band Zonder Naam, Band without name
Avatar 3:49pm Mr Fab:

BZN also Dutch?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, the opening tune of YWHNM is a recording of theirs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 3:51pm Mr Fab:

Wow, you could fill in for this show, Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm zivilars:

@Jan: I'm dumb, what does YWHNM stand for?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, We Have No Mountains
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm zivilars:

Damn, the second I sent my message it made "click" in my head :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm zivilars:

of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Jan Turkenburg:

no worries :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Jan Turkenburg:

I must admit I had to check it, but Radar is Dutch too.
Avatar 3:57pm Mr Fab:

Listening to all this makes me realize that glam really brought back the 6/8 time. (Sorry for getting all muso on ya)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Jan Turkenburg:

I see that Frank Reemer was a member of radar, he made a peculiar one sided concept LP, which i own and ... I believe .... yes, I played a track recently...
Avatar 4:00pm Kitten Sparkles:

Yeah, great 7"! And yeeah, Radar! Dutch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Jan Turkenburg:

Well Radar is on my radar now... They might be on coming wednesday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm chresti:

Hi Jan, hi Kitten! Hi wired up peepo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Jan Turkenburg:

fun guitar solo :-)
Avatar 4:09pm Mr Fab:

Jan, was this type of music really popular in UK/Europe (or at least in the Netherlands?) Because I had idea so much of it existed.
Avatar 4:10pm Kitten Sparkles:

This is a great one - Tootsie Roll Baby! And it's a B side!
Avatar 4:10pm Kitten Sparkles:

Hey, Chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, this was really popular for a few years. A lot of bands that we're know for other styles did some glamrock stuff in those days too.
Avatar 4:13pm Jan in the Pan:

Love this over the top Manson family exploitation flick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Jan Turkenburg:

To me in those days it seemed typical British: The Sweet, Mud, Bay City Rollers and only later I realised there was a lot of Dutch stuff made too
Avatar 4:15pm Jan in the Pan:

Excellent Saturday afternoon soundz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Jan Turkenburg:

Interstellar Ballroom Blitz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Jan Turkenburg:

I think I prefer this over The Sweet even.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Jan Turkenburg:

Kitten and Noah, do you also have 'Lemming'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Jan Turkenburg:

the cover art of this SuZanne ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm zivilars:

Thanks Kitten and Noah, enjoying the show so much
Avatar 4:41pm Mr Fab:

I looked up the Suzanne Doucet cover. Wow. Hey ladies!
Avatar 4:41pm Kitten Sparkles:

Damn, THIS ‘70’s is so much more fun than the one I (vaguely) remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Jan Turkenburg:

Such a great show! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 5:01pm Jan in the Pan:
