aloha, Mary Wing!
aloha, 100%rs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Handy Haversack:

100 percent hello, Mary and all the Wingnuts.

Heading out for a walk in a bit, but we'll be back before 3OAK, I hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Stanley:

I've parachuted in from Ken's Circus on the other side.
Avatar 12:02pm βrian:

I recall a neighbor who had to use a vocal vibrator to speak. One too many cigarettes.
Avatar 12:03pm Mary Wing:

Hello spodiodi, Handy, Stanley, and Brian! It's Whatever time!
  12:04pm Really Lisa:

Hi Mary, all. Hoping to hear 100%, no pesky work nonsense.
Avatar 12:04pm Mary Wing:

Did the talking egg make an appearance on Ken's playlist today, Stanley?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Doug Schulkind:

Happy Wednezday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Stanley:

Of course, Mary. There would've been a riot if it hadn't.
Avatar 12:06pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello Mary, hello people

Howdy Lisa, Doug, and Sylvia! Fine Wednesday greetings to all!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Webhamster Henry:

Anyone doing a Silver Apples set today? RIP Simeon Coxe.
Avatar 12:20pm βrian:

We're up to 52 F now. Oh boy.
Avatar 12:23pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Ike and Henry! No SIlver Apples from me, I recorded this show on Sunday. :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Mary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Ike:

There's one show on the main stream/FM that still has a few drop-outs because the DJ is trying to do it live every week, and I wish they'd just pre-record a few days in advance like you do! There wouldn't be any drop-outs due to DJs' evil crappy ISPs then, would there? Or do I misunderstand how the tech works?
Swag For Life Member 12:30pm spodiodi:

i prefer the hot live glitchy action
Avatar 12:30pm Mary Wing:

Hi there S&M&S! You're here pretty early today!
Swag For Life Member 12:30pm spodiodi:

(not complaining at all! just speaking to what ike said :D )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Webhamster Henry:

Ahh well. Nice set here, BTW.
Swag For Life Member 12:33pm spodiodi:

nice mellow set... feels good
  12:33pm rw:

Mary! Everyone! Good morning.
Avatar 12:34pm Mary Wing:

I think that the DJ has to connect to WFMU somehow and then that goes out on the air, so yeah, if the ISP isn't sending a consistent signal, drop-outs occur. But I think the receiving end at WFMU has something else that causes problems. But don't quote me on any of this! I only know that my ISP isn't robust enough to do it live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Stanley:

But you are here with us, now, Mary, joining in the fun.
Avatar 12:36pm Mary Wing:

Good morning rw!
Avatar 12:37pm Mary Wing:

Yes, I get to relive this great show with y'all, Stanley! (she exclaimed modestly)
  12:37pm rw:

Hmmm... I'm not a fan of dropouts, yet I'm partial to live radio. Of course this show feels live, so... I don't know. I guess I don't have an opinion. Just glad to be here. Thanks as always Mary for doing what you do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Ike:

On a totally different note, "Electro-Shock Blues" is the best Eels album, right?
Avatar 12:39pm Mary Wing:

I'd agree to that ranking, yes.
  12:40pm rw:

Just looked outside. It's all orange out there.
Avatar 12:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 12:43pm Mary Wing:

Orange being the sun or being fire, rw?
Avatar 12:48pm Mary Wing:

Hello RevRab! Is the library open? Not all the branches of the NY Public Library have re-opened, but thankfully the one near me has, so I can return all the CDs I've had checked out since March, heh.
Avatar 12:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Nope - doors closed. Copping WiFis outside. I think I had the Covids early March ...& got it from a cougher @ this Library in fact ...is my hypothesis...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Handy Haversack:

Def. above 80 here. I just walked 3 miles. Sweaty!
  12:58pm rw:

Orange being sunlight filtered through smoke from fires. It's a little surreal, like everything else these days.
Avatar 12:59pm northguineahills:

I probably got Covid, from late Feb to May, all of my lymph nodes were swollen, yet, all I had was very minor cold symptoms. But it coincided w/ my psoriasis flare up. so, my immune was under a lot of stress. Usually, even strong colds, my lymph nodes are only swollen for a week, tops, same when I had the mumps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm brainiac:

Hi Mary and 100%ers. Enjoying the music in my California hellscape today.
Avatar 1:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Fascinating on the Covids :
Avatar 1:01pm Mary Wing:

Hey there NGH and brainiac!

How are you feeling now, NGH? Fully recovered or still lingering bleh?
  1:04pm Really Lisa:

Rev Rabbit Nov63, thank you for the link!
  1:04pm rw:

RR1163, the sun was a bright red this morning! Probably not like Santa Barbara when you lived there, but definitely a mild apocalyptic vibe.
Avatar 1:06pm Mary Wing:

Julie has moved to Tuesdays from 3-7 pm, I meant to say. It sounded like Julie moved to 3 on Thursday, oy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Carmichael:

Heya Mary and non-smokers. The sun is red (when it's out), and the AQI is 27 million. I'm trying not to breathe at all.
Avatar 1:10pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Carmichael! After skimming that COVID article, I don't want to breathe at all, either.
Avatar 1:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@rw: In SB then - was also blinking traffic lights - smoke rolling thru downtown - Apocalyptic is the word. California Paradise - Disaster du Jour.

"Wild Hunts typically involve a 'soul-raving' chase led by a mythological figure escorted by a ghostly or supernatural group of hunters"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Michael 98145:

"Seeing the Wild Hunt was thought to presage some catastrophe such as war or plague"
Avatar 1:22pm Mary Wing:

I think the catastrophe came without the wild hunt, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm brainiac:

I wonder if I could mix a bradykinin cocktail using common household ingredients.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Carmichael:

10k% of the RDA of Vitamin D might do the trick, brainiac.

Avatar 1:27pm Mary Wing:

HI Phillippe! How's life on your side of the screen today?
  1:31pm Really Lisa:

I'm counting this Die Wilde Jagd as meditation. It's the closest I've gotten I think.
Avatar 1:32pm northguineahills:

psoriasis is killing me, and messing up my good lucks, otherwise feeling ok.
Avatar 1:32pm northguineahills:

(it's not killing me, it's just a bit painful and annoying)>
Avatar 1:37pm Hubig Pie:

Hoping for a manual bike ride Apres midi if enough snow melts

Avatar 1:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

All my California friends are posting that. Yup.
Avatar 1:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

How are you with tremors Mary? California awaits...
Avatar 1:51pm Mary Wing:

I'd be freaked out about tremors, too. The west coast would destroy my nerves for sure.
Avatar 1:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ah it's no more than like a big truck by your door. Until it isn't...
Avatar 1:53pm βrian:

Yeah, it's that forty foot tsunami that really gets ya.

Avatar 2:06pm Mary Wing:

The full 29?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Stanley:

Wasn't that your record?
Avatar 2:07pm northguineahills:

an actual song I know (very well).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Stanley:

(He said mockingly)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Handy Haversack:

Nice choice, Mary!
Avatar 2:08pm Mary Wing:

Oh! Maybe; I don't know off-hand. There weren't that many covers of this, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Handy Haversack:

I wonder what the most covered Cure song is. "Boys Don't Cry"? "Friday I'm in Love"? "A Forest"?
Avatar 2:14pm northguineahills:

@Handy: I only got into the Cure in as a friend's punk band in HS covered "A Forest".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Andrew_in_WI:

Waiting to hear Luna, then I'm going to lunch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm coelacanth∅:

hello Mary & 100%ers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm brainiac:

whosampled lists a whopping 25 covers of Friday, Handy. That's the mostest of the three.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm coelacanth∅:

(almost just in time...but i can't stay long, i think)
Swag For Life Member 2:19pm spodiodi:

Friday has to be my least favorite Cure song
Swag For Life Member 2:19pm spodiodi:

i call it The Happy Days song
Avatar 2:19pm Mary Wing:

Hiya Andrew, it's coming soon!
Hi coelacanth, brief visits are welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm coelacanth∅:

i agree with spodi on this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Handy Haversack:

Was thinking "Friday" would be sampled and remixed a lot, too. I'd cover "Lullaby"! (And about anything on Kiss Me! ...)
Swag For Life Member 2:20pm spodiodi:

then a big aloha to you, coelacanth∅
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm coelacanth∅:

Mary will you be playing my band's version of fire in cairo today? it was one of just 2-3 songs i sang
Swag For Life Member 2:21pm spodiodi:

Avatar 2:22pm Mary Wing:

You were in Luna, coelacanth? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm coelacanth∅:

yes Mary that was me. good guess!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Handy Haversack:

Nice, spod. Endorsed!

I keep thinking that box karaoke with friends will be the real sign that things are back to normal. And then Kate tells me today that three karaoke places in the city have been busted for letting people have gatherings and I remember that everything is just bad.
Avatar 2:25pm Mary Wing:

Karaoke seems particularly dangerous; all that heavy breath expulsion in a small space would be the perfect incubator for germs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Stanley:

coel you cool, man.
Avatar 2:27pm Hubig Pie:

Nobody does covers like Luna
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm coelacanth∅:
