Hi, Ira and the Ks :)

Hey Iralung
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am coelacanth∅:

greetings Ira Anderson and all
  12:03am flashbazbo:

Hey Ira! I just unwrapped a new shirt for this show! It should never need to be said, but here we are aren’t we?: I do not stand for luxury items.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am mariano:

Bourrée! Hooray! Hiya Ira, Crew, everyone.
Swag For Life Member 12:04am Ira:

Hi, everyone, thanks for tuning in. Is anyone still "tuning"?
  12:05am Rick G:

Maybe Todd can give away Crest of a Knave for next year’s DJ Premium?
Avatar 12:05am Mike W:

whew, i just made it, i had to oil up my tuning device cause it was having trouble tuning!
Swag For Life Member 12:05am spodiodi:

allo allo, Ira and co
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am coelacanth∅:

i partake in frequency modulation often; but not right now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Chop Scott:

I'm tuned in Ira--Cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am coelacanth∅:

Mike, sometimes you have to stab it with a tuning fork
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am coelacanth∅:

hey spodi
  12:08am Nate K:

First no-hitter of 2020 tonight. Of course, it’s against the Pirates.
Swag For Life Member 12:11am Ira:

Pay no attention to that baseball card at the top of the playlist! As the Mets are 3 outs away from being shut out in both games of a doubleheader (well, a 1.54-header), I'm calling in rain delay.
  12:12am Dungaroos Kipawah:

And some guy on the Marlins just stole second, third and home against the Mets.
Avatar 12:12am uuee:

Hi Ira and friends. I've a question for you, Ira. Yo La Tengo tee shirts are being advertised on facebook, do the proceeds of the sales go to the band? The shirt features a dinosaur skeleton.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Chop Scott:

The cymbal flange/panning on this is totally freaking me out right now.
Avatar 12:13am Mike W:

stabbed it
  12:13am BH:

excellent work by the Mets in not making contact with anything since last Thursday
Swag For Life Member 12:14am Ira:

@Uuee: No. (sigh) it's a bootleg.
  12:14am postess:

The Pirates had just racked up 37 hits in 3 games against the Brewers and 7 against Shane Bieber before that. I’m letting myself feel good about Giolito’s no-no
Swag For Life Member 12:14am Ira:

@BH: yeah, it's like that joke about showing up at a game in the 4th inning and the score is still 0-0. We haven't missed anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Chop Scott:

@Dungaroos Kipawah: Cheers Brother!
  12:15am BH:

Anyways, it seems like the methods used by the leagues are as follows

NBA: "Live in this bubble in Florida"
MLB: "If anybody tests positive we wait a few days to see if anything is spreading"
NFL: "All positive tests are false positives"
Avatar 12:16am uuee:

Thought as much. Thanks, won't be ordering one then.
Avatar 12:16am Mike W:

@Ira here in the East Village (still just a few blocks from those old ConEd softball fields) me and the dog are tuned in clearly at 91.9 (better reception than 91.1 these days)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18am mariano:

Make sure to report it too, uuee. On another note, could I interest you in a range of genuine YLT merchandise?
Swag For Life Member 12:18am Ira:

My retirement from the game of softball occurred on that very Con Ed field.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Ken From Hyde Park:

All songs played tonight were up for Grammys in the Heavy Metal category? Cool!
  12:19am postess:

It was 6 Pirates hits against Bieber...at least I didn’t call him Justin
Avatar 12:20am Jedley:

Kids.... if someone with overdose in their name invites you to take a trip.... think thrice
Avatar 12:21am Jedley:

Top o' the evening all
Avatar 12:25am Mike W:

I still have the program and batting-helmet ice-cream bowl from that retirement game.
Swag For Life Member 12:26am Ira:

I appreciate that, Mike, though I remain a little bitter about the whole thing, because the convertible they gave me turned out to be a lemon, and the taxes were insane.
Swag For Life Member 12:30am Somm Ben:

Ira, any time you want to play more material like Sefan please do so!
  12:32am flashbazbo:

Thanks for playing tunes this summer, Ira. You should keep on going. I’ve always been inspired a lot by your musical choices., I hope you never get tennis elbow (Not a class-based ailment btw.) I was supposed to get a lot done this quarantine, but it all went to hell. I feel like a flayed fish. Anyway, if you make it back to Boston, I won’t miss it. Should the future happen, that is.
  12:35am Dungaroos Kipawah:

@Hey Hey Chop Scott! And to one and all. The Davis Sisters were like the female Everlys. Femaleverlys?
  12:35am tom:

@ira ... that wasn't the uk kaleidoscope, was it the american kaleidoscope, or something other. i liked it
Swag For Life Member 12:37am Ira:

Thanks, Flashbazbo. This show has helped distract me from that niggling question of whether there'll be a future. And hopefully helped distract others.
Swag For Life Member 12:38am Somm Ben:

Avatar 12:39am uuee:

@mariano. Sure, I'm interested, what's the link?
  12:40am Robin&Frank:

Thanks Ira, your show is way more consistently good than Mets ball.

Avatar 12:59am glennfromglendale:

I have a copy of Stormwatch by Jethro Tull filed right next to Living on The Fault Line by the Doobie brothers. They both occupy the records I don’t know why I have shelf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am coelacanth∅:

i took a decades-long break from jethro tull, except every easter i listen to the aqualung album in it's entirety. and love every second of it.
... over the past 4-5 years though i've listened to many hours of different -mostly early jethro tull.
  1:01am Rick G:

Thanks for the Mirman bit, well played
Swag For Life Member 1:02am Somm Ben:

  1:02am sufferwords:

the bands of my 8-12 -Tull, Yes and then a little later Genesis... the only thing I still adore is Genesis wasn’t that much after that I put down my Allman Brothers and Little Feat... this all might coincide with my exposure to punk and the nail was when KROQ and Rodney peeled my ears open - I can still dig the Allmans and Feat but so much of the stuff I dug as a tot is in retrospect music made focused on a young audience I’m sure the hip older folk back in the day looked at that shit like pap

mariano a store i worked at we discovered someone was opening packages of all kinds of foods and taking a little bite. i figured out who it was and from then on she became known as "the nibbler", sung to the tune of "the whistler"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am mariano:

When I was in England in 2018 I sat in this lovely park on a sunny day and listened to Aqualung for the first time in years, really enjoyed it.

Haha coela, that's perfect! Anderson could've parlayed that into a snack jingle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...whohhh - sleep ? I got FMU to listen to ...suppose I needed it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Chop Scott:

Thanks for your programming, so happy to be listening. Cheers to you Ira and the skeletons!
  1:08am flashbazbo:

Everybody beats up on prog and folk, singer songwriters, and schmaltz but really that's what makes the world go round.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am coelacanth∅:

aqualung is a perfect album. locomotive breath getting killed on classic rock radio is a sad thing. fortunately i haven't listened to classic rock radio since jethro tull wasn't all considered classic rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am mariano:

flashbazbo: At the height of my wannabe punk days when I was 19 I'd guiltily listen to "Songs from the Wood."

coela: "Wond'ring Aloud" is such a gorgeous song. I really love Anderson's acoustic playing.
  1:12am John L:

Tull was formative in my mid-teens. From there I got into Steeleye Span, then Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Richard and Linda Thompson, Bert Jansch. I don't listen to Tull anymore, but this isolation is making me a bit nostalgic. And Tull were one of my first concerts; 1973 at the Nassau Coliseum. When I do play tull I lean towards Benefit and Stand Up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am mariano:

Oh, I'm sure at least some of you have seen the Stones' "Rock and Roll Circus," the first act is an up-and-coming Tull with a young Tony Iommi on guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am coelacanth∅:

songs from the wood is also great! hunting girl is just amazing.
...their last good album though, in my opinion.
  1:14am BFrank:

Always great to hear Jethro Tull. Saw every tour through Passion Play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am coelacanth∅:

-and yeah wond'ring aloud...really they were all immaculate musicians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am mariano:

"Velvet Green" has such good lyrics too: "Where the scent of wild roses turns the milk to cream..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am Ken From Hyde Park:

I think it was 1986 when I saw Tull in concert. Possibly the Under Wraps tour.

What’s the prevailing zeitgeist around greater nyc now? Still Fuck or fight? Sounds wild. As soon as you get off the bus you have to choose and throw down? Nobody just goes out for falafel or has new sandals made anymore? Does anyone read? I don’t want to see NY cede the intellectual edge to Boston. Irwin would be disconsolate. (He still can’t get over finding out that I used to know Barrence.) I hear that in Newark airport you don’t even get to choose. Well, they give you a pencil and a little slip with two boxes on it and all, but you know how that goes: They’ll be fuckin you.
Swag For Life Member 1:21am Ira:

It's great to have Joe B. on the comments page. I can say some words that barely qualify as a non-sequitur, and he makes sense out of them.
  1:24am BH:
