Hello all! Today's playlist art is Mimmo Rotella's "Scotch Brand," from 1959.

Disappearing into the kitchen for a stretch, so saying an early hello while I turn up the stream so I can hear it amid the chopping and dicing and swearing.

Tony Coulter:

Hey, James! Be careful with that knife.

Hey, there Sem, Yvang, and Eugene! A local eccentric just drove by my window. He rides around on his oversize bike all day, flying an American flag and blasting patriotic country music.

Buddy of mine made a movie about Rose and others, Reach of Resonance. Worth seeking out.

My son has left Portland, Tony. It' safe to go out.

On the nose, ynod.

Dean:

Skimming the wikipedia article about S&Y, this: "Shields was discovered by Marcel Marceau, who offered Shields a full scholarship to his school of mime in Paris." To which Shields replied, "What? I can't hear you!" And this: "Shields was recruited by the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus to serve as their Director of Clowning." I'd love to interview for a position like that.
  1:56pm
Dean:

This OTEME reminds me of a couple of CDs from the '90s of recitals of the works of Toyohiko Satoh (an early music lutenist) by Alba Musica Kyo.
Avatar 2:03pm
Tony Coulter:

Don't know Toyohiko Satoh....
  2:05pm
Dean:

Quite active in the early music movement, at least late last century. As a composer, he fuses early Western music (Renaissance, medieval) with classical Japanese.
  2:10pm
Dean:

Looks like he has a recent-ish release of his own stuff: https://www.discogs.com/Toyohiko-Satoh-Yugen/release/14729650
