Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Avatar 12:10pm BC Sterrett:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Linda Lee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

The Ticklish Diablito!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Linda Lee:

oh my! here's John! my hero! beautiful.
actually, that 'course' at the new school turned out ot be about mushrooms. a friend of mine attended! they had a ball.
Avatar 12:11pm worldsworstrecords:

love that Attillo Mineo album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Linda Lee:

love that one! the Ticklish Diablito!! sold!
Avatar 12:16pm BC Sterrett:

Me too World's Worst! My wife loved when I played it the other day and it made her want to build a haunted house airB&B where we have that record playing as people come to their room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Otis Fodder:

That Mineo album is so good. For anyone interested in picking up Subliminal Sounds released the intstrumental version a few years back and Modern Harmonic released the version with spoken bits recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Linda Lee:

John told my friend about a performance of his work in Paris. the audience was so upset by it they threw trash at the musicians. he was pleased. they were awake!
Avatar 12:16pm worldsworstrecords:

ohh... that would be ace!
Avatar 12:17pm Ursula1000:

hey everyone!
Avatar 12:17pm BC Sterrett:

Hey there UK
Avatar 12:17pm worldsworstrecords:

The 'with spoken bits' version is available on a Hallmark CD or as a download from Trunk for pennies here in the UK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Otis Fodder:

Both are excellent to pick up. The music is actually not even Mineo, most is Roger Roger, library music, licensed.
Avatar 12:21pm BC Sterrett:

I didn't know that Otis! How interesting
Avatar 12:21pm worldsworstrecords:

Really? I did not know that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Linda Lee:

how'm i supposed to wander off to work with my favorite composers showing up on the radio?
Avatar 12:22pm BC Sterrett:

Are you able to listen at work Linda?
Avatar 12:22pm Sonderangebot:

Hellooooo! Tuned in! Need to visually concentrate today but happy to be entertained!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Otis Fodder:

Not much about it online, but I remember hearing about this late 90s, when Jack Diamond released a version (C&SM time)... and somebody wrote on Discogs about it...
www.discogs.com...
Also, check this out, www.mmmrecordings.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Linda Lee:

oh, i'm home at the cabin. supposed to be cleaning out the attic, since i'm selling the place..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Otis Fodder:

It's the Valentino production libarary stuff to look for. I have never researched it btw, just heard about Mineo and licensed content.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Linda Lee:

i'll go up in a minute.
Avatar 12:25pm solo mon:

Mornin yalllllllll
Avatar 12:25pm BC Sterrett:

Found that Partch LP with a load of CRI records at a library freebee giveaway. That was a good day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Otis Fodder:

Hope the move and boxing is going good Linda. And hey Solo and Sond!
Avatar 12:26pm worldsworstrecords:

fascinating. thanks Otis!
Avatar 12:26pm solo mon:

Love Harry partch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Linda Lee:

thanks Otis. it's barely going. :-D
hi solo mon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Otis Fodder:

Oooooh, a buddy just dropped off Jimmy Carroll for me 2 weeks back. Almost started out my show with it this week, like minds. Love this album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Otis Fodder:

This album is filled with percussive nuts.
Avatar 12:28pm solo mon:

Hi LL! Hi Otis! Hi Sonder! Hi WwR! Hi BC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Rich in Washington:

Ah.. I have this track on a peculiar 10" I found several years ago, but it didn't credit the artist! It's on the B-side of a record that has jet plane recordings. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Rich in Washington:

such a weird track.
Avatar 12:29pm solo mon:

Rich! Hello :-)
Avatar 12:29pm Ursula1000:

Ahhh Phase 4!
Avatar 12:30pm solo mon:

Ursula is this what phase 4 is like in New York???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Linda Lee:

what mainlining cocaine sounds like inside one's mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Otis Fodder:

Same here BC. Phase 4 keepers for me besides this Les Paul are the 2 Claude Denjean LPs and Sounds Galactic. Also, a fan of Ted Heath's 'The Big Ones' (so many bongos and gtr riffs and a few breaks).
Avatar 12:31pm Ursula1000:

Def hit or miss but some sweet cover action 4sure! And Edmundo Ros always rocks. Yes Solo, we are picking and grinning here in NY like Les and Mary would've wanted!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Linda Lee:

you may trust me on that.
Avatar 12:32pm Martinibomb:

hey BC!
Avatar 12:32pm BC Sterrett:

Hi MB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

hello, solo mon!
Linda Lee: i attended a John Cage performance in SF (1988ish) and at the edge of the stage was a coffee maker. I got up and poured myself a cup during the performance. Years later i was talking with a friend who had been a percussionist in that performance, and he said John was very pleased by that!
Avatar 12:33pm Martinibomb:

^I really luv this story
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Linda Lee:

oh yes! sure! :-) good for you Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

hey, Martinibomb! U1K! Otis! Freakin at the Freaker's Ball. Welcome aboard The Ticklish Diablito!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, Granny. You literally got your grind on at a Cage show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Linda Lee:

haha! yes indeed!
Avatar 12:35pm Mr Fab:

mornin y'all! Quite an unexpected delight to wake up to Harry Partch. Had the pleasure of seeing John Schneider of KPFK perform with his "Partch" ensemble - seeing Partch's enormous, handsomely-crafted invented instruments live was quite a feast for eyes and ears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ha ha! that was at Fort Mason. So many odd performances there. Karen Finley kicked out a woman who had brought her child.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

as i recall, the coffee was nice and strong
Avatar 12:36pm BC Sterrett:

That is a fabulous story!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Linda Lee:

no doubt! :-)
Avatar 12:37pm Ursula1000:

hiya Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Otis Fodder:

Someone should really scan (or I should) all the Sheena chats over the past (almost 2 years), pull out the best/quote stories and compile them on journal/blog - The Sheena Diaries
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Linda Lee:

fantastic idea Otis! :-)
Avatar 12:38pm BC Sterrett:

I accidentally made some computer sounds that stopped the Cage track I played, but thought, "oh well, He probably would have liked that."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Otis Fodder:

There goes, yet another, sticky on one of my desktop monitors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Linda Lee:

haha! heard that & thought the same way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

yeah, Otis! i have heard and learned about so many marvels here! I was suggesting to solo mon that we work on a Sheena's Jungle Room Oracle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Linda Lee:

what do you mean, Granny? the Sheena Yi Jing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Otis Fodder:

Yes, stories. Well, there are 2 kinds.

1. The stories we all tell.

2. An invitation to a Rick James' Children's Birthday Party.
Avatar 12:41pm Sonderangebot:

lol Solo's kind of winning with that one
Avatar 12:41pm BC Sterrett:

The World of Budget Record labels ladies and gentlemen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Linda Lee:

what a great show!! loving it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Otis Fodder:

Lover of budget record labels, always take a second look in cheapo bins. Even pre-pandemic... washed my hands for 20 seconds after digging in dirt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm chresti:

Hiya BC and archivists! Coming up for air after looking for lost papers, nice show!
Avatar 12:43pm solo mon:

LOL Greg is folk lore in sheenas now.
Avatar 12:43pm BC Sterrett:

Ooh, needle dropped that perfect
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Otis Fodder:

... short bits with crackle and needles, as jayne sang, 'ooooh that makes it'!
Avatar 12:45pm Martinibomb:

@otis I wrote a little python webscraper for grabbing sheena chat posts - working at cleaning the data and doing something with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Linda Lee:

L-O-O-O-S loose, baby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Otis Fodder:

Ahhh, so gotta cut out and pick up a cassette deck for my partner and hit the farmer's market. Solo, will catch you mid-way in your show when I get home. UK1, have a great show, will circle back on the playlist later today.

Have a sweet day all. Until laters.
Avatar 12:46pm Martinibomb:

I was planning to have the scraper run txt thru *text to speech* synth in some interesting way.. too many projects
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Otis Fodder:

MB - So you are doing this project, with stories? That's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Otis Fodder:

Run with it. I'll take it off my list then.
Avatar 12:47pm solo mon:

Fort mason where you can see Bea Arthur’s one woman show and Karen Finley covered in pudding!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Fort Mason had it all!
Avatar 12:47pm Martinibomb:

I'll probably get back to it after I get the wfmu homepage/player sorted - i'm over in html/css land but I think I got a cool way to do it all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Otis Fodder:

MB - Can you Dropbox the output for all of us and share on Slack so others can read? Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Linda Lee:

this sounds like the demo on La Bamba.
Avatar 12:48pm BC Sterrett:

Johnny Tores on the other side :)
Avatar 12:48pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Linda Lee:

Avatar 12:49pm Ursula1000:

thanks Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Otis Fodder:

Nice, please share the link if you don't mind to check out, that would be great. Might want to sort out some bits here, like sampling with words ya know.... everybody uses a sound (or a word in this case) differently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Linda Lee:

i really must go to work now. my god what a fool..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Otis Fodder:

Bye Linda. See ya all!
Avatar 12:54pm Mr Fab:

I wrote a post in my old blog called “All Killer All Filler” about some of the gems hidden on the budget labels included as filler after suckering in consumers with the (usually only a couple of songs by) Big Names.
Avatar 12:54pm solo mon:

See ya soon Otis! You’re gonna miss mine an georgys cookie mueller piece, it’s in hour one, but there’s always The chives xoxoxo
