	♥ 11:15am Listener Gregory: @TDK60, I think it's often attributed to better recording, so that the not-as-piercing instruments could be heard. In the old days, you needed a clarinet to play high to be heard through the trombone and trumpet.

(I alsodon't think there EVER were as many "star" trombonist as there are sax, trumpet, piano, etc. It's a notoriously difficult instrument to play). My $0.02
