Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Rob W:

Good evening everyone, thanks for staying with us!
Avatar 6:18pm TDK60:

Hi Chresti over there across the way.
Avatar 6:19pm spodiodi:

TDK is so REAL (aloha, TDK60 -- I've always wanted to type that to you -- do you get that much? too much? if so, sorry/respect)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm chresti:

Hows the air over on your side, TDK?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Megaroni:

Eskiler guzel!
Avatar 6:22pm spodiodi:

how is it down in SGV, chresti?
Avatar 6:23pm spodiodi:

any dust? i'm afraid to look at the news the past few days, for the most part (forgive me for asking something google could have answered, if i were more brave/less exhausted)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm chresti:

Warm and bright, 80s, blue sky, doesn't look too hazy from the hazy kitchen window. Supposed to cool down tomorrow with a pacific northwest flow.
Avatar 6:26pm TDK60:

Chresti, we just had a heavy rain downpour in NYC. We need more rain though. I think we're too far north for the dust storm. I've heard there's also an idiot wind but across the whole country. // Spodiodi- I get tape jokes all the time. No problem; my cassette deck is in working order, all else is trivial.
  6:29pm JW:

Great show so far. Nice one for sitting out on the back deck relaxing with a drink. Cheers.
Avatar 6:29pm spodiodi:

chresti, that sounds tolerable. and may the flow... flow
TDK, cool, thanks :) i got it out of my system
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm chresti:

To be honest, I am loath to go outside unless I have to, whenever the temps are above 80F.@spodi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hadn't entertained notion we could get dust or haze up North here - but I suppose atmosphere is just that nutty...
Playlist wonderful Rob.
Avatar 6:31pm spodiodi:

i'm with you, chresti. 68-70 is what i like best. it's too chilly in sf. we've had the heat on today (as we did yesterday, etc)
Avatar 6:31pm spodiodi:

too cold is one thing, but too hot... i think i'll melt, really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm chresti:

Turning green with envy, spodi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm chresti:

Actually, I think that's what's on it's way down here, they say it'll be in the 70s, yay.

hope it's swift

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Handy Haversack:

I have met TDK60 in person!
Avatar 6:45pm spodiodi:

cool, Handy! did he have a walkman? (sorry)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Reminds me of what I call the 'San Francisco vibrato' that the Bay Area Psych players had.
  6:47pm Peter from Dover NJ:

Damn, Rob, this is really psychedelic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm chresti:

There you go, Handy has proof.
  6:48pm Peter from Dover NJ:

@ Revolution Rabbit. Exactly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Kewl thing about feedback & a whammy bar - you don't need another piece of equipment for them...
Avatar 6:49pm TDK60:

Hey Handy. / Revrab: know what ya mean about that SF vibrato.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm chresti:

So far, we've met Granny, and DJ ARB in person.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm chresti:

Too bad Franco's not here to join the SF vibrato discussion, he's out hunting tacos.
  6:59pm Peter from Dover NJ:

SF vibrato technique was definitely a thing. FWIW, one of my friends differentiates between psychedelic ro k and acid rock thusly: psychedelic has 1 electric and 1 acoustic guitar; acid rock is 2 electric guitars. Thoughts?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Psychedelic is anything you listen to on acid.
:)
From Syd Barrett redefining Songwriting w/ one somewhat rhythmical guitar - to The Beatles overdubbing a 40 piece orchestra a few times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

But - the transitions from FolkRawk (bYRdS) to Psych
- & then from Psych to Metal are favorite things of mine to ponder...Clapton saying the Bay Area groups sounded like Peter, Paul & Mary w/ Electrics...
  7:07pm Carmichael:

Heya Rob and trannies. Good music for cleaning pool filters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Acid Rawk implies the Psych to Metal transition
- where the transition from FolkRawk lead into the Studio more perhaps. (Playing Live actually became impossible for The Beatles. & they got worse @ it...)
  7:07pm JW:

Liking this one too.
Avatar 7:19pm spodiodi:

hi Carmichael
  7:22pm Peter from Dover NJ:

I've been cooking, so I missed some of this. If I think Yardbirds > Led Zep, then yeah, I could see acid to metal progression. But sure that Black Sabbath, who I adore, would fit that.
Avatar 7:23pm TDK60:

This Angel R. is fun, cosmic.
  7:27pm Meesalikeu:

angel rada trivia: David Copperfield used Rada´s music in his world tour Shows since 1995.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm chresti:

Tacos eaten, very good. Listening while eating, also very good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm chresti:

Carmichael, how's the weather, still in the 100s?
Avatar 7:32pm Franco Twinkie:

San Francisco embraced Cream which in turn smoothed the way for them to conquer the rest of America. Clapton was right about the Peter, Paul and Mary with electric guitars comparison, but I think of that as a good thing instead of a put down
Avatar 7:34pm TDK60:

Hola Franco. ¡Me gustan PP&M! Es verdad.
Avatar 7:35pm spodiodi:

hi Franco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Handy Haversack:

OK, now I'm really in! Was listening but also on a vid. conf. / poker game. I ended up up 23 GBP, so that's something. Was playing with four people in Scotland. Transatlantic poker paradise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Bas NL:

@Handy Nice one!
Avatar 7:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi ho,Spodiodi and TDK,I have to stay awake. I'll keep talking and drinking coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Clapton of course being a Blues purist & a bit uptight about some things. I've been all in for Cream since toddlerhood tho' - & of course PP&M sang like hell.
& of course RobW digressing thru a playlist was gonna be a rich & diverse delight.
Avatar 7:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Me too Mr. Rabbit! The first place I ever saw Fresh Cream was at a little record store across the street from The Long Shoremans Hall in 1967. It was right next to an advanced copy of Are You Experienced, which was still a month away from domestic release. I remember thinking: This must be the new thing - groups with three guys.
Avatar 7:51pm TDK60:

Fantastic mixed bag show tonight Rob.
  7:54pm Peter from Dover NJ:

Rob, tonight's show is especially brilliant. Thank you and keep bringing it.
Avatar 7:56pm TDK60:

Franco, Fresh Cream really was new, loud. But Experienced was like a flying saucer landing. eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Damn straight.
I was a toddler w/ a Big Brother - so I was spoonfed it all from earliest years.
  7:58pm Meesalikeu:

ghana in tha hawse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm chresti:

Agree, fantastic mixed bag show, Rob.
Avatar 8:02pm Franco Twinkie:

Well, the engineering on Fresh Cream was not a good fit in my opinion, but still I loved that record!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02pm Handy Haversack:

Wow, really been loving this mixed-bag show, Rob!

Ah, has have others. Gonna start chopping dinner, but we are very happy with all right now!

And thanks, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm Rob W:

Yes indeed Meesalikeu!
Avatar 8:03pm spodiodi:

Baila Baila
Avatar 8:04pm spodiodi:

you can pay someone to chop your dinner with your winnings, Handy
Avatar 8:04pm Franco Twinkie:

And yes, a bright pink and green flying saucer landing on my face.
Avatar 8:05pm spodiodi:

poker confounds me (i'm playing card dyslexic, for the most part)
  8:05pm Carmichael:

Sorry, had to run to the pool store for a part. It’s 91 today, mucho better.
Avatar 8:05pm spodiodi:

i can't stop thinking about tacos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm chresti:

I'll have to brush up on poker...
Avatar 8:07pm Franco Twinkie:

Spodiodi, get thy backside down to The Mission and indulge. It's Saturday night after all.
Avatar 8:11pm spodiodi:

and go out my front door? hmmm. idk, franco. i feel safer in my air prison (thanks, Fox(?))

man i miss living (near) and working in the mission (esp. the taquerias) -- do you or chresti have a favorite in sf? i'd have to go with el farolito on 24th and mission -- followed by cancun, between 18th and 19th
Avatar 8:12pm spodiodi:

we have had homemade burritos twice in 3 weeks, so i'm happy about that (we're out of chips :~( )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm chresti:

Guisados delivers, just saying..
Avatar 8:14pm spodiodi:

it'd be a long walk, but we need exercise. maybe tomorrow we'll head over that way
Avatar 8:16pm Franco Twinkie:

Oh man, El Farolito was my go to for years! Chresti and I had friends on 25th and Capp. My main place now is El Buen Sabor on 18th and Valencia.
Avatar 8:16pm spodiodi:

i don't think i've ever had taqueria delivery... cool on Guisados (looks like theyre la-only :\ )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm chresti:

I can call my son, he'll bring some over, spodi
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm mariano:

El Farolito in San Fran? Place is amazing. There was one on Church as well, across from the Safeway (or was that El Faro?). Anyway, now I want a quesadilla al pastor with an horchata to wash it down.
Avatar 8:20pm spodiodi:

El Buen Sabor is new to me -- noted
ever eat at la rondalla?

hah - very nice of you to offer, chresti :) does he head out into the void much? i always get freaked out
Avatar 8:20pm spodiodi:

hola, mariano!
Avatar 8:21pm Franco Twinkie:

Spodiodi, I also love La Coroneta on Mission between 22nd. and 23rd. A real nice mixed grill burrito.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Horchata !
  8:25pm Meesalikeu:

triva: eric clapton lives in columbus with his young columbus wife and pops up on stage around there occasionally.
Avatar 8:25pm Franco Twinkie:

I can understand your apprehension, Spo'. Chresti is already making noised about going up later in summer. I'm not so sure.
Avatar 8:25pm spodiodi:

i can't picture it, Franco -- it's been a while since i've walked down mission st... but will keep it in mind, for sure. i think Pancho VIlla was my first-ever SF burrito, back in '94 (well, proper burrito -- there wasn't anything like them back east, in my little world)... but el farrolito was religious. i probably have had more from cancun since, out of convenience (closer walk at lunch, if i wasn't hitting the very "clean" place (El TEpa) that was even closer)
Avatar 8:27pm spodiodi:

man, i used to have a burrito for lunch (and often dinner) for many years, and it's been as many since -- and i miss the hell out of it -- there is nothing to eat near me like that now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm chresti:

He'd be happy to, they get stuff from the Mission all the time.
Avatar 8:28pm spodiodi:

or really much at all :| so we pretty much make food in (or i do, the lady would grab lunch out, pre-plague -- now she's stuck w/me :D )
Avatar 8:28pm Franco Twinkie:

It's bright orange and yellow. Real big and airy. Might be a good ice breaker for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm chresti:

There's Nopalito in SF.
Avatar 8:29pm spodiodi:

La Coroneta is? Cancun is also yellow :) (or was)

Groovy show!

There are always lines for the Tacos El Bronco truck in my neighborhood in Sunset Pk, Bklyn, even during quarantine. Maybe especially during quarantine. It's good, but I usually try to give some other places some business too.

we used to order japanese here, but i don't think we've had any food delivered in at least 10+ years now
Avatar 8:30pm Franco Twinkie:

Yup, La Coroneta.
Avatar 8:31pm Franco Twinkie:

You must be a hella good cook if you cook every day!
Avatar 8:31pm spodiodi:

looked on google -- maybe i have seen it, but haven't eaten there yet
Avatar 8:32pm spodiodi:

lol -- or have a really limited diet, and like routines (and hate them) very much
Avatar 8:33pm spodiodi:

and i'm not alone -- i do probably less than half of the effort
Avatar 8:34pm Franco Twinkie:

That's good. All the blame is not on you if it turns out awful.
Avatar 8:36pm spodiodi:

so i pretty much make oatmeal and rice every day (i should make a cookbook)
Napalito is new to me too, chresti -- and your son sounds really nice :) i'm not unable to go out though -- i'd feel guilty and undeserving

It's spoon-cuttinglu humid here. Blargh. Might have to eat inside tonight.

Nopalito has something for all of your diatary needs spodi, there might be one closer to you (if it hasn't closed, the one near Divisadero is open, though. He doesn't mind, they're vegetarians, mostly. He's sending me more Acme bread.
Avatar 8:43pm spodiodi:

what kind of bread do you get/like/does he send?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm chresti:

Whenever we visit, we go to Burma Star. Cranberry walnut, mmmmm.
Avatar 8:47pm spodiodi:

good to know. i'm glad most taquerias seem to have options
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm radioronan:

former mission dweller/sf-ian. Pancho Villa has been my #1 for burritos and chips & salsa since late 80's. Puerto Alegre for margaritas, people watching and group hangs. El Farlito for cheap & delicious 3am tacos and pickles(although i dont think they are open til 4a anymore). La Rondalla (rip) for strong cheap margaritas and a touch of food poisoning to keep you strong. La Cumbre for carne asada.

You all made me hungry, went to kitchen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm radioronan:

Nopalito is excellent! expensive but excellent. Have been to 9th ave many times.
Avatar 8:51pm spodiodi:

Puerto Alegre was our pre/during-drinking in the mission spot
lots of liquid, but really great
Avatar 8:52pm spodiodi:

radioronan, maybe we've met ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm chresti:

There's a place I like on Bryant X 21st, (I think), don't remember the name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm radioronan:

And Axum ethiopian on lower haight - I started going there when they opened..fantasic sweet place & people.
Avatar 8:53pm spodiodi:

hha, Handy -- you're always talking about delicious eats ;) take that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Ike:

Oh wow, Burma Star sounds great. Finding Burmese in NYC is actually really difficult. There is a place way out in Rego Park, Queens that is supposed to be great, and I'm seeing search results for a new one in Crown Heights that I've never heard of. I think that's it.
Avatar 8:53pm spodiodi:

Rob, thank you again -- sorry for all the yakkin <3
great show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm chresti:

ooh, will tell my son, if he doesn't know already, radio.
