Most slamming version of "Midnight Hour" I've heard this week.

It's the guy who played piano on The Flamin' Groovies "Flamingo" album!
  Swag For Life Member 12:03am
Ira:

If you’re like me, you spent the entire week mulling over my comment from last week:
I'm sure they're out there, but what musical family is as wide-ranging as the Escovedos?

So I hope you too finally came up with Ravi Shankar and Norah Jones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am

Hey Ira, crew, Irites.

Johnny Burnette and his sons Rocky and Billy.

Done.

Hey everyone, hi Ira
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am

If we're allowing multiple generations, there's the Williams family, ie the 3 Hanks.
Avatar 12:06am
Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Probably not Rusty and Doug Kershaw.
  Swag For Life Member 12:06am
Ira:

@Matt: I hope you listened to the whole album. One of my favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am

Or we could narrow it down to twin acts like Ghost Bees and Watson Twins

But The Walker Bros. count right?

Hey mariano. I have been of the mind that the good stuff skipped a generation with the Hanks.

That Candidate For Suicide song is hilarious.

Hank III fan, right here. Hanks I and III...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am
mariano:

Yeah, not big on Jr either, Mr. P. But HWIII goes a long way to making up for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am
Ken From Hyde Park:

The many and varied Sons of the Pioneers since 1933?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am
Mr. Pumpy:

Hank Sr. is obviously the man...at least in my book. It's spooky how much H III looks like his grandad. Twins even...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am
mariano:

Yeah when III sings Sr's songs it's kinda chilling. He does a great version of "Ramblin' Man".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am
Mr. Pumpy:

I jumped in a bit late. Are the parameters simply musical families ala Escovedo, or are their other criteria?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am
ultradamno:

Bocephus is having a hard month though. Confederate flags at NASCAR are like...ALL of his promotional budget.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am
Scott Williams:

If we stretch the rules a little, we can extend to Hank IV
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am
Mr. Pumpy:

Agreed, the times they are a changin' and have not boded well for Bo-seef. Sorry, dude...you fell victim to what I call the "Hard Liner's Bane"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am

Scott...what are the rules?

I'm going to go eat something because the world could get hit by asteroid tonight???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am
mariano:

Haha Scott!
  Swag For Life Member 12:20am
Ira:

@Mr. Pumpy: although my question was vague, what I meant was what family covers as much musical ground as the Escovedos. The Hadens is a great example.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am
mariano:

CC: That's always been my motto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am

Ahhh! Got ya.

Olu Dara and Nas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am

The Marsalises? All jazz though, though they cover all sorts of ground within that. And Winton has made some classical albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am
Mr. Pumpy:

Do spouses and significant others count? If so, John Lennon and family as well as John Coltrane and family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am
Mr. Pumpy:

Yeah man, Marsalises go deep. Hey, Ron Carter did it all without even having a family involved! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am
Mr. Pumpy:

No joke, I just looked up this Shamek Farrah track because chances are it could have been Ron Carter on base. Alas, it is not. This track is sick, Ira!
  Swag For Life Member 12:25am
drew:

Branford didn't just do jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am
mariano:

Yep you're right drew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
Mr. Pumpy:

Sting's touring band for Bring on the Night featured Branford Marsalis. I remember loving the documentary about the tour. It's been 30 years, but I loved it back then, anyhow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am
Mr. Pumpy:

Patriarch, Ellis Marsalis Jr. had an impressive musical career in his own right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am

Branford played on Sting's first solo album, I remember that. "Fortress 'Round Your Heart", etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am

  1:22am

I very much enjoyed Lorne Greene’s appearance on the JC show
  1:25am
Dungaroos Kipawah:

Cash Show reruns are great, just wish that GetTV had more of them. It seems like it's the same 8-10 of them. Also wondering: was a lot of that show pre-filmed (not in front of the audience?). Seems really edited, but don't know enough about the show's production details, even tho they do cut aways to the crowd occupying the safe portions of, at the time, a crumbling Ryman
  1:30am

on checking Wikipedia.. there is a Pernell Roberts folk album out there, if somebody was asking "did the other Bonanza cast members sing?"

@Dungaroos Kipawah--Hazy kid memory of watching it on the air, and registering.
Avatar 1:36am
Michael Shelley:

A writer told me a story about a chat he had with Johnny Cash about the TV show - Johnny told him he knew the show was going to be cancelled, because each week the show looked lighter and lighter, because less people were tuning in the signal...
  1:36am
John L:

Pernell Roberts also sang on an episode of The Odd Couple.
