Avatar 12:26am ToTetsu:

man. I was reading about Albuquerque yesterday. There is a big google sheet of police violence videos. In there there was one of a posse of Albuquerque cops roll up to an old guy lazing in a bus stop and then waste him with an AR. The police department there has been so bad for so many years.. Hiring people that other departments wouldn't take. Killing scores of mentally ill people each year, with no statergy to deal with these people, and then politically freezing out their own district attorney in retaliation for prosecuting some cops where there was clear video of them killing an other homeless guy
  12:31am BH:

One of the people arrested in Albuquerque had been a candidate for office (finishing 5th of 6 for a city council spot). So, that arrest might hinder future failed bids.
Avatar 12:33am Joe B:

wow great pick with Sheila E! topical and great

Swag For Life Member 12:47am Ira:

Avatar 12:49am Joe B:

Avatar 12:49am Mike W:

there’s like three good segues just within this Lambchop song
Avatar 12:49am Mike W:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Jim the Poet:

Hey Ira and everyone.
Avatar 12:54am Joe B:

@Mike - good point. they are now - game over!
  12:55am Artemesia Shamsky:

This Pointer Sisters song is really hitting the spot right now.

Avatar 1:12am Joe B:

during the baseball strike in 1981, Doug Flynn toured with the Oak Ridge Boys, playing rhythm guitar and singing backups
Avatar 1:17am Joe B:

Tom Snow is the co writer - he also plays the great synth hook on he's so shy
  1:18am BH:

Weezer is a band where there's a gap between how good I think their singles are and how good I think the rest of their albums are. Which might be controversial since some people aren't gonna give Weezer credit for the singles?
  1:18am Chris H:

I heard Jay Horowitz on the radio the other day tell a story about how Frank Cashen wanted to fire him after they all wore cowboy hats at the Lone Star Cafe to celebrate Doug Flynn’s signing.
Avatar 1:19am Joe B:

@BH - good one
Avatar 1:20am Mike W:

oh i’ve been wanting to hear this Don Howland, thanks Ira!

(update, transient random-noise bursts continue into wednesday in the Least Village, dog is I-Rate)
Swag For Life Member 1:20am Ira:

Chris H, at first I thought you wrote that Frank Cashen wanted to fire Jay Horowitz for celebrating Doug Flynn's SINGING.
Avatar 1:22am Paper Moog:

Bonnie Pointer went to same high school as Curt Flood and Ricky Henderson. As did my mother in law Maggie Davis who is listening tonite on the down low under the covers at an undisclosed East Bay mad skills so to speak joint.
Swag For Life Member 1:23am Ira:

Was Rickey already referring to himself in the third person?
Avatar 1:25am Paper Moog:

No, that was his sister
Avatar 1:26am Paper Moog:

Oakland Tech, though in those days it was called Oakland Low Tech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am mariano:

Interesting about Doug Flynn. Are there any other musician pro athletes? I mean good enough to play with a professional band like Flynn did.
Avatar 1:34am Joe B:

bronson arroyo has sat in with dropkick murphys and pearl jam but i think those were one offs (or two-offs)
  1:34am BH:

also I was kinda surprised to find that the Pointer Sisters group is now a Ruth+Ruth's daughter+Ruth's granddaughter... so they could actually keep the group going forever as long as they have enough family members willing to join up
Avatar 1:35am Joe B:

june and bonnie are dead. anita retired. ruth, still going strong, is the oldest
Avatar 1:37am Joe B:

I'm ok with the family members - was always a family group anyway.
  1:37am Tim in NC:

Quite a few NBA players-turned-rappers, never heard any of Shaq's stuff but he's probably the most famous example. Damian Lillard puts out music from time to time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am CarolCrow:

Hello Jim the Poet, mariano, Ira & everyone! Glad to be here:)
  1:41am BH:

"Champions" by the former Ron Artest could be plausibly good. There's also an Artest tribute song to Michael Jackson with was weird even then.

Also on checking Wikipedia, they're formatted the list of former Oak Ridge Boys members across 4 columns and there's a "This section does not cite any sources" notice. The Oak Ridge Boys will do their best to make a run at having a 100 year anniversary
Avatar 1:41am Joe B:

hey Carol! thanks for skeletoning
Swag For Life Member 1:41am Ira:

Glad you're there, Carol!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am CarolCrow:

Hey Joe B! Always nice to "see" you! :)

I heard that!
  1:45am Dungaroos Kipawah:

Haha, we all heard it!
Avatar 1:46am Joe B:

You've done it now - Toddophonic has Billy Bremner on speed dial
Avatar 1:51am Paper Moog:

On the back of an early Don Cherry record it says that Sanders’ nickname was “Little Rock” whereas tonite show is Little Rock, little Jazz, little punk, funk and pop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am jj.:

if buffalo springfield had called it "what's that sound," the uniques never would've recorded their wonderfully synaesthetic "watch this sound" www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:54am Joe B:

ahmet ertegun did make them add the parenthetical (Stop, Hey What's That Sound) to the 45 label once the record was taking off for the second pressing
Avatar 1:55am Joe B:

buffalo springfield that is, not the uniques!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am Mr. Pumpy:

Hello Ira and all friends and listeners. I've not had much in me to post, but I'm thankful for WoofMu and all the rest in my life. Peace!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am jj.:

that advice might've helped the uniques, too.
Swag For Life Member 1:56am Ira:

We're thankful that you're listening, Mr. P. Like Mr. Ed, no need to talk unless you have something to say.
Avatar 2:00am Hubig Pie:

Avatar 2:40am Mike W:

I saw them do this on the Frying Pan one night and it altered the city
Swag For Life Member 2:40am Ira:

Mike W, to paraphrase the Jerry Lewis telethon slogan: You miss a light, you miss a lot.
Avatar 2:46am Mike W:

not that this isn’t a perfect 2:40am song but also
did you run out of records

(p.s. i love this side, i was just remarking on the side-ness of it)
Swag For Life Member 2:48am Ira:

First time I heard them play this, I never wanted it to end. Every time I've heard this, I've never wanted it to end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am mariano:

Thanks Ira, thanks Carol, nighty-night everyone!
Swag For Life Member 2:56am Ira:
