hey, Dan, Purple Haze and folks.

re: this week's question - my wife and i have been spending time walking every evening (there's a deficit golf course nearby). would sure hate to lose it if her work in events picks up again post covid era...

*defunct golf course - silly autocorrect...
Avatar 7:06pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...under this Admin chris - 'deficit' might be correct...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm
chris:

word, RevRab. this admin's current "schedule" of visiting golf courses certainly adds to the deficit.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Webhamster Henry:

Konked out again, boo. www.youtube.com...

Listener Robert:

Well, Webhamster, he ate his spinach, but THAT wouldn't've happened had he eaten his Wheaties.
Avatar 7:30pm
βrian:

Well, we just finished off the last of our garden spinach last night. Dresssed with Olive Oil, naturally.

So, yo to Popeye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Webhamster Henry:

Billy Costello's throat singing vocal talent is a little more evident in his version of Nagasaki. (Snagged from the Secret Museum of the Air show: soundcloud.com...)
  7:30pm
yippie:

how much did michael jordan have to pay to get his face on the wheaties box?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm

ohhh noooo PH.. Ikea stopped making mac n cheese
  7:31pm
Listener Robert:

And this hour at least on 90.1, Popeye's having to fight off some sporadic E skip too.
Avatar 7:32pm
βrian:

"After the pandemic." This is a reality few of us will know.
Avatar 7:32pm
ranjit:

what is E skip?

on 91.1 i've been getting a lot of hum and static for a week or so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm
ultradamno:

The story of my life. I hate liking things because the quickest way to make it go away is me making a habit of buying whatever it is.

isolation good news: my favorite pizza place had closed down for a while, but recently they reopened as a super food delivery hub, delivering lots of new italian dishes as well as pasta and sauces to prepare at home, and even basic groceries.
  7:34pm
Listener Robert:

Ranjit, sporadic E skip is a phenomenon which peaks this time of year, and day, in which unusually dense pockets of ionization in the E layer of the ionosphere bend VHF signals back to Earth, usually from around 700 miles away. I used to watch for it on TV as a hobby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
Webhamster Henry:

The cafe I live over has reopened, yum. They don't have everything until they figure out how many supplies they need to order.
Avatar 7:35pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm
mariano:

Hmph. My local coffee shop just sent an email saying they're closing for good, at least for a while.
  7:36pm
Listener Robert:

I have a Little Golden Record 78 of Jack Mercer doing Popeye the Sailor Man, which I'm sure is a lot more common than Billy Costello recordings.
Avatar 7:37pm
βrian:

@Webhamster: I had a cafe in my basement once, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm

I recall an end of the world movie where the two people ate dinner, than they walked the pile of dishes over to the sink, leaned over, and dropped them out the window. I WANT THAT. Without the world ending.

@βrian - You have the love for washing dishes in common with the great Harmon Killebrew. The talking, no...
Avatar 7:40pm
βrian:

Ur done must be like the original instance of done.
  7:41pm
Listener Robert:

Of course, Killebrew was great at the plate.
  7:43pm
penelope:

hey SSS - people in colonial US used to toss broken plates out the windows, and sort of smash them against the house. archaeologists can tell where the windows were in an 18th/19thc house by where the piles of broken crockery landed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
ultradamno:

Crystal Beth...I get it.

Reminds me of the Reno 911 song Don't mess with meth, steph, don't mess with meth, gwyneth.

And I imagine *some* artisinal beer-maker must have offered "Killebrew" by now ...
