"The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Listener"
Hey, chresti! Good to see you! How was the return to work?
w5ac.tamu.edu...
Send rain, βrian! We need it!
I was digging into all these obscure north African stations & in the middle of the list was FMU...
grateful to be here with you all :)
Happy Birthday Nick!
1984 was the year I was introduced to FMU.
And that was Ten Million Years Ago. Weird.

Later, 97? 98? I discovered Fabio, Kenny G, and Diane Kamikaze online and surreptitiously listened at work. Sometimes I'd record through my RealPlayer at home and connect my mp3 player to the cassette adapter in my car.

and ever since, WFMU has been this amazing presence/anchor in my life, but especially now, when, at best, we are all isolated (& i am hardly this social, extroverted person!) and at worst, stuck in dangerous situations (when the "shelter in place" protocols first hit, my first thoughts went to those in abusive situations, homeless people, those in jails, group homes, etc.) . . . again, grateful for this oasis of sanity in insane, unsure times . . .
agree about this and Blumin's shows good to draw to.
And hi!
Hey, ParUbi.
You like a bit of the ol' smoke then?
...1,907 - Cheers !
My friend in Edinburgh is going to edit it, and I'm supervising the production -- I did not write it, to be clear.
Are you the author?
Hey, TDK60.
@TDK60: Yup. In scholarly publishing.
@chris - it's a bit more than that. For instance I've got my eyes on a bottle of Old Pulteney. The distillery is right on the coast and, not surprisingly, the sea air imparts a feint salty flavour to the spirit.
I miss brewing beer a lot. We were toying with the idea of distilling when my buddy who had the apartment where such things could be possible moved away.
indeed, Handy. running the still scared the hell out of everyone who wasn't involved, so the project came to a close. sad face.
I realized that this blind spot in my ice box is actually a now-like seven-year-old champagne bottle of imperial stout we brewed. I think Kate and I might finally see how it's held up.
The attempt failed mightily.
If you ever get the chance to watch the movie at the Ben Nevis distillery, do it. Angel trumpets and devil trombones and giants making whisky. You are invited!
what the hell is going on?!
We're a Withnail and I / Big Lebowski household.
Bye David!
Thanks for the effort! Strength!
Loads of fun, everyone.
Good night all
thanks, Matt!
adios, all!
