Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hi all. I wonder if the psychedelia influence was measured in micrograms or ounces?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:26pm

Wouldn't dare guess. This artist looks like one of Doug's nymphs.

Okkyung is the only person so far in our history of concerts at Outpost who wouldn't let us record her performance. Of course that's her decision but it was so good I always wished we could have!

Mary Wing:

I hadn't heard of Ellen Fullman until I read a recent article in the Times (which also mentions Mr. Weinstein, heh); the Long String Instrument is fascinating!

According to that interview Moran's religion is piano and drug of choice is running 4 or 5 miles.

You know, I was joking that Moran seemed like an innocent being, based on her angelic promo photos. So, there!

Hello my experimental music fans.
Thank you David for this lovely piece. It suits my mood perfectly.

Hi Stanley. Are you feeling whale-ish? Sounds like whales to me this one.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 3:58pm

Always happy when Stanley's mood (a good measure of reality) matches the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Stanley:

Hi Ruth. It does. Sort of floats along, nice and friendly, doesn't it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
Stanley:

Ha David. My mood is no measure of reality, I can tell you that for sure.
However, I've just come out of a relaxation session after a long hard day
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
david w:

Well, you've always been kind of a reality check for me. But this show should extend the session for a while, happily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
Stanley:

You're too kind, David. I'm tempted to buy a download of that Ellen Fulllman & Okkyung Lee. Anyone know how much 70 Sek is?

I had a complicated relationship w/ Okkyung Lee. Once at the Stone, during some onkyo improv, I whispered to my friend to be quiet, and she shushed me, crossly. But, the next week she let me in for free, always an amicable amazing artist.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
david w:

NGH! Complicated and brilliant, funny how that works. Okkyung was sweet at Outpost, just protective, a little paranoid, with little time to learn our "angle" which is artist support 100%.

A couple other things about this Nyman piece. He made it for filmmaker Peter Greenaway originally, and Eno slowed it down for the recording (as you can tell).

@Davidyou're totally right about Okkyung never meant to imply otherwise. All the artists that play here have total control over their own performances and we NEVER profit from the recordings!

My former cellist from my band, who left for LA 5 years ago to do session work, due to lack of work, left for her mother's old house in Birmingham, AL. In two weeks, I'm going to drive up and record w/ her. (I haven't recorded in 15 months).
