	♥ 4:26pm Rob W: I just looked up the story about the hunger striker KHP - that was İbrahim Gökçek who played bass with a very politically outspoken, maybe the word would be militant, band called Grup Yorum - they've been banned and limited in many ways by the Turkish gov't over the years (they date back to 1985). Their music has kind of a polished trad / folk-rock style I would say. But they have faced various bands / repressions over the decades but I gather things had really ramped up: Their cultural center in Istanbul that has been raided by police 10 times in the last two years; he and other members had been arrested I believe in 2019 (he had been released), and they have not been allowed to perform since 2016.

But riding the subway back home to Bay Ridge was — and is — just tense. Doing anything is tense nowadays. I went out to the local DII discount store and I had to wait in line to get Ajax and Windex and that is even tense.

	♥ 4:26pm Rob W: I just looked up the story about the hunger striker KHP - that was İbrahim Gökçek who played bass with a very politically outspoken, maybe the word would be militant, band called Grup Yorum - they've been banned and limited in many ways by the Turkish gov't over the years (they date back to 1985). Their music has kind of a polished trad / folk-rock style I would say. But they have faced various bands / repressions over the decades but I gather things had really ramped up: Their cultural center in Istanbul that has been raided by police 10 times in the last two years; he and other members had been arrested I believe in 2019 (he had been released), and they have not been allowed to perform since 2016.
