Geez save some critical acclaim for the rest of us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am David (in London):

Hey testing - It goes OK, thanks, struggling to get focus after a long weekend, but otherwise all good.

Handy - Good my brother. How was the wearing of the Woolworth hippy wig?

Hello Joe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am WoodsOfNH:

I have less boing going on this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am Hughie Considine:

Brian and Roger didn't have the same kind of sibling rivalry as the Davies brothers or the Gallaghers. Although I heard they once got into a bit of a row about the setting on a synthesizer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Handy Haversack:

@David: Glorious. It had been too long. I'll have to do it again and take notes to get ready for our (American) football pool -- assuming the NFL plays this year, which, what do I know?
Avatar 9:07am Snoochienucci:

i missed my "yip mark" but i am here

Snoochie - Yipping glad you're here. Hello!
  9:08am djsheilab:

What a magnificent beginning to your show! So serene, elegant, and melodic, and just in time for the rain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am David (in London):

Hughie - Ma Eno, not to be messed with.
Avatar 9:09am Deborah:

Even Clyde The Kitty is meditative this morning. Thanks. Perfect to watch heavy rain, hail and think about functioning.

Hi Melinda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Aaron Working In Newark:

Good Morning Joe and everyone!
  9:15am Toothgrinder Tom:

I’m hoping they will get baseball going perhaps playing games without fans in the stands; that’s what they’re doing in South Korea and Taiwan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Webhamster Henry:

Birdsongs FTW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am p20:

I've been wanting to hear the new Rog and Bri record, thanks for playing it Joe!
Avatar 9:16am DJ Guin:

@ToothGTome -- looks like MLB might commence on July 1 for games. Football is too far in the future to worry about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am p20:

Yes I just called Brian Eno "Bri", it's OK, he's cool with it, we're tight like that :)
  9:17am JOYofit:

thankyou
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am Handy Haversack:

Hey, Snoochie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am WoodsOfNH:

I have my doubts that any of the sports stuff will actually commence this year. The open early crowd are going to force the numbers back up. I really hope I'm wrong about that but still...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am p20:

Football is a contact sport. I think we should start with non-contact sports. Like free-throw competitions. (Never liked fooball anyway, the brutality and brain injuries are a turn off)
  9:19am Toothgrinder Tom:

@DJGuin great news!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am David (in London):

Hello T.Tom and p20.
Avatar 9:19am Snoochienucci:

Hello Mr Handy!
Avatar 9:20am Jesse Dorris:

Really loving the show today, Joe!
  9:20am Toothgrinder Tom:

Football can look after itself, it’s a big boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am TristaC.LadyCaveBrat:

This Blue is the Color reminds me of the band Yume Bitsu a bit.
  9:20am Toothgrinder Tom:

@DiL greetings, my friend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am David (in London):

p20 - I appeared in documentary about Fela Kuti once, and they cut me in next to Eno such that the miracle of the edit made it look like we were in some way connected.
Avatar 9:21am Joe McG:

@Jesse: We're slowly warming up, emerging from the surf, walking up onto the beach....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am p20:

@D(iL): I love that story! I'd probably print out a screen-grab and frame it.
Avatar 9:22am DJ Guin:

@p20 -- I am in agreement. Same reason I cannot watch boxing. Football I will follow, but I do not bet nore really give a shit about the self aggrandizing of players, i.e. OBJ et.al. MLB has become more about dingers and 100+ mph pitches than strategy.
Avatar 9:23am Joe McG:

@Trista: I don't know Yume Bitsu, you'll have to fill me in! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am steveo:

good morning; digging the vibe
Avatar 9:23am DJ Guin:

@DIL -- so you and Eno are tight, eh? lol
  9:23am morphe':

Making me think of a song; woman sings "...didnt have to____>>>>>?????"
Super sweet song... Any guesses???
  9:24am Toothgrinder Tom:

@p20 maybe launch a professional ultimate frisbee league and work up from there. Outdoor lawn curling would be another good one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Webhamster Henry:

Non-touch football! Someone picks it up and throws it, everyone else runs away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Brian in UK:

Hey Joe..

Fans of the brothers Eno might care to look here.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am David (in London):

p20 - If you search for 'Afrobeat Rebellion' on YouTube you can see it for yourself. It's just the short trailer version, but it's still quite fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am David (in London):

Greetings morphester and Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am p20:

@TT: Pro Ultimate Frisbee could be pretty cool. When I was in college there was a requirement to participate in a sport. And I am not really a sports guy, even less so when I was a skinny college student. But at least Ultimate was one of the options, and I discovered that I really liked it.
Avatar 9:29am Deborah:

Love the music, still.
  9:30am Toothgrinder Tom:

@Webhamster Henry or just play the kicking aspect of the game - everything is a field goal.
Avatar 9:31am MeMo BoingBoing:

Ah! I've heard Kate on NPR before! Gorgeous stuff.
  9:31am Toothgrinder Tom:

@p20 yes, I understand it’s quite popular. It was quidditch before quidditch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Krys O.:

Saw Kate Tempest in Brooklyn years ago. Such a riveting performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am the nOggin:

Kate Tempest rules! I am diggin the set, Joe!
  9:32am ZeeBee:

Giving me shivers.
Avatar 9:32am Jeezuseffinchrist:

oh boy, we're starting monday virtual staff meeting and I can tell something is up. My boss is waaaay too cheerily greeting everyone as they pop in, and it sounds like she's choking back emotion..... this is unusual :/
Avatar 9:32am βrian:

We awoke to freezing weather here on day 56. I hope the tomatoes made it.
Avatar 9:32am MeMo BoingBoing:

@krys I don't know if I could handle it live. I'd be blubbering lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Webhamster Henry:

@Toothgrinder Tom You mean "Footbol" "Footy" or as the Americans call it - "Soccor". Just get rid of the goalie.
Avatar 9:33am Jeezuseffinchrist:

my plants are suffering too @brian
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Brian in UK:

David, staying cool?

There was a threat of frost last night but it was not to be.
Avatar 9:35am Marc Francis:

Once again Joe McGasko is playing EXACTLY what I didn't know I needed to hear.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Brian in UK:

Reminds me a little of Mike Skinner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am WoodsOfNH:

Dunno about everybody else but on a lot of days I have a hard time concentrating on work.
Strangely, I _can_ concentrate on painting: imgur.com...

@Woods: Yes, keep creating!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am David (in London):

Brian - Brrrr. No lunch out in the garden today sadly.

Woods - It's not just you. I've been REALLY struggling to get focus today.

@Memo Boing Boing-Tears were shed, indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am b!!!:

This is a wonderful set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am p20:

Tennis is a good non-contact sport. Tennis, anyone?
Avatar 9:37am Snoochienucci:

@Woods @DIL totally agree about the concentration thing. 2 weeks ago it was really bad for me. Last week was a little better. For me it seems to be a weekly mood is set and then follows me until the next monday. This week seems a little more focused so far, but well see. and sweet painting woods!
Avatar 9:38am Deborah:

@ WoodsOfNH: Same with me. Teaching college courses online due to pandemic and papers need to be graded, students need attention (way too much) and I am not my usual prompt self. In a complete mindset of "oh well." Some creative urges but not yet. I write.
  9:39am morphe':

Got the song tweeked by the Steve Hiett instumental earlier = Sade - By YOUR SIDE...
- not a request just a memory...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am WoodsOfNH:

@Joe McG Yes! I intend to. By the way, that one is called Fever Dream 2019/2020. Will start another this afternoon.
  9:42am testingwithfire (she / they):

@WoodsOfNH @Deborah @Snoochienucci For me concentration is linked to motivation, and sometimes the motivation simply ain't there, like early last week. I got a new client late last week and acquired another special project, so motivation came back (thankfully).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Handy Haversack:

Dig the painting, @Woods!

I guess I'm concentrating OK on work. Seems like a distraction from all the OTHER stuff. I'm kind of staying on top of game prep, too, which is my main creative channel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am Hughie Considine:

We have achieved lift-off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am David (in London):

Off for an exciting trip to the shop now. Back soon with treats for everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am TIMPANDA:

What's poppin Joe? Thanks for the chill morning tunes today
  9:46am Toothgrinder Tom:

@Webhamster Henry I should have clarified I meant football americano. Soccer might work if they stuck to passing the ball. There’s already a kind of social distancing aspect to soccer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am p20:

Thanks for the Diamond Head!
  9:46am P-90:

Really like that Manzanera track.
Avatar 9:46am wizard frog:

Does this sound like Pink Floyd ish?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Handy Haversack:

Looking forward to lemon curd, David!
Avatar 9:47am Snoochienucci:

@testingwithfire i totally agree about the motivation aspect, thats a great point
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am p20:

If this were a Pink Floyd song, I think it might be my favorite of theirs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am WoodsOfNH:

@Handy Thanks! Now I've gotta go looking for my lost motivation...
  9:48am Toothgrinder Tom:

@WoodsofNH perhaps Austin Powers could lend a hand?
Avatar 9:48am MeMo BoingBoing:

@Joe you're killing me softly with these songs
  9:49am Toothgrinder Tom:

Gotta crank up the Hardy ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Hughie Considine:

How sublime this is....
Avatar 9:50am Joe McG:

@MeMo: I can't seem to stop playing records...but I'll come on mic soon. I have to!
  9:50am Brendan:

Magical morning to you Joe and all. Great first set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am WoodsOfNH:

@Toothgrinder Yes. I should quit work for the day, crack open a beer, and watch Austin Powers. Brilliant!!! ;-)
  9:51am Toothgrinder Tom:

@Woods particularly the one where he’s on a quest to get his mojo back (can’t remember which one that was).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am p20:

"Diamond Head" is an underrated gem. My good buddy Brian Eno sings "Big Day" on there (which I always like to hear)
  9:52am Toothgrinder Tom:

Is ‘Bowm Bowm Bowm’ on a particular album of hers?
  9:53am Earth Walker:

P20 we used to play touch football in the streets of Brooklyn sewer to sewer

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am melinda:

I really liked the Suzi Jane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am pantz:

"One More Kiss" is my favorite song off of that Blade Runner soundtrack. It would've fit right in to your crooner set a couple weeks ago.

You read my mind, Joe, in playing the Suzi Jane Hokom and Lee Hazlewood song. I have been listening to that song a lot, lately. It just seems appropriate in its moodly reflections on its own time. I am really impressed by the Vietnam references.

@Handy @10:16 Mostly ok. My (adult) sons pretty much abdicated any role they may have on Mothers Day, which didn't please my bride, so there was that. We seemed to have added a pair of green herons and a red wing blackbird to the semi-regular bird crowd so that's cool

@testingwithfire They are fun to watch. We live on a shallow cove and get all sorts of waders, diving ducks, and raptors who spend most of their time here, but this is the first time we've seen green herons in a pair and for multiple days. I hope they are nesting. Something is almost always around looking for some small fry to eat.

βrian, I "kind of" agree- there is SO little of what would be called "reggae" that I can listen to on a regular basis, but SKA never gets old to my ears. Thanks testingwithfire, I figured they must have flamed out pretty quickly after collecting a few checks from the REAL Beat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Rob W:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am David (in London):

Here in, er, England, they always just continued to be known as The Beat. When I heard people referring to 'The English Beat' it made me think there was another Beat. There was, I just didn't realise for a while that it was The Beat! Confused? I sure was.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Rob W:

Let's go with Joe McG's staff posting guidelines Joe B! And yes Brian, Fool's Gold, spot on! That's another band that effectively worked the African guitar angle. Actually way back in 1982 Weekend in the UK (spinoff of Young Marble Giants) did some nice stuff along those lines on the album La Varieté. Much more recently in the US Vampire Weekend of course got pretty big with some African guitar music influence. Needless to say, I have a list. Anyway Brian I have to leave the FMU team meeting now to get on my exercycle!

P-90 - well back in the old world the majority of my FMU listening was done on the car radio. Now, nowhere to go, listening at home. always wanted to post more but usually not able to

@P-90 I'm a recent addition to the community here and I can vouch for it being a great source of connection so far. Love the music and the personalities.

Is UM’s video stream archived? I’d love to see it.

@P-90 - Video is not archived, evidently. I see just the regular playlist archive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Jeff Golick:

(@P-90, re UM's video stream, I do not think he is archiving those.)

Joan Armatrading’s music has aged well, if that earlier track is any indication. I think I had a couple of her cassettes in high school.
