Ike:

Hi! Yes, feeling very grounded. I've been wondering if any of us will get to fly anywhere safely this year. Or ever again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm
ParUbi:

Hello everyone, I am writing in this white box on my laptop computer today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Handy Haversack:

I should mention that I am listening while sitting out back hearing the sparrows court and watching birds at the feeders. It is bird loud around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
ParUbi:

My parakeets are definitely enjoying the show. Nice set up, Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
dale:

lotta tits and and only one cock here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm

slugluv1313:

greetings, Adriene and all!
beautiful sunny evening here, the cats are LOVING all these birds :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
ParUbi:

The parakeets make this sound midway between the sound of squeegeeing a window and rewinding a cassette tape
Avatar 6:26pm
northguineahills:

I was hoping this was based on Pangea, or the pan-global varieties of tea...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Ike:

@dale, how dare you, you saucy jackanapes.
  6:27pm
adriene:

@ParUbi that is an amazing description. I can't think how to mimic that but I can hear it.
Avatar 6:27pm
northguineahills:

@dale: any boobies? (don't think they live in your part of the world).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
ParUbi:

I'll see if I can record it at some point. I want to hear it slowed down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
dale:

lot of titmouses here. titmice?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
mcginniwa:

Digging the show so far. Thanks adriene

andrewb:

I'm partial to the carolina wren. I'm hosting a family in my garage for the 3rd year in a row.The outside of the nest looks like garbage. The inside is like the inside of a coconut shell.
Avatar 6:39pm
northguineahills:

@andrewb: I had a family of wrens bite through my back porch screen, and set up a nest. I discovered them, but I didn't push them out until the fledglings were full grown. Yes, there was guano all over my bike and guardening equipement (they nested in my watering can).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
mcginniwa:

Hah! There goes the call of the Antarctic Marci (now migrated to New Zealand)!
Avatar 6:43pm
northguineahills:

Fun fact, the Finns are (at least linguisticlally) related to the Altaic peoples, even though they are a continent apart.

nellies:

Love this show, beautiful and my cat does too.
  6:46pm
BH:

the birds in the general area in MO appear to be busy making sounds as it rains here. Different dynamic since the birdbath in the backyard has hosted more feral cats than birds in recent years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm
Dave in Vermont:

BH, where in MO?
  6:48pm
BH:

KC suburbs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
Handy Haversack:

I don't have any real way of recording, I think, but I am now bending all effort toward sitting out back when I can so that I can work to the sound of birds. I was shivering all day. It's glorious now.
Avatar 6:50pm
northguineahills:

I like this akulʹi slëzy, too bad I can't fave it...
  6:51pm
BH:

perhaps the birds were more motivated to go to the birdbath when the bird feeder was in the vicinity. Also, there have been owls in the area and they might be establishing territory
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
mariano:

Wow, loving this акульи слёзы (which Google tells me means Shark Tears).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm
ultradamno:

My cat is napping this whole time. Bird sounds don't get her attention that much, do a cat show and she'll get agitated. Nothing gets her irate like the potential of another cat trying to horn in on her action.
Avatar 6:51pm
northguineahills:

@Handy: stereo recorders are rather cheap now, I still have mine from 9 years ago and I have yet to fill up the memory (probably have over a day of recordings now on it)>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm
mariano:

OMG, The Falls, one of my favorite Greenaway films!
  6:52pm
adriene:

@mariano mine too, it's such a trip!
  6:53pm
BH:

one time I decided to play a track of bird sounds (The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds track from last year).. I played it in the dark. With a cat near. The cat quickly got up to see what the hell was going on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
dale:

a lot cheap shortwave radios have built in recorders. i have this one under the 'tivdio' brand name, same one though.it records off air or through the mic.

xpressgoods.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
mariano:

Absolutely, adriene - what an imagination to even come up with that premise! That's what I'll put on in the background tonight. I love how, because it's broken into 93 self-contained chapters, it's so easy to watch from whatever point or skip ahead or back. Have you seen Vertical Features Remake?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
ultradamno:

I like The Tulse Luper Suitcases, that thing is crazy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm

That Russian track was great.

thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm

Agree, ultradamno! dale: some kindly Accu-naut posted a link to this online shortwave radio, it has a record function, and it's really addictive! websdr.ewi.utwente.nl

such a tonic - needed the decompression - thanks for the effort to assemble such a focused unfocused journey - birds out my window all bent ears during the broadcast

Thanks adriene, always a fun and eventful trip; thanks to the Skeleton Crew too! Take care everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm

mariano - software defined sdr that you can control from your home computer IS addictive - the antenna and the reciever is in the netherlands on that one. you can listen to long wave from england too. that's a fantastic site.
  6:58pm
adriene:

@mariano - I haven't seen Vertical Features Remake but it's definitely on my list now. Thanks!
