Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33am Otis:

Here shortly, garnishing my world with tomato slices.
  10:28am Cap Paraula:

Hi Otis, eagerly anticipating this show, to escape reality. No pressure, I know it will help. I'll be listening. And later having a salad for lunch coincidentally.
Thank you in advance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Rich in Washington:

Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Otis:

Hi Cap & Rich & Jan. That's a big 10-4 rubber duckies!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Rich in Washington:

I think this was the first non-music record I ever remember buying. I still have it, with its enclosed reference poster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Jan Turkenburg:

That reminds me, I've got a Dutch language version of such a CB LP. It has been on the shelve too long for FDL now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Rich in Washington:

That would be great to hear, Jan! Was CB really big in the Netherlands?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Jan Turkenburg:

There was a period in the 80s when it was. I remember well that they legalized it I was in secundary school and immediately bought me a legal one :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Jan Turkenburg:

To take requests for my small range pirate FM station LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Otis:

5e Beethoven is playing at the correct speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Jan Turkenburg:

This is gold!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Otis:

The whole record is like this, starting band giving it all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Otis:

It actually has a real, funky uhhhhh feeling. Want to boom it from a car window and look cool at stoplights.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Artie:

It had been easy to forget the importance of timing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Otis:

They threw timing out the window. Teenage rebellion, ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Jan Turkenburg:

It's Liberation Day lockdown style overhere. This record is a good substitute for the missing boonkeboonkeboonk of the usual nearby festival.
Avatar 11:23am Cp304:

Good morning peoples!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Otis:

Hi Cp304!
Avatar 11:29am Cp304:

Hey Otis, good to be listening
Avatar 11:32am Sonderangebot:

Hallo all! I want to be free and surrender myself to the Green Salad Goddess! First in line to be sacrificed! Going to smell like anchovies.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Eleanor Rigby is a great one for interpretive covers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Otis:

Greetings Hopey! Hello all, hope you enjoy the laid back seashore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I know a hardcore record collector who assiduously listens to every last minute of every crappy old record he brings home, because you never know where that brilliant moment will be. (This won't sound odd to WFMU folx)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

and this IS a rather enjoyable cover of Eleanor Rigby
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Linda Lee:

Otis my love! what a sweet surprise! i have *no* awareness of the new schedule.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Linda Lee:

hello beloved ones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Otis:

Oh, and hi Otis and Friendly friends. Gotta love these bizarre artifacts from the heydey of “cool nuns.” Not like the scary ones at my school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm ARB:

Hey Martini, glad you're feeling awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Rich in Washington:

What can I say? I am a back pew kinda guy.

Avatar 12:10pm Mr Fab:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Otis:

Couch music for all MB! Fab, throw some tempeh bacon on for me buddy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I tend to enjoy covers of Fool on the Hill more than the original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Rich in Washington:

I had bacon the other day. A surprise from my sweetie. I forgot how good it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Linda Lee:

ohhlalala!! check out that man's organ!! superb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Otis:

That's Right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Linda Lee:

you're savin' *my* bacon today, Otis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Otis:

Hopey, I tend to play Beatles covers more than originals. Because I played out the Beatles so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Otis:

LL - That's Right! Ha ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Linda Lee:

C'est Vrais!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Linda Lee:

Avatar 12:28pm Cp304:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Linda Lee:

she was rather famous for that. :-)
Avatar 12:29pm Mr Fab:

X has a new album. With Billy Zoom. i am stupefied with glee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Linda Lee:

it was just a matter of time, Mr F. beautiful news.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Linda Lee:

is it 'I Love You Me Neither'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Otis:

Oh I remember, they named it "love at first sight" for some English versions. English, ha, it's just mostly moans on the non-french versions. Moans in Anglais.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Linda Lee:

moans in anglais! haha
this 'raffaela' track is *definitely* what italian pop sounded like when i visited italy in 76. lovely stuff.
Avatar 12:34pm Cp304:

Funky organ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Otis:

Thank Sonderangebot for turning me on to Raffaella recently. I'm on a kick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Linda Lee:

a real popular hit at the time was 'gli occhi verde de tua madre' ~ translated, i think, to something like 'your mother's green eyes'. top of the pops.
Avatar 12:35pm Sonderangebot:

Raffaella has amazing dancers, too, check her videos
Avatar 12:38pm Mr Fab:

Yeah, i think the 101 Strings version was called "Love At First Sight." Wow, all that moaning at first sight? Must have been some sight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Linda Lee:

been known to happen! ;-)
  12:42pm ARB:

Yes in Los Angeles now
  12:44pm ARB:

Light In The Attic that is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Linda Lee:

'what's the good of having stuff you don't listen to' indeed. thanks for that, Otis. i need to clear this cabin out & the vinyl is an issue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Linda Lee:

i've been schlepping crates of vinyl here & there for 45 years. that's enough now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I'm a horrible pack-rat and have albums all over my front room.
Avatar 12:48pm Cp304:

It's therapeutic for me too thanks otis
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Linda Lee:

i love vinyl as much as anyone. always have, since i got my first Beatles 45 in 1964, age 4! now i'm ready to say 'thanks for the joy' & lighten my load.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Otis:

Hopey, pack-rat here too. I set so many rules it's silly. Make a lot of them, but not all. Sorta like eating cake every day, I make rules, but rules are made to be broken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I have the same problem with facebook. I don't use it, but everyone else does. A company I worked at in the 00's required all staff to use it, but I haven't touched it since then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

"Otra vez, otra vez" haha
Avatar 1:14pm Ehoooh:

Onde is looking at the speakers with curiosity here...
Avatar 1:15pm Sonderangebot:

Oh he's just eating very tasty ice cream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Otis:

Here's one for ya Ehoooh... recent picked up.
Avatar 1:18pm Cp304:

This is funky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Are they still searching for the orchestra? Kinda hard to lose an entire orchestra.
Avatar 1:20pm Mr Fab:

Ha ha, GST, "I swear I left it at the Hollywood Bowl, now where did I put it..?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Otis:

Still searching. ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Rich in Washington:

Oh man! I am on the lookout for UFO related music, etc. for a project!
Avatar 1:25pm Ehoooh:

Justin Bieber
  1:25pm ARB:

All this Hollywood Bowl talk makes me want to open an underground club called the Bollywood Hole
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

ARB, I'd totally hang out at a joint called the Bollywood Hole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Rich in Washington:

I think French artists really dominate the space/sci-fi-themed record thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Otis:

I know, so many of these cosmic records around 1980. Script is really good.
Avatar 1:30pm Oliverrr:

hah, yay - great song to tune in to. hi Otis !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Otis:

Hey Hey Oliverrrrrr!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah! Loved the original Space Race as a kid!
Avatar 1:33pm Mr Fab:

That's great, ARB. Bands do covers of "I Am A Disco Dancer" as everyone sits on hard wooden benches.
Avatar 1:41pm Oliverrr:

hahah .. this Pixieland album's a fave ! .. totally bonkers production for 50s.
and yes .. EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE tapes .. for good measure ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Otis:

Which one O? The rap or the other? I'll play. Pick the tape and the side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

I remember hearing this record on the radio in the 80s and taking the bus to Amsterdam to buy the re-release on Idiot Records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Rich in Washington:

I love that album so much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Linda Lee:

oh lalalalala!! isn't this Canadian Bossa Nova lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Ooo, this is pretty fabulous. Thought it was the Herb Alpert version with those opening horns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Jan Turkenburg:

A taste of Honey! I also love the James Last version of this!
Avatar 1:53pm Oliverrr:

EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE = Greatest Hits side 1 ? (starts with crack attack....) few faves on that side .. hehah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Linda Lee:

'the world is waiting for the sunrise'. indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Linda Lee:

how fabulous is this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Otis:

Oliver, ha. I forgot I played EIT Side One, but started 6 songs in at Dance Magick to the end of the side. Perfect, I'll play the first 5 cuts or up to that. Rewinding now.
Avatar 2:06pm OliverrrLewisss:

ha, good call !!
(Sitar shredding over drum machines ?? wild!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Otis:

Yea, Adam (ehooh) turned me on the beatbox sitar delights recently.
Avatar 2:09pm Mr Fab:

Just looked up that Everything is Terrible, the Greatest Hits album and it appears to be quite amazing but only on cassette. Bah, I no longer have any working tape players...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Jan Turkenburgggggggrrrrr:

ok, I'll grab a few...
Avatar 2:10pm Oliverrr:

OOOTISSS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I picked up the Rap EiT tape at their last LA show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Linda Lee:

all tape decks are 'optimist' brand. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Linda Lee:

we all trust our tapes won't be eaten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Rich in Washington:

I really really want one of those high end Sony portable tape recorder/players. The ones that are all metal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

hi! That sitar thing was great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

We had tickets to see EiT again at the Bootleg Theater in April. sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Linda Lee:

don't forget, Rich ~ portable metal is still heavy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Rich in Washington:

Up until very recently, I still carried a small cassette dictation recorder for taking down random notes, observations, stupid noises. There isn't anything which you can simply pick up, push one button, and record at a moment's notice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Rich in Washington:

but I keep wearing them out. It's probably also not good to leave them in hot car all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Otis:

Hi Sweet Corn Lizzie, I know huh... recent discovery/fav here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Rich in Washington:

before this show, it was news to me that Everything Is Terrible! put out audio products.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Otis:

Rich, me too. I have a little Zoom H1 that works great, but in the early 90s had a really nice Marantz portable... miss that one.
Avatar 2:22pm Oliverrr:

I tried to see EIT live for Doggie Woggiez (Holy Mountain remake using found footage of dogs) @ Brouehaha years back .. but they got stopped at the border ! .. doggie costumes & all : o .. they appeared on webcam instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Oootis:

Oliverrr that would be have been a great show. Oh god, thanks again for telling me about these 2 EIT tapes. Bonkers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Rich in Washington:

Marantz made some great tape players and recorders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Rich in Washington:

but does anyone make a digital voice recorder that you can activate by just pushing one button? I would buy one in a heartbeat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Oootis:

We need Martinibomb to jump in here, I betcha he knows of one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Rich in Washington:

I've never really liked microcassettes but I see that Sony kept making microcassette dictation type recorders until just a few years ago. I now think I want one.
Avatar 2:27pm Oliverrr:

this one (Telephone Ringing) has a great video .. looks like early 90s teen girls school project, with help from techie dad ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Rich in Washington:

I think I still have a ziplock baggie with my 90s answering machine microcassettes in it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Oootis:

I'm going to practice what I just learned on the telephone later today.
Avatar 2:30pm Oliverrr:

heheh .. I can picture it now:
ring ring ring ... "help! Oliver!.. There's a bear in my cave!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

For some reason earlier this year all of the videos on Everything is Terrible's youtube channel got taken down. They been spending the last few months re-uploading all of the amazing 90s VHS stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Rich in Washington:

I also saw that Mike Love/Corona thread and avoided the video like the plague.
Avatar 2:36pm Oliverrr:

Sockmonkey.. aha, noted ! (i was about to post a few videos to what we were hearing, but didn't see them pop up on 1st search - now I know!) .... Memory Hole is great .. EIT sideproject. (rejected funniest home video archives, cut up to noise music)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Linda Lee:

Slick Rick! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Oootis:

Noted that too Ol/Hop... been watching the vids, sooo good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Rich in Washington:

That laughing! It just freaked out one of my cats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Power Papi:

This reminds me of a "Mrs. Wiggins" Tim Conway sketch from the Carol Burnett show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

This Concept is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Rich in Washington:

would be cool to compile as many anti-punk reaction type records as possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Another awesome 4 hours, Oootis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Rich in Washington:

Womderful show, Oootis! Thaaanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Oootis:

Love Concept. Want to visit them one day and bring food and jam. Hope so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Rich in Washington:

This sounds like Walter Brennan having a bad acid trip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Oootis:

I will start playing more Concept. Yessssss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Rich in Washington:

Just what the hell is going on here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

This shit is crazy! Especially as the b-side to the anti-punk single.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Jawn Turkenburk:

Thanks Otis, another great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm ARB:

Otis, thank you you Green Goddess!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Oootis:

So Punk. Concept had a concept that's for sure!
  2:58pm Cap Paraula:

Thank you for the show Otis.
Avatar 2:58pm Oliverrr:

Great way to greet the day ! Cheers & Be well Oootis !!
