RIP Lester "Roadhog" Moran.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Handy Haversack:

Hello, Irwin and all the Chusidians. Nice to be here with you all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

FIVE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm queems:

already creeped out, off to a good start!
Avatar 3:02pm Roberto:

What's social distancing the lever way? Is it using a lever to measure the necessary distance between persons?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I wonder what the kind folks at Inclined Planes, Inc., have to say about that.
Avatar 3:04pm mb:

Irwin
Avatar 3:04pm Irwin:

Lever is apparently based in South Park.
  3:05pm Laura L:

Looks like the Lever method involves an unfortunate amount of limb and/or hand amputation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Handy Haversack:

I guess none of those person icons is worried about unseemly BO, though, thanks to Lever.
Avatar 3:06pm Roberto:

What you can't tell from that graphic is that what are presumably the doctors are standing six feet behind what are presumably the nurses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm dave wuz here:

paging Dr. Benway to the ICU
Avatar 3:07pm Roberto:

And yes, that is to scale. They're very large doctors. Or very diminutive nurses.

Is 5his new Fiona Apple terrible?.. it might be
  3:16pm Ochre Ogre:

Great release by Fiona, saw her in an interview on Democracy Now with Amy Goodman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Thanks Irwin I have two barking maniacs five feet away from me. And that doesn't include the humans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Mark Hurst:

Hi Irwin, hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Alison Porchnik:

working but lurking
Avatar 3:24pm Listening Out There:

Lurking *and* working here...
Avatar 3:24pm Itzall Gön'gett-Bettresuhnn:

-same here, Alison-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm ackthpfft:

Here too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Mark Hurst:

lwurking
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Handy Haversack:

Lwurking here, too. Hey, Mark Hurst!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Stevel:

Lwurking and working at home. Mostly bugging the dogs.
Avatar 3:26pm hip:

Qué pasa? means
What's up?
Avatar 3:27pm hip:

Of course you can shout it in a very angry way but...still meaning 'What's up' (in a very angry way)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Mark Hurst:

Hi Handy!
Avatar 3:29pm AnAnonymousParty:

Isn't working at home great? I was on a conference call today where someone's dog started barking in the background, then someone else's dog heard that dog and so we had two dogs barking at each other over a conference call. Presumably they we complaing about whether or not they could hear each other barking at each other, over the humans on the call complaining about the dogs barking. I wanted to shout 'squirrel' so bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Handy Haversack:

@Stevel, I bugged my dog in solidarity. One eye cracked open but is ... slowly ... closing ... again ...

At least the cats have stopped yelling at me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Sounds like a variation of the "rovalert" sniglet.
Avatar 3:31pm Irwin:

Pets want their alone time back. Fish and home-bound owners stink in three days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Handy Haversack:

Spoke too soon. Voltron has more complaints to register. I should never have accepted the ombudsman position.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm mndave:

@AnAnonymousParty, I mute my call and say "go git the bunny" and that'll distract my dog for a good ten. What really grinds my gears is hearing other people's message alert sounds on a call, or bird/outdoor sounds suggesting they have nicer weather than me
Avatar 3:32pm Listening Out There:

I've worked from home for years. Am getting a kick out of hearing misc. stories about coping with isolation, video conferencing, and the like. Man, talk about cryin' in yr. beer...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Handy Haversack:

Irwin, I think the dog feels some of that -- he's tired of music always being on!

Lulu the cat has decided that my being here means she can yell at me for attention all day long. And it usually works, too!
Avatar 3:35pm Irwin:

LoT: Copy that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Peter from Dover NJ:

Hello Irwin, and everyone. I'm gonna *try* writing with the radio on. @ Mark Hurst, I quit like the program Monday nite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Kat in Chicago:

Lwurking is a useful concept but awkward to pronounce
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Kat in Chicago:

Not that you necessarily have to say it aloud for any reason
Avatar 3:36pm Listening Out There:

People of the Waterfalls = Quality guitar abuse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm listener 126464:

I hurt my back lwurking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Handy Haversack:

Still got the skiing to deal with, @Peter from Dover?
Avatar 3:37pm Roberto:

I think our cats are generally stoked to have us around all day. I'm more concerned about how they'll react if and when we start leaving them alone again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm queems:

my parents just got my cat a 6 ft tall cat tree. she's living her best life these days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Oh sweet, I was not aware of this XTC re-issue of Black Sea.
  3:40pm the artist:

Listening Out There: Indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Handy Haversack:

That's my dog worry, Roberto.

queems, whenever we try to get the cats durable gifts, the Pee Wars go once more from cold to shooting.

And don't even think about getting the dog a bed. I think Voltron just peed on the dog on spec when I typed that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm queems:

@handy i'm super lucky because my cat is generally not super destructive, other than she scratches the rugs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Peter from Dover NJ:

Hello Handy, yes still dealing with skiing. I ditched my first draft because it sucked. The second draft is coming along much better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Mark Hurst:

@Peter, thanks so much!
Avatar 3:42pm SSS:

I need this very oddness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Alison Porchnik:

There are a lot of Beatles-esque riffs in this tune
Avatar 3:43pm Roberto:

MJ + Elvis > MJ || Elvis
  3:43pm Hex Fam Sam:

NICE HAHA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm queems:

i thrive on hee's and hoo's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Handy Haversack:

queems, ours can maintain the peace as long as no new objects of common desire are introduced. Voltron and Callipygian go SACPOP with truly disturbing quickness.

Good luck, Peter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Mark Hurst:

@queems there are both hee's and hoo's in this 12-second clip - twitter.com...
  3:45pm Ochre Ochre:

Headed for some major doggie depression, some cats could care less.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm queems:

@mark HAHAH
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm brainiac:

Just got back from grocery shopping and was prepared to spit on my hands and hoist the black flag. But this music hath charms to soothe.
Avatar 3:47pm Roberto:

"Hees" and "hoos" -- no apostrophes needed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm People Like Us:

there are noises in this track that sound like my cat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm queems:

@handy that is one of the many reasons why i only have one cat at the moment. she's a diva and when she was living with her brothers someone was peeing on everything and i don't know who (it wasn't me) and i don't want to find out the hard way that it was her
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Mark Hurst:

@Roberto i think you mean... apostrophe's
Avatar 3:47pm Roberto:

In fact, apostrophes heavily discouraged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Mark Hurst:

(I kid, I kid - same stuff drives me crazy)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm queems:

Avatar 3:48pm Roberto:

Ironic apostrophes (aka irostrophes) are acceptable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Mark Hurst:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Handy Haversack:

So, "Mind your hees and hoos!" is the takeaway I'm getting here.
Avatar 3:52pm Listening Out There:

'Evening, David.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm People Like Us:

@Mark hurst @handy I've just made the vimeo downloadable, so grab it because I'll disappear it again
  4:55pm David in London:

Yeah, not bad Handy. Late dinner after jamming with Kenny Burrell. Sadly he was on vinyl and not with me in the room. It I’m sure he enjoyed it as much as I did.
  4:56pm David in London:

Mark, great Techtonic the other night.
  4:56pm David in London:

Hi Jennica. All good here thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm brainiac:

Hey David in London, what's your least favorite Billy Joel song? I'm conducting a poll. Everyone is invited to submit an answer.
Avatar 4:59pm Jennica:

I dislike all Billy Joel songs, really. Least fave? Ouch. PM or It's still R&R to me? Or... I could go on...
Avatar 5:00pm Roberto:

I like the one about 'nam and Captain Jack all right.
  5:00pm flashbazbo:

Satan is real can be Lear’s stain.
  5:02pm David in London:

Brainiac, hello mate. Ah, you put me in an awkward position here. I am forced to expose myself, in that I actually quite like Billy Joel. I kept quiet when everyone was piling on during Ken’s show recently, but I’m quite fond of him. So I’m going to have to say Uptown Girl because I was quite disappointed when it came out because it seemed popcrapulous. I’m going to plug his raw meat based pronto metal power due Attila too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Carmichael:

@brainiac, Italian Restaurant. And all the others, in chronological order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm listener 126464:

Atilla!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm brainiac:

Thanks all for your well-considered responses. I think this may be a hot-button issue, much like the proper use of hyphens.
Avatar 5:06pm Irwin:

I don't enjoy most Billy Joel songs, but the man has a rare, undeniable gift for composing and recording music with broad popular (read: commercial) appeal, and he's done it consistently over several decades. He's worked for his success.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Mark Hurst:

@David thanks very much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Mark Hurst:

@Vicki got the file, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Handy Haversack:

@People Like Us: Yoink! Will share with Kate later when the workday is (oh dear god please) done!

@brainiac:

"WWBJD? 'What would Billy Joel do'?"
"Probably write another crappy song about it."

I do rather like "You May Be Right," though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm coelacanth∅:

good job!

Stones and TRex mashup is one of many reasons I LOVE this station! Thanks!!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Carmichael:

Another Brick in the Wall vs Stayin' Alive has been my favorite so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Mariano:

I have a vague memory of a brief time when Billy Joel was seen as being in the same phylum as Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, but I was in like 5th grade and maybe my memory's playing tricks. When I first heard "You May Be Right" I filed it away in my 11-year-old head as a new wave song.
Avatar 5:13pm Roberto:

I mean, the guy did use the M word in a song. That's got to be good for something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Handy Haversack:

It's a solid choice for karaoke and *esp.* a duet with live-band karaoke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Mariano:

Oh, have any of you seen Bill McClintock's YT channel? All kinds of mashups. I think my favorite is "Mother Was a Rolling Stone", a mashup of the Temptations and Danzig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm coelacanth∅:

@5.11 those 2 songs i dislike as much as most Billy Joel songs.
Avatar 5:14pm Roberto:

MICHAEL STIPE IS SOOOO HOT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Handy Haversack:

I mean, he's not un-hot.
  5:15pm David in London:

Hey mAriano. I’m capping you in a novel way. Hey Carmichael.
Avatar 5:16pm Irwin:

coel: "Another Brick" is one of the most pretentious songs in the classic rock canon. It's unbearably pompous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm brainiac:

Just thought of a sub poll question: Who are you more triggered by, Billy Joel or Phil Collins?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm iiibeat:

Dialects can break bricks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Handy Haversack:

Got it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Mariano:

Uh, thanks David, I think.. ;)
Avatar 5:17pm Irwin:

brain: if Phil keeps his mouth shut and just plays drums, I can listen for hours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Carmichael:

@Irwin, I think that's why I like the mashup so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Handy Haversack:

@David: Capital idea.
Avatar 5:18pm Jennica:

PC way worse than BJ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm coelacanth∅:

right on Irwin. i was deeply into pink floyd at the time and when the wall came out it seriously depressed me, how bad it was.
  5:18pm David in London:

Brainiac, Collins’ ‘Invisible Touch’ is one I absolutely loathe.
Avatar 5:18pm Roberto:

I get these two and Joan Marie mixed up with the Closet Queen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Handy Haversack:

I think there are better Collins covers than Billy Joel covers? Or at least I can't think of covers of BJ that I liked ... or have heard of?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm iiibeat:

Maybe if you put duct tape over his mouth and hold a gun to his head . . He will just drum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Carmichael:

Some FMU DJ had the wonderful idea of playing every Phil Collins song at the same time. I believe it was Scott Williams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm coelacanth∅:

Phil Collins' music bores me to tears, for the most part; still i think he is, or was a decent writer, decent singer...and obviously an excellent drummer.
...and he can drum and sing simultaneously!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm brainiac:

It's definitely Collins for me. But at least he has publicly apologized for his offenses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm iiibeat:

My idea was horrible. Truly. I'm going now to grab a switch to whip my own hind-side with. It'll teach me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Mariano:

A few years ago PBS ran a Billy Joel concert in London from the mid-70s. I watched part of it, and I was amazed at how orchestral his relatively small band sounded, especially for the era. One guy in particular was really impressive, switched between keyboards, horns, and reeds.
  5:24pm Toothgrinder Tom:

Why can’t they both be bad in their own ways? Who is worse, Engelbert Humperdink or Wayne Newton?
Avatar 5:25pm Jennica:

I have to switch from lwurking to working soon, so I'll miss the end. I'll double back to listen to the whole show soon though. Loved what I heard, per usgh. Be well...all of you...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm brainiac:

Thanks Jennica. You too!

Ta ta Jennica.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Handy Haversack:

Bye, Jennica.

I can't tell now if it's related, but I *do* like Huey Lewis.
Avatar 5:27pm dk50b:

Sorry, "Untitled 1"
  5:29pm David in London:

Handy, have you ever seen the Robot Chicken Huey Lewis sketch? If not, put that right PDQ, it’s in shockingly poor taste and is utterly hilarious.
  5:29pm Ochre Ogre:

Great stuff The Matrix Tapes, first heard it when Fabio played at his record store, Earwax.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm coelacanth∅:

i really can't stand most of Billy Joel's music, but he's had moments of brilliance...at least in regard to songcraft. "you may be right" was not one of those. trying to capitalize on the new wave was like peter paul & mary singing about how they dig rock and roll music; or my beloved kinks trying to jump on both the disco and the new wave bandwagon at once with that abomination,"superman".
...but then i mostly can't stand Frank Sinatra also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Mariano:

Toothgrinder Tom: my stepdad's Sicilian grandma loved Englebert but had such a heavy old-country accent that she couldn't say his name; instead she's say "I like-a da Hinky Dinky."
  5:32pm Ochre Ogre:

Mariano, hilarious! Love those language imperfections.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm coelacanth∅:

mariano hahaha!
  5:33pm Toothgrinder Tom:

I think Billy Joel is a much better songwriter than Phil Collins; I don’t think he could write a Billy Joel song, but Billy Joel could write a Phil Collins song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm coelacanth∅:

Toothgrinder, you may be right.
  5:34pm David in London:

Englebert with Hendrix as his supporting act must have been quite an experience (pun half intended).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm brainiac:

I have a metal-head friend who insists he traveled from LA to Alaska to see Huey Lewis play live without a shred of irony (from the metal head, not Huey. Huey may have played ironically as hell for all I know).
  5:35pm Toothgrinder Tom:

@Mariano cute!
  5:35pm David in London:

Irwin, we were talking this afternoon about that version of Nothing Compares 2 U by unknown you played a few weeks back. Everyone agree that it was actually quite haunting. I’ve listened to it again since.
  5:36pm Ochre Ogre:

Mariano- When I turned my wife from Italy on to Patsy Cline, she loved it and used to refer to her as Pitsy Patsy.

Hey Mr Pumpy!

Toothgrinder, shit, I did an enormous bong and slept through it. Sorry about that! How was it?

  5:45pm Toothgrinder Tom:

@David it went well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Handy...got into the manual a bit last night after the requisite Jeopardy session with pops. Great having a physical book now and not being a slave to a PDF.
  5:46pm Toothgrinder Tom:

@David but the washboard was out of tune - again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Mariano:

Have you heard the recordings of Eliot reading Four Quartets? Or Alec Guinness?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Mr. Pumpy:

David! That harassment film thread was killing me the other day. Funny shite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm brainiac:

I am having a galvanic response to this Say Sue Me song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Mariano:

For me, Phil Collins went a good ways towards redeeming himself with his appearance in GTA Vice City Stories. There's a mission where your character has to save him during a concert from being killed by a mob hitman trying to crush him with a stage light.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Handy...not too bad of a status report in these trying times. I'm working on a nice pint me self.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Joe D.:

damn Say Sue Me switched over from american indie to american cosmic???
