Listener comments!
Hi, Mary! Hi, WFMUers!
Hi, KfHP: we are so law and order here, a guy dressed as a Mountie would never be seen as a threat. A sick man, so sick.
Hi, GST, chresti!
Franco, go give chresti a big hug for me!
I was the production editor. Supervised the manuscript editor and compositor, worked with the designer, did the proof work with the author, and so on.
Alternatively, I'd like it to snow every day to keep everyone inside!
(Wish it was raining)
Hello Mary and wonderful listeners.
Mary, there is pretty much everything except flour. I read the nation has taken to baking (and boozing!). Talking of which, I've cracked one open to wash away the stresses of the day.
Haggis is not as popular, as you may think and treated pretty much as ordinary. But no fear there's plenty
(His wife also got him a membership in the Scottish Malt Whisky Society, which always stands him in good stead!)
But vegetarian haggis is also a treat.
That said, I'm a real sucker for neeps and tatties. *Excellent* butter-delivery vehicles.
The haggis is popular, there.
Contains nae tofu, nor lung.
Haggis is an acquired taste but I think it's the same for a lot of 'regional' specialities all over. I'm originally from London and I cannot stand jellied eels, in fact they make me puke!
Also, Stanley, I am sure you'll appreciate this story. Rob and his wife came back from a weekend in Amsterdam and got a taxi back home, featuring, of course, one of the Famously Chatty Taxi Drivers of Edinburgh, in this case a white-haired Scotsman in his late sixties. When he asked where they were coming from and was told Amsterdam, he made the expected comments. They told him they hadn't even had time for such fun, being there for a conference. His response:
"Nae coffee shops? Nae space cakes?"
Yeah, there was a time there were hoards of Scots out for a 'good time' in Amsterdam. Especially, as the Polis used to come down hard on any drugs. Back in the day, you could get imprisonment just for a bit of pot.
Stand by for another go at independence in a couple of years time.
A keilidh in Elgol on Skye on the night of the summer solstice. Absolute magic.
Handy - I must have missed you. I think you were at the Polka Party but we weren't introduced.
Thanks Mary
take care everybody
Yes, Stanley, Kate and I were there. Wish we'd met!
Curtains are still here, Stanley, did you switch to another browser tab and then come back?
And thanks
