Hello Jesse!
Avatar 8:09pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Jake, how's your quarantine?
Avatar 8:14pm JakeGould:

I went out today after it rained to enjoy the sun and get a sandwich. It was stressful but what else isn’t nowadays. Dawned on me that a lot of kids are going to need some kind of therapy when this all clears up. The sandwich was fine and ordering it was only minority stressful.
Avatar 8:15pm JakeGould:

Minorly stressful. No racism here.
Avatar 8:20pm Jesse Kaminsky:

lol yeah ordering food is another level now. I went to the post office today. It was mostly fine, when I was leaving I saw someone's tax documents flying through the air before landing in a puddle. I picked them up and handed them back to her without thinking, she said "may our father bless you," which I thought was nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy. Enjoying this.
Avatar 8:25pm JakeGould:

@Jesse: Ha! My local post office has seen me a few days this week thanks to some eBay sales. The window staff kinda knows me because I am there regularly anyway. I’m genuinely one of the few people there who has asked them “So how are you doing?” They are so stressed and are relieved when I asked them anything past the day to day bullshit. Even witnessed someone giving one of them crap for nothing and really wanted to scream.

Also, ordering food from stores that are open — at least in Brooklyn — basically just boils down to approaching the place slowly and asking things like “Where can I put my money?” So many places have small bins they use to take money and give back change.

Anyway… It was a good Bahn Mi.
Avatar 8:25pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Phillippe :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm chresti:

I'm seeing people at their best and their worst, when venturing out, lately
  8:33pm Listener Gregory:

I listened to that entire Axel Gomo piece thinking it was William Basinski. Am I crazy, or is there something to that? Feel free to be honest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

@chresti I agree. I was out yesterday trying to track down a tetanus shot and was being treated rather dismissively until one helpful pharmacist got on the phone and tracked down a facility that would give me one. 3 jerks, 1 above and beyonder
  8:36pm Listener Gregory:

OK, not *that* honest!
Avatar 8:38pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Gregory!
Yeah, totally Basinski vibes on that one!
  8:40pm Listener Gregory:

@Jesse, thank you. I am canceling my mental health check. Well, I'm not canceling it, but I won't move it forward. I haven't heard your show before. Very interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm chresti:

Going to pick up some lunch, yesterday in Atwater Village in LA, there was a guy jumping up and down mad about something, his mask kept falling off, as he was insisting that the 3 or 4 people waiting in the huge empty place, were not distancing enough.
Avatar 8:42pm Jesse Kaminsky:

@Gregory, Glad you found it! It's different of course every week but generally a very slow ramp up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm chresti:

@Phillippe, thank goodness for the above and beyonders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm chresti:

There were a couple people filming the guy with their phones, while he was going postal.
  8:47pm Listener Gregory:

@chresti, It sounds annoying, but on balance, less annoying than people who say that we need to break isolation so they can get their hair dyed.
  8:49pm Listener Gregory:

@Jesse... wait, I thought this WAS ramped up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm chresti:

Ha! Right, or tattoos, in Georgia, (or some place) @Listener Gregory
Avatar 8:50pm Jesse Kaminsky:

haha yes from the sound of single birds and rain drops I guess this is pretty ramped
  8:50pm ParUbi ¤¤¤¤:

Lovely track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

I was talking to friend who is out and about since his job is essential, and he said people are driving like absolute idiots on expressways. He said he must've been passed by half a dozen cars doing over 100. We concluded that the virus probably only travels at about 80 mph and they were likely just trying to outrun it.
Avatar 8:52pm JakeGould:

Someone flipping out about social distancing like that is no big deal.

Yeah and Georgia… Bowling is important to the economy that they have to reopen those bowling alleys right away… STFUOFMG.

Seriously the worst entitled behavior I have seen in NYC are local bookstores endlessly yammering about how they are “essential businesses” and should be allowed to stay open. Won’t name names, but I have always seen a few local NYC bookstores and places of entitlement and elitism. This only pushed it to the “screw them” level. Books don’t spoil or go bad and your friend releasing a new book this month is not going to die if they don’t have a reading.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm chresti:

The thing was he was up in peoples' faces about it, and his mask kept falling off. The funny part is that the guy taking my order asked me if that guy was with me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm chresti:

Haha Phillippe.
Avatar 9:00pm JakeGould:

And to balance my point of view on the bookstores, lots of small shops I like — cafes, resale shops, record stores, etc… — all have been reasonable about what is happening and either going online for business or being honest about it.

It’s only twee and precious bookstores in NYC that are acting this way.

  9:03pm Listener Gregory:

I think you didn't mean it, but it sounded like you said Christina Vantzou is your wife. Congratulations!
Avatar 9:04pm Franco Twinkie:

Yesterday I saw a man taking a shit in the middle of the street in downtown Los Angeles, and he wasn't wearing a mask!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm Phillippe Bastille:

@chresti did that make Franco jealous?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Franco the toilet paper shortage is becoming an issue, I guess
Avatar 9:06pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Haha, sorry no Christina Vantzou is not my wife and honestly I've never met her!
My wife is playing music in the next room and I think you could hear it on the mic background while I was talking
  9:08pm Listener Gregory:

Well, if things don't work out with you and the Mrs., I think you should look Christina up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Phillippe Bastille:

I'm certain your bride is just as much of a prize as Christina Vantzou, likely even more so
  9:12pm Listener Gregory:

Anyone who makes music in the next room sounds good to me.
Avatar 9:15pm Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah I mean I think she's pretty great :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm chresti:

Ha Phillippe
