Good morning! Taking a break from trying to fix my wifi and screaming at my computer. Cherry Betty sounds like it would be edible with a couple of ingredient substitutions.

i want some biscuits n gravy real bad after this song
Avatar 11:47am Sonderangebot:

Hi everyone! I brought some Cherry Betty for the potluck. I substituted Lucky Charms for the Corn Flakes (for the adventurous types), and with All-Bran (for the health conscious). Hope it's ok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Kat in Chicago:

I had Lucky Charms for breakfast this morning. I don't make a habit of it, but that is the truth.
  11:51am spodiodi:

extra bran, please!
  11:52am spodiodi:

i had oatmeal and a delicious apple (with earl grey tea)
  11:53am Martinibomb:

I love truck stops too! I grew up near one and went there for breakfast all the time growing up
  11:53am spodiodi:

first biscuits and gravy (proper) i had was at a truck stop (i think in VA) in the middle of the night, with my pops
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Kat in Chicago:

that sounds lovely, spodiodi.
Avatar 11:56am Otis:

Forward... and back... forward.. and back...

The music on the Barbara Ann exercise records is so good and no mention of source or performers.
  11:57am spodiodi:

thanks, Kat. i enjoyed it. i have oatmeal every day, i don't think i've had biscuits and gravy since i lived in NC, almost 30 years ago (eek). now i have a craving, and i blame Joe Maphis
  11:58am spodiodi:

all this exercise talk is making me feel nervous

There is a place called Bang!Bang! not far from me that has excellent pie and biscuits, as well as a lovely outdoor picnicky area. Assuming that they survive, I'm heading for there the minute the current restrictions are lifted.
  12:05pm spodiodi:

sounds like a plan
Avatar 12:06pm Mr Fab:

Hiya! Wasn't Cherry Betty one of the "adult entertainment" performers you played on yr porn special couple weeks ago, Otis?
  12:06pm spodiodi:

oh my
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Kat in Chicago:

Otis is so naughty!
Avatar 12:07pm Otis:

Hey Hey Monsieur Fab!
Avatar 12:07pm Otis:

I know not what you talk about. I am an innocent butterfly with lovely wings.
Avatar 12:10pm Mr Fab:

Yeaterday I went by classic '50s diner Norms for their breakfast take-out package which does indeed include southern-style biscuits. Of course had to run into a grocery to get the appropriate white gravy. The Fat Boys would have approved.
  12:12pm Rich in Kitchenton:

dis of da hook.
  12:12pm spodiodi:

stick em
  12:13pm spodiodi:

i don't even know the fat boys' names. i'm going to look
  12:15pm spodiodi:

  12:17pm spodiodi:

damn this makes me feel old, but it's great
Avatar 12:18pm Otis:

Here too, I was 20 when De La released this.
  12:19pm spodiodi:

same here
Avatar 12:19pm Mr Fab:

"De La Soul is Dead" is even better than "3 Feet High n Rising." There, I said it!
  12:20pm spodiodi:

yeah it is. but it couldn't exist w/o 3ft high
Avatar 12:21pm Mr Fab:

Dang, now i really want to hear The Avalanches "Since I Left You."
Avatar 12:21pm Otis:

So exact there, both are gems, but when Dead came out I was floored!
  12:21pm spodiodi:

we listened to the hell out of that. i was just thinking about "bitties" yesterday, i can't recall why
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm joe:

I have been attempting to get through Mike D's show on Apple Radio while I have a free subscription. This mornings episode I listened Mike explained how 3 Fee High... came out as they were finishing Paul's Boutique and they listened to it the day it came out and felt that Da La had just killed what the Beasties were getting ready to do.
  12:22pm spodiodi:

Pauls Botique came out before 3ft high i think, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm joe:

3 Feet High March Paul's July
  12:23pm spodiodi:

nope. they came out pretty close though. cool
  12:24pm spodiodi:

i saw that, thanks
  12:25pm spodiodi:

if i had to pick one only, i'd have to take paul's botique. hard choice. but Mike D, you did ok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm joe:

Oh yeah 'ello folks
  12:27pm spodiodi:

hi joe
  12:30pm spodiodi:

i think A Roller Skating Jam Named "Saturdays" actually came out in 1991 (since you mentioned '89 on mic, Otis) which makes you way older than me after all
Avatar 12:34pm Otis:

Oh, it did! I was confusing it with 3 Feet High. In 1991 I was "legal" to drink.
  12:35pm spodiodi:

cheers. did you ever have a fake id? i made a couple
Avatar 12:36pm Otis:

I did, at 17 but it rarely worked, started working better at 19-ish.
Avatar 12:37pm Otis:

Hi joe! That morning episode sounds great!
  12:38pm spodiodi:

i can't believe the better one ever even worked... especially when i was 15-16, i guess some people just didn't care. i think i was 19 when a guy on south st. (philly) took it and pulled it apart in front of me, laughing in my face before sending me away (after admitting the girls with me) so ended my fake id stint
  12:41pm spodiodi:

Avatar 12:41pm Otis:

Oh no, torn up! I never had that happen, but a friend got his torn up by a bouncer at a stupid club I remember.
  12:42pm spodiodi:

such is life... alone on the curb *sob* it all worked out in the end
  12:43pm spodiodi:

we need bees!
Avatar 12:44pm Mr Fab:

Ah yes, Kids Of Widney High. i saw their show couple times. It was great, they'd come out like seasoned pros, telling the audience "we have t shirts and CDs for sale over here..."
  12:45pm spodiodi:

nice Mr Fab. new to me, but it's great to hear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm joe:

I found out about Kids of Widney High through Mike Patton I believe. I think he mentioned them in an interview. I don't know when I finally heard them
Avatar 12:48pm Mr Fab:

Hey, here's pics of one of the times i saw em:
Avatar 12:51pm Otis:

Whoa, you saw them, yessssssss!
  12:51pm spodiodi:

nice, Mr Fab! thanks for the link
  12:52pm spodiodi:

yay for FZ
Avatar 12:52pm Mr Fab:

From the album with "Valley Girl"! I actually don't know if i heard anything else off this. this is great, tho.

The song that inspired Johnny Ramone's guitar style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm joe:

Thank you for playing Communication Breakdown otherwise I would have had to leave for a few minutes and go listen to it. My brain is sooo programmed to those tracks back to back. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Greetings, Otis and WFMUers everywhere!
Avatar 1:01pm Otis:

Hiiii Granny!
Avatar 1:02pm Otis:

Here too joe, that whole side back-to-back is implanted in my head... it's often odd to hear Communication without Black Mountain before. Totally, ha!
Avatar 1:03pm Otis:

I almost played Valley Girl from that LP Fab. Jan played the title track last year I remember and was like, whoa, yes!
Avatar 1:03pm Mr Fab:

Ha, i know what u mean joe. Like how "Heartbreaker" MUST go into "Livin Lovin Maid." (And "Sgt Pepper" must go into "Little Help from My Friends)(and "Trouser Press" must go into "My Pink Half of the Drainpipe")
Avatar 1:05pm Mr Fab:

Was just showing Li'l Fab a Go-Gos vid this morn. She's learning her Valley girl heritage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Where was David Essex yesterday when we needed him?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm joe:

LOL! Totally on Pepper. I do get to avoid the HeartbreakerLivin Lovin Maid conditioning as my longtime copy of LZ II was a cassette and those songs were programmed on opposite sides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm joe:

For many years in my youth I also could never figure out for the life of me why Phyllis Diller was on the cover of an LZ album. Boy was I bummed years later when I found out the truth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

there are no innocent ears here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Avatar 1:29pm Otis:

Granny - Love that Newsom album. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Woah, this middle bit is amazing.
Avatar 1:46pm Mr Fab:

Those Michel Polnareff tracks were so cool I looked him up. Amazing how someone can be so huge in one country and be totally unknown elsewhere.

i agree -- my first purchased Kraftwerk album too... was trying to figure out they lyrics from Sex Object, specifically
"Por que? No. A lo mejor"
NOW i know, finally.
