DJ GeorgyGirl:

This library label was French and was only around for about two, maybe two and a half years, but what a catalogue they left! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
StringOFperils:

Was it a lot of studio musicians primarily, the releases?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

All library music does that :-) A roster of studio musicians and composers who go around different labels :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

So you'll get someone like Alan Hawkshaw doing work for KPM, Bruton, Chappell, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

They all worked pretty much constantly, particularly during the 60s through the 80s when music was changing so fast in terms of styles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
StringOFperils:

It continues to surprise me that there seems to be no end to this stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

It is a truly enormous rabbit hole! Every country has their own library labels, and the numbers of labels run into the hundreds if not thousands. And when you consider the output of each label alone, the number of tracks is staggering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I have the complete KPM 1000 series for example, and that ran from 66 to 80, which totals several hundred albums. And that's just a small part of the total KPM catalogue

The KPM1000 series looks sweet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Timpanda!!! So happy you're listening! Thanks for joining in :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - it's the cream of the crop of a very creamy crop :-) I saw the KPM Allstars at the British Library in 2018 and that was the best thing ever :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
StringOFperils:

Fantastic. Good old Londinium.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Granny - this is such a good label! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Santos!! Glad you're enjoying it! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
StringOFperils:

Perfect for DJs that's for sure !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - oh goodness me, yes! A number of hip-hop artists have sampled library music as well :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
StringOFperils:

Yeah, a lot gets sampled. the last 25 years have seen a global explosion of reissues, and licensing labels resurrecting this stuff. Crazy amount of it, all eating itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I mean, on top of the good money they got paid for doing so many sessions, a lot of library people also get that good sampling income too ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I didn't know that library music went all the way back to 1927?!??!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Granny - crazy, isn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I can see how it could become an obsession.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I couldn't possibly comment ;-) lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Ha ha!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm
StringOFperils:

Nice if the contributing artists can still get a piece of the action. And true, they were lucky to make money back in the day, being retained by a studio, so they could hone their chops working on pretty much anything, and then record 'library' pop product on their own, in the open schedule spaces in between. That's a steady job for a musician. Rare.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - absolutely!! The sweet thing about the Allstars gig was that they said that they had to learn all the music again because for them it'd be a job, and then move on, but for all of us it was an obsession. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

in my 20s, i was well on my way to becoming an obsessive record collector. I knew quite a few monsters of record collecting, some even well known for their collections, and i got spooked. I got rid of a bunch of records and now have what i consider a modest, even humble amount. <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
StringOFperils:

Yeah, exactly. It's like getting paid by the note. Music takeout.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Granny - I think I was always destined to be a DJ ;-) lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

DJGG: You are a natural, for sure. It is clearly your calling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love the trilling flutes :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm
StringOFperils:

This stuff must have made its way into so many thousands of radio commercial spots over the years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Commercials, TV incidental music, movie soundtracks ... Tons. :-)
  3:45pm
Martinibomb:

I still need to watch The Champions. Where's the best place to find a copy I wonder?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
StringOFperils:

Rabbit hole indeed. An ante universe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

A lot of the time tracks are named after a particular mood or situation to make it easier to select them for your project. So you'll have "Pastoral. Light." or "Girl" or "Scary Night".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - I think I saw someone put episodes up on YouTube?
