Afternoon, Julie and PGB and all!
Avatar 12:01pm βrian:

Boo from the Isthmus.
  12:01pm John from Florham park:

Hello fellow dark night listeners listeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Julie:

Howdy James!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Handy Haversack:

Hi, Julie and all the Dark Ones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Julie:

Hi Brian Hi John!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Julie:

hiya Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Julie:

I've personally donated this grand prize which could be yours for a pladge of $100 or more!
  12:03pm John from Florham park:

Hey julie hope your staying well from all this insanity
  12:04pm Mr Nobody:

Hey all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Julie:

so far so good! Will probably broadcast from home after all this insanity for a bit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm CHUCK ROAST:

I want to thank all of you who extended get well wishes to me last week. It touched me deeply. I so cherish being a part of this community. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Julie:

Hope you're doing better, Chuck Roast! Hi Mr Nobody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The dark show we need to make it through dark times.
Hope you're on the mend, Chuck Roast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hi everyone! Sadly, only here until my credit card finger gets itchy. Pledge budget -> blown!
  12:07pm John from Florham park:

@Julie sounds good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Chuck I hope you're feeling much better! AA County needs you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Julie:

Haha I know the feeling Phillippe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm PGB:

I'd like to point out that Ken from Hyde Park's animated GIF avatar was bopping in time with the music. Way to go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Handy Haversack:

Hope you're feeling better yet, @CHUCK ROAST!

Hi, Phillippe! I ... still understand. We are weak people -- but in all the right ways!

I upped my S4L by just $6 this morning. But it was enough to let Clay shout about it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Julie:

First prize up for grabs is White Lies Five an LP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Handy Haversack:

($6 per YEAR, to be clear. Not month. The Sack is getting mighty empty.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Julie:

haha good for you. Any reason to make Clay shout I guess!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Handy I knew I was in trouble when I pledged to a show I've only listened to 2 or 3 times...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Julie:

that sounds like good trouble to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Handy Haversack:

When Mary Wing and CarolCrow sang "My Corona," I probably would have just given anything they asked for. The car? Take it! All the D&D books? Hey, why not! The cats? ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Julie:

hahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Handy that was a radio moment, that's for sure. Not sure if it made my tinnitus better or worse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm PGB:

Radio moments, yeah! What was your favorite WFMU radio moment?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm PGB:

I'll go first: a marathon broadcast in the late 1990s when a building on the Upsala campus was burning to the ground. Chris T went to the fire and went live on the air interviewing the fire chief. Chris asked him all sorts of questions, but not a single one about the fire they were both standing in front of. ("Is it true that firefighters all wear suspenders? What's up with that?")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm listener james from westwood:

Ken Freedman earworm here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm listener james from westwood:

PGB: After 102.7 died as a rock station, someone (Scott?) did an off-the-cuff show that night or very soon after, combining radio-themed/music-industry-oriented songs with horrified and angry calls from WNEW listeners stunned at the format change.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Handy Haversack:

Indulging recency bias, but: Bryce and Hearty White talking to each other this Marathon wrung some actual tears out of me. And Sheila's addiction show, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm PGB:

Recency bias is totally acceptable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm listener james from westwood:

One that's stuck in my head for a long time (not a fave per se, just memorable) was David Suisman broadcasting the night we invaded Iraq in March 2003 and, for his first mic break, just kept repeating a disgusted, agonized, "Goddammit."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Phillippe Bastille:

Another recent one that stood out for me was a couple weeks ago when mild-mannered Bryce turned into a roaring evil monster for the last minute and a half of his show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Handy Haversack:

Question for youse more JC-savvy -- ferry landing at Paulus Hook is the closest? We are coming from BKNY *three times* in the next three days!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ken and Matt taking Pseu's chair from the studio and throwing it off the roof when she wouldn't stop bitching about it was pretty awesome too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Julie:

Yes Handy that is the closest stop. Easy walk to FMU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm PGB:

These moments are great! Not gonna find any of that at a station that's not WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, @Julie! Figure we will come west by ferry and retreat east by PATH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Julie:

Clay Pigeon and I doing radio for something like 17 hours during Hurricane Irene that was interesting. Especially as we started getting cranky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Julie:

Jonesey's 100 hour broadcast!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm listener james from westwood:

Oh holy crap, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Julie:

I have a vague memory of Ken & Jonesey kissing on the roof but I'm not entirely certain that's real.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm listener james from westwood:

The lead singer of Monotonix being carried through a record fair crowd, while singing, and standing on a drum, was another you-had-to-be-there moment. IIRC said singer may also have been spitting on people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm PGB:

That 100-hour broadcast was a towering achievement. In addition to Glen physical endurance, the Guinness Book of Records has dozens and dozens of rules that must be followed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Julie:

this fantastic Juliana LP can be yours if you pledge $20 or more NOW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm PGB:

Juliana Hatfield is pushing my buttons. (Click the banner and pledge to get in the running for this LP!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Julie:

give me what you got, ready or not!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Julie:

sending The Cure out to all the sickly folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Handy Haversack:

You never know how badly you need to hear "Charlotte Sometimes" until you hear "Charlotte Sometimes" and suddenly it turns out that something was WRONG THE WHOLE TIME since the last time you heard "Charlotte Sometimes," but now it's not anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Julie:

Well put, Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember one of Faye's Saturday evening shows where there was some kind of egregious technical error and Mary Wing commented about having to come over and fix it while in pajamas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Julie:

one of 17 great performers on my premium this year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Julie:

Just a few minutes left to get the Juliana LP. You have a really good chance!
Avatar 1:01pm βrian:

Stir-fried string beans with ginger, garlic, and chilis. I am fortified.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Julie:

it is awfully quiet right now. It is hard with the big wigs on the regular stream but help support the underdog!
  1:05pm John from Florham park:

Mine was the night John Lennon died and vinnie scelsa was crying on the air that was a powerful moment to me, and hearing carol crow trying to keep it together after spamoni died that was a sad show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm PGB:

Thanks for being such dedicated 'FMU listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Julie:

wow John that must've been amazing. Before my FMU time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm PGB:

Get a gander at that spread of stuff in the box set! Pledge now (during Julie's show only, $100 or more) to be in the running for it and other prizes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Handy Haversack:

Pledge to the Dark Night if you can, friends of the Soul! Aaaaagghhhh! STIPIFY!
  1:09pm John from Florham park:

@Julie was in 10th grade when that happened, and the next day was the quietest my high school has ever been
@Handy that show by sheliab was a really great show did not move for 3 hours
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Handy Haversack:

One could brand it on one's palm, Raiders of the Lost Ark-style.
Avatar 1:16pm βrian:

I can't wear a belt buckle with my broadfalls. Are there WFMU suspenders?
Avatar 1:21pm northguineahills:

MBV!

hais!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Julie:

Lush actually!
Avatar 1:22pm northguineahills:

I mean Lush, daggbabbit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm PGB:

Will take that WFMU suspenders idea under advisement!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Julie:

what is your favorite WFMU swag of all time? I love the hoodies of course, and I'm also fond of the flask!
Avatar 1:24pm βrian:

@PGB: "WFMU suspenders: Show your support!"
Avatar 1:24pm northguineahills:

My favorite swag is the shot glasses!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Handy Haversack:

This winter was so insanely not a winter that I wore that orange WFMU watch cap from last year precisely once -- to a WFMU meetup. That thing is WARM.
Avatar 1:26pm northguineahills:

and Gala was the 5th record I bought....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Julie:

oh yes shot glasses! Yay for drinking! Caps always useful too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm chris:

hi, Julie and folks. i use my telepathic dj bottle every day. if there were an 'eat flaming death" version of the thing, i'd get a case of em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Julie:

oooh nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm CHUCK ROAST:

My medical expenses have hampered my ability to donate this marathon. Here's to bouncing back and bringing it in October.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Julie:

totally understandable Chuck Roast!
  1:29pm John from Florham park:

@Chuck roast hope you feel better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Julie:

Chris love your gif
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Julie:

is that Buster?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm PGB:

Is that Harold Lloyd?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm chris:

thanks! Buster! the thing came from SM Ken on his night of 10000 gifs premium from a while back.
Avatar 1:34pm northguineahills:

I just got a job, w/ benefits, Chuck, so I'm looking forward to seeing a physician. Since I'm moving yet again, I won't be able to contribute to this marathon, but hope to get my boombox back soon...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm chris:

congrats on the job, ngh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Julie:

I know a lot of you folks have pledged already but you can always increase your pledge!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

I wore the Wake 'n' Bake ball cap around for a number of days not knowing what it meant. That was some pretty cool swag for a while
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Julie:

that's great NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Julie:

for a while? haha did you get in trouble for it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm PGB:

Increasing your pledge is tight! (referencing a youtuber's catch phrase)
Avatar 1:37pm northguineahills:

gracias, Julie!

I knew not to wear my Wake 'n Bake tee-shirt to work at my last job, even though my bosses probably partook....
  1:37pm John from Florham park:

@NGH like I said on the main chat congratulations dude
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Phillippe Bastille:

Just a lot of amused looks from my boys (aged 20-28). Considering I have a clearance, it's probably not the thing to wear in the neighborhood grocery store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Handy Haversack:

I'm sure Clay has a clearance, too, @Phillippe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Phillippe Bastille:

clearance to land, maybe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Julie:

Clay never lands. Nor does SMK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Julie:

PGB gets giddy over pledges and it's a delight to watch it.
  1:41pm John from Florham park:

Hey fellow listeners NHL has just suspended their season, this sucks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Julie:

just a few more minutes to get in the running for Occabot! $20 or more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm PGB:

This is your window into what's going down off mic! Pledge now to advance from giddy to delirious!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Julie:

@John OUCH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Andrew Waterloo:

good afternoon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm ParUbi:

Hey there, Julie and everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm ParUbi:

Hi PGB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Handy Haversack:

Hey, ParUbi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm chris:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm chris:

woot! thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm CHUCK ROAST:

Thanks, everyone. Two weeks of hi-octane antibiotics really lays the wood to you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Handy Haversack:

Nice, @chris!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm ParUbi:

What's shaking, HH?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Phillippe Bastille:

@JFFP I have Navy/Hopkins lacrosse tickets for Saturday. Not canceled yet but I'm not holding my breath. Navy canceled their game vs Maryland a couple weeks ago because of a virus going around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Handy Haversack:

I was gonna steal some office supplies to bring along on Sat. ... but ended up working from home. I think we have some extra PostIts. FMU probably doesn't need dice or cat litter ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The WFMU prize warehouse has loaded dice available, so they are evidently set for dice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Handy Haversack:

@Ken, I know! Kate suggested we get those, but I can't allow them in the apartment. Risk of cross-contamination is too great. Gotta keep it all nice and legal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

We're pretty well stocked for food, but I realized last night I need to venture out to get a head of cabbage for St. Patty's Day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm CHUCK ROAST:

Love the Drake. Thank you, VW.
  1:57pm John from Florham park:

@Julie big ouch
@PB now MLB is gonna do the same,
Guys I am really scared shitless
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Julie:

Hi Andrew, Par Ubi! Welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm PGB:

Big hello to ParUbi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Phillippe Bastille:

@JFFP These cancellations are all good things. People at home not passing the germs around is best for all of us. Hang tight and on the chat boards and we'll all get through it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Julie:

Hi Ken from HP I think I missed you before! It got busy while i was talking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Andrew Waterloo:

I second the excellence of this LP. I own two MEC albums
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Julie:

hi doc jazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm chris:

what PB said. word.
  1:59pm John from Florham park:

@PB trying dude not to lose my mind over this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Julie:

She is fairly new to me but I've been enjoying her immensely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha ... no worries. I head my pledge shout-out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Phillippe Bastille:

Oooh, Melody's Echo Chamber!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm PGB:

Pledge now to be in running for this great LP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Handy Haversack:

New to me -- sounds great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

hellooo, Julie and the dwellers of the Dark Night
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Phillippe Bastille:

She had something out a number of years back that was a little more psychodelic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Phillippe Bastille:

Well hey there, Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Ah, drat, missed Queen again! No matter when i show up! Hee hee!
  2:03pm Mr Nobody:

At this point I won't be surprised if they cancel anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Julie:

hi hi GST!! We have a prize you may like, Queen lullabies! @PB the self-titled one was the only one I knew before this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Phillippe Bastille:

@JFFP Hang tight, buddy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Julie:

I've already cancelled my trip to see my sister. She's sickly and if I give her something I picked up on the plane (or at marathon) I'll never forgive myself. Hope for an all-clear for Easter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Julie, yeah that's the one. Came out in 2012
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

@Phillippe Bastille: great to see you here.
@John from Florham park: keep breathing! lonnngg exhales will keep you calm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

It was sobering to see myself referred to as "the elderly" for the first time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Phillippe Bastille: yeah, my girlfriend is in the elderly category, too! Very odd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Julie:

I'm not there yet but I do fall into the vulnerable category.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm ParUbi:

Hi GST!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ParUbi: hey there!
@Julie: loving this gothy set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Julie:

@GST thanks! Poor PGB he missed my fun 60s show now he gets the gothy stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Handy Haversack:

Wisconsin is asking gatherings of more than 250 to be canceled, so I have a feeling my friends' and my annual trip to play D&D and drink heavily and see other dear friends in two weeks is going to be called off. That's fine. Only been planning for it the last fifty weeks.
  2:09pm Mr Nobody:

Yikes that wouldn't be good. I do worry about the passing it to others. With how long I have been hearing some people show little to no symptoms it is a concern.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm PGB:

I'm totally on board for this goth-o-licious installment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

In the spirit of Don't Panic! i carry Babel Fish candies in my backpack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Jeff Golick:

Gothing all the way out, over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Rich in Washington:

oh yeah! Siouxsie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Julie:

just a few more minutes to get in the running for the Melody's Echo Chamber LP! only $20 gets you in the running.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Maximum Goth and Roll
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Handy Haversack:

Thank all creation that at least we have Siouxsie Sioux.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Julie:

I don't play her as much as I should
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Handy the good news is that many dragons will live and reproduce for next year. Like shootin' fish in a barrel! (never played D&D so I dk if you slay dragons or not. Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor, tho)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm ParUbi:

What do they call "elderly"?
  2:13pm John from Florham park:

@GST howdy
@PB will do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm listener james from westwood:

@Handy: Sorry to hear it's being threatened; that sounds like a right fun gathering. Gen Con in Indiana isn't until August, but I know the planning for that starts well before. 5 months can fly by. Canceling that would be horrible.
I'm just waiting for the planners of a conference I have booked in late April to cancel that one. 600+ copy editors in Salt Lake City seems like a ripe occasion for transmission but so far they're just watching and waiting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Phillippe Bastille:

@ParUbi I saw "...the elderly (60+)...". I'm 62 {sighs dejectedly}
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Julie:

i think the warnings were for 60 and over?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm PGB:

"Six Hundred Copy Editors in Salt Lake City" is the name of my new band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Julie:

60 don't seem old anymore!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Julie yeah...
  2:15pm John from Florham park:

@Julie that is the right thing to do
@GST trying to be calm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Phillippe Bastille:

This will be my first pandemic since I got sober (1 year ago Saturday!) -- no idea how I will kill the idle hours...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm listener james from westwood:

Cuomo's shutting down Broadway. Also banning gatherings of 500+ ppl. Wondering how that will affect the Record Fair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Julie:

I set a little modest goal, would be great if y'all help me make it today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Phillippe Bastille: right on! At least we have WFMU to distract and entertain us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Handy Haversack:

@Julie: Good call!

@James: what conference? I know some academic ones are being canceled. The next one I have is Digital Book World in Nashville in September -- certainly hope we're not still canceling things then!

@Phillippe, my games don't have dragons, exactly ... and my players would more more likely to team up with them maximize treasure extraction from the local populace ... but it's the right idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm ParUbi:

I remember when 60 sounded old too. How things can be relative to perspective!
  2:19pm John from Florham park:

@Granny been on here and so far it is working
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I would like a pledging system whereby i make a big lump sum pledge at the beginning and can direct portions of it to different shows as i listen to them. I can't stand the credit card companies taking a cut every time i pledge. Bah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I guess i could write a check, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Phillippe Bastille:

@GST I accept checks. You have my address.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Handy Haversack:

@Granny -- yeah! Just say "Bill Me Later"! I think that would work. Then you can write a check or hand-deliver coins or whatever. I'm sure they'd take it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Handy Haversack: i like that idea
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

The Professor Dum Dum and Nick Name combo almost made me die laughing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Phillippe Bastille:

Welp, Navy/Hopkins canceled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Handy Haversack:

I LOVE endorphins!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Granny - I remember that one. I likely dozed off in the middle, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Rich in Washington:

Negativland in Portland next week is cancelled!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Handy Haversack:

I am going to be super blue if any of the WFMU festivities and volunteering Fri.-Sun. get canceled or interfered with.

Tomorrow we can get to JC entirely by ferry!

Sat. will be subway to ferry or PATH.

@Rich: Oh no! I'm sorry -- that SUCKS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm PGB:

@Granny Spicy Tuna: yes, you can pledge once, then call into various shows during the marathon to use up your pledge amount and be in the running for shows' prizes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Handy Haversack:

(This song is one of my karaoke go-tos. I wish a lot of people were here.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Julie:

that ferry is a nice ride too, used to take it all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yowzie! At this rate, the Hoof 'n' Mouth will be the band under plastic and the singers come out one at a time to an empty room that is sanitized after each performance. Fun!
  2:30pm Mr Nobody:

Ahhh. Getting my dose of PF in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Handy Haversack:

We're in Greenpoint so can take East River Ferry to Wall St. and NY Waterway on from there. I'm an urban paddler, so the ferries are a real guilty pleasure for me. Maybe I'll bring my marine radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm PGB:

The Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia got its start during the outbreak of hoof and mouth disease in 2001! (hence the name)
Avatar 2:32pm Hubig Pie:

Well , that one brought on a bit of melancholy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm listener james from westwood:

@Handy: American Copy Editors Society.

I'd stay the fuck away from Hoof & Mouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Julie:

this CD can be yours for a pledge of $20 or more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Handy bring your kayak if you're ever down this way. You can launch from my yard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

How would you feel about attending the first annual Coronavirus Sinfonia at Monty Hall?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Handy Haversack:

@Phillippe -- I have a canoe, but I'll still take you up on it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

That works too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm PGB:

I'm gonna suggest "Scott Williams and the COVID-19s"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

PGB: ah, thanks! I did pledge earlier in the week, and did include Dark Night of the Soul in my program selections. What matters most is that WFMU keeps up the great work! Thanks, folx!
  2:36pm John from Florham park:

Hey fellow listeners thanks for talking off the roof
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Handy Haversack:

We were so excited about Hoof and Mouth that we booked a hotel room in JC for Sun. night -- figured it would be nice to kick back a little WHAT WITH ALL THE TENSION AND EVERYTHING.

Thank you, Nico! You're helping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Julie:

Woohoo GST thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Phillippe Bastille:

all good, JFFP. It's good to see so many people finally taking it seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm PGB:

If things really go south, Handy, I'll suggest that we bring the band to your hotel room to perform one or two selections.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm PGB:

This year's lineup is a little light on strings for Katie and me, but I get to play recorder on three tunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Julie:

No one is there! Just over 20 minutes before we clear out for Testify!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Handy Haversack:

I have ZERO problem with that, PGB!
  2:39pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Julie!
  2:39pm John from Florham park:

Did hoof and mouth get canceled?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Julie:

hellloooo Larry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Handy Haversack:

I have been adding notes to my printed map of downtown JC and writing out the PATH and ferry schedules ...
  2:39pm Funky16Corners:

Testify! Coming up at 3PM for a four-hour Marathon Marathon! https://wfmu.org/playlists/TG/200312
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm PGB:

The finale and Hoof are still on as of this moment.
  2:40pm John from Florham park:

@PGB good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm PGB:

Here at the station, we're closely following the recommendations of the CDC and the local government. So things might change in the next few days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

If i must be socially distanced, this is where i want to be. I just pledged again!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I am getting a bill LATER! It's so perfectly American!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Andrew Waterloo:

My preference is the LPs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Jaina Bee is me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yay Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

WHOOOT!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Phillippe Bastille:

Double Yay!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

That's how to do it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Handy Haversack:

@PGB, let us know (or tell SMK to let us know!) what we can do to help if things are needed other than $!.

Yay, Granny ST! Billed LATER!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I am so digging those Queen lullabyes.
  2:46pm John from Florham park:

@Granny yay another prize proud of you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for some freeform today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

thanks, everyone. I was surprised by the box of prizes i got last time, hadn't even realized i'd won so many.
Pledge soon! Pledge often! Bill later!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Julie:

Granny -- we are very accommodating here if you'd rather have the Queen lullabies I can make that happen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

And wash you hands. My "elderly" girlfriend has been doing all the things that increase your risk this week AND is a karaoke jockey. She bought mic covers for all the singers to have a sanitary experience.
  2:48pm Mary Wing (at work):

HI Julie, PGB, and Dark Nighters! Wow, I like this vintage Kinks tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Ooooh, yes, Queen, please. You KNOW how i love them so!!! Thank you, Julie and PGB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm PGB:

We're already planning for post-marathon broadcasting to keep everything from WFMU arriving on your radio/computer no matter what happens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Julie:

You got it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chris:

just upped my S4L because of your show, Julie. cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Julie:

@Mary it was newly recorded doo wop for the box set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

I'm feeling the love here, folx.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Julie:

thanks Chris!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Andrew Waterloo:

I always enjoy the devouring the prizes. I've gotten a few interesting things from the drummer stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

ALL the prizes i got last time were very pleasing, and most were things i'd never even heard of before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Andrew Waterloo:

This Nadler is a good as expected
  2:54pm John from Florham park:

@granny that’s because you are loved
  2:54pm Mary Wing (at work):

Today, my colleague brought in all the Girl Scout cookies which the office ordered from his daughter; I am now ready for quarrantine with my big cookie stash!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Julie:

She is always wonderful, also has been a guest on mine and many other shows here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Andrew Waterloo:

Most of the prizes end up in my bandcamp queue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

John from Florham park: aw, that is so sweet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Julie:

@Funky16 I will try to be fast as I can!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Handy Haversack:

Is it possible to save WFMU some shipping $ by picking them up this weekend? Or too early in the process?

Julie, PGB, THANKS for a wonderful show. Just exactly what I apparently needed!

Very calming and pleasant to toss the good words around with you Dark Nighters, too.
  2:56pm Mary Wing (at work):

It is way too early for prizes and swag to be mailed out, Handy... Things don't start going out until summer at the earliest.
  2:56pm John from Florham park:

@Gandy send an email to ken that can help
  2:57pm John from Florham park:

@Handy just got your answer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Handy Haversack:

No worries, @Mary! Just looking to save the station some $.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm chris:

wow! thanks again! mwa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

BYEEE! Thanks!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm PGB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Mary!
  2:59pm Mr Nobody:

Thanks Julie! Adios all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Julie! Hey Mary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

There needs to be a "Bill Me For Shipping" checkbox in the pledge web pages for sending swag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Handy Haversack:

L8r, sk8rs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm chris:

love that idea, Ken.
Avatar 8:31am Bob from Millburn:

Julie, nice show!

PGB, I work with your hiking friend, Mike, and as an odd coincidence, when you were describing the WFMU-tee-shirt-per-day (I listen on the archives), I was typing him an email, and I had to mention that reference.
